Joseph Parker was a Congregationalist (Reformed) pastor who ministered for more than fifty years in England and published more than eighty books. For thirty-three years, Parker preached to thousands of hearers multiple times a week from his London pulpit, the City Temple (shown on the front cover). His sermons are praised for their insight, vitality, and originality. Parker was a dedicated friend of Henry Ward Beecher and Charles Spurgeon.

Parker's magnum opus is The People's Bible , a series of more than a thousand expository sermons covering the entire Bible, with introductions and explanatory notes. This is the first new edition of The People's Bible in more than thirty years.

Each volume includes new footnotes as well as a brief biography of the author.
