What does a child do to deserve an inheritance of pain and mental illness? Nothing, of course. But the unfairness of life doesn’t prevent the shadows of the father from rolling in to cover a child’s life. Escaping the Shadows is a book of innocent childhood, of friends and happy times, and the forces beyond a child’s grasp that overtakes that carefree joy. Sometimes unfairness can’t be corrected with fairness. Sometimes time needs to pass to allow the shadows to lighten. They don't disappear, but instead thin and allow some sunlight through.
