Silver Valley...where do I even start? How do you leave a review for a book that, above all, left you speechless?

But, in the words of my newfound fictional love, Jesse Hayes, “There is no combination of words to describe how much I care for you.”

I fell in love with the characters the second each of them appeared on the pages, they're so well written, and the story felt so real to me. So, so real that it's as if I got sucked into the world, and now I'm fighting to get back in.

Oohh, and how beautifully you painted the picture of what is Silver Valley, Umbra, and the magic/science of it all. It's so, so good, it was as if I walked in Savannah's shoes as we slowly discovered the truth.

This story restarted my flaming love for sci-fi with a touch of fantasy...but now it's all over and I feel like a part of myself is missing. Thank you, Arabella, for giving me the opportunity to witness the magic you created.

And I'm eager to see what's next for this masterpiece because I can't get enough of it. Count me in for the ride, I'm ready to see the stars!!

I have finally finished this book after talking about it for so long!

I was lucky enough to be picked as an arc reader for this book and I must say it's obvious how much Arabella put her heart and soul into it. This book contains everything great about a sci fi you could dream of. The main character I promise is going to make you feel all her emotions whether its laughter or crying, rage or despair its written in a way that wiggles into your heart and doesn’t let go.

If you're a fan of Sci fi definitely pick this book up it has twists and turns and so many unexpected things that make it not like every other book out there. Highly recommend this book you won't regret reading it!

P.s. Love you Arabella ❤❤❤ I'm so happy you made your dream come true! Your 14yr old self would be proud. Can't wait for what's next 😄

Has a book ever left you speechless?
Here I am crying, staring at walls, speechless.

Silver Valley.

I was so lucky to be able to receive an arc of this book and I am so so happy about it!🥰

This has rekindled my love for scifi and given me all the tension, excitement, banter and emotions I could ever want.
The writing is incredible, the story is beautiful and the characters are funny, well rounded and completely insane (in the best way). Savannah girl im talking about you!

This book gives me Jennifer L Armentrout vibes and I am completely in love with it!

Arabella I am so proud of you! ❤

What an honor to read a book before being officially published! I truly did not know what to expect when I opened this book, and while something’s were a bit of a miss for me, I found myself truly enjoying it.

The characters were probably my favorite thing about this book. I LOVED to hate Jasmine, as she reminded me of some toxic people I knew. Jesse and Melanie had a good dynamic that suggested a long history that I desperately want to know more about. And Savannah, a long with having a great name, is a character with a deep desire to protect those she cares about. She has a specific goal in mind — too protect her family— and does not lose sight of it. She is a strong main character and has the fire in her to lead this series.

There were some moments in the middle of the book where I did not enjoy the pacing. I wanted more details of the surroundings and dialogue to ease the plot along. However, Part III had splendid dialogue, development and description, and I could easily place myself within the world of Silver Valley.

I desperately wanted to see Umbra, but I probably should have guessed from the title that the plot would be centered on the Terran island of Silver Valley. I would love to see the characters in a more Georgian setting to flesh out the hints of regency Rosier teased!

All of these things in mind, this book has great potential to bring sci-fi, romance, and fantasy into a worthwhile series.

If you're looking for a book that's;
-character-driven, focused on the mysteries and self-discovery, with touches of a romance beginning,
-a new Sci-Fi world to discover and explore,
-got beautiful and immersive descriptions,
-playful with lots of action,
-founded family, hidden royalty and enemies to friends/lovers vibes
You'll love this book!!

"Maybe there is such a thing as choice after all."

Savannah Shaw, our main character, has begun this incredible journey and is always pushing the boundaries. While her decisions are so chaotic and wreckless and give us these awesome action scenes, they come from a determination to care for her loved ones and uncover all the secrets she's been left with.

"Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back."

The way she assesses situations and people can be so blunt it's so funny.

"Slapping people isn't exactly how you console them."

Then there are times she reveals her heart and inner fears, it's so relatable and feels so real you can't help but admire how strong she's become despite them.

"I'm utterly, perilously, alone... They all leave me in the end."

Savannah becomes more than just a character in the pages but a real person to connect to. The people in her life and the new ones she meets have all these layers she's only just started to explore and uncover, and I'm keen to find out what goes on inside all their heads. (Jesse Hayes eat my heart out)

“Il n’y pas de combinaison de mots pour décrire à quel point je tiens à toi, Savannah Shaw.”

I can't wait for you all to experience Silver Valley too! It's so exciting to see a book develop from its first draft, goes through all those changes, and progress into the version the world gets to see and experience. It's incredible to know Arabella, get to support her through this incredible journey and see her hone in on her writing skills to produce something so new, interesting and incredibly beautiful.

Ok, I loved this book.

First off, characters:

Savannah: She was a super fun main character! I loved how protective she was towards her family and friends, and her daring was *chefs kiss* to read about. There were some parts where I found myself confused, like how she believes her not-biological father is her biological father simply because of the colour of her hair, but overall, I really enjoyed reading from her POV. She was so fearless and righteous, and you can tell how badass she is by the things she does. Jumping out of multiple windows, and fighting a guy that's bigger than her all for her friends switchblade? I mean, come on. How can you not love it?

Jesse: What can I say, I'm a sucker for the dark-haired tortured love interest, so obviously I love Jesse. I'm so looking forward to finding out more about his past, and what his deeper connection with Umbra really is! He's one of those characters that's stoic and brave, but you can tell he has a deeper side and you want to get to know him more.

Melanie: I LOVED Melanie. Badass, fearless, and smart? I absolutely loved everything about her character, and she can do no wrong. I loved her friendship with Jesse, and she had one of my favourite character personalities in the book.

Jasmine: Her character was very interesting, and I won't say too much bc *spoilers*, but I am looking forward to seeing her involvement in the sequel!

Eli: I felt like he was more of a filler character than anything else, but he seems like a nice person, and I'll admit I am curious to see if he plays a bigger part in the SV sequel.

Next, plot:

I found myself super intrigued by the plot. It's quite similar to many other YA books I've read, but the sci-fi twist to it really hooked me, and made it stand out from a lot of the others. I loved the way information was revealed piece by piece, and I was hanging on for more.
As far as pacing went, I was a little surprised at how quickly everything moved from Act II onwards, since a lot of the characters' emotions and development happened all within the space of a week. I would have preferred the plot to go a little slower in some places, and a little faster in others, but all in all, it was still an enjoyable read, pace-wise.
The PLOT TWIST at the end, I'll admit I wasn't expecting something so big to happen. It shocked me, but I honestly loved it. I liked how the author got into the gritty part of what it means to start a revolution, and it impacts the character's arcs in a way that I'm excited to see play out.

Finally, romance:

*SCREAMING* The slow burn!!! I was WAITING for something more to happen between Jesse and Savannah, and ahhhh, I'm still waiting for them both (I'm looking at you, Savannah) to admit and act on what they CLEARLY already know. Although, that little French confession was like *chefs kiss* confirming everything the reader already knew. I liked how the author focused on the emotional connections between Jesse and Savannah because it gives that build-up to (hopefully) more romance in the sequel. I honestly found their dynamic so entertaining, and it was definitely a rollercoaster ride of emotions for both characters.

All in all, a 4/5 from me, and I would definitely recommend this to lovers of YA, with a touch more fantasy than fast-moving romance.

Favourite Quotes:

- 'Jesse opens his mouth to argue, but a look from Melanie cuts him off. He's her bitch, alright.'
- 'The forest has eyes again, and I feel like I've stolen all of its attention.'

“Il n’y pas de combinaison de mots pour décrire à quel point je tiens à toi, Savannah Shaw.”
(My heart 😭 this has to be the best quote to exist)

I literally just finished this book as I’m writing this and wow…let’s see if I can collect my thoughts because that book was 🤯. As someone who has never read or been interested in sci-fi, I’m telling you right now that I love this book (and you will too).

Characters✨

Savannah - She was a very surprising character. To be honest I wasn’t expecting her to turn out as she did by the end but I am NOT complaning 🤩. She’s definitely chaotic and as quoted by the author herself, a bit “unhinged”. I love her.

Jesse - If I am being completely honest…he was the most original love interest I have read in a long time! He wasn’t another cardboard copy (is that even a saying Gabriella?) of the ‘bad boy’ stereotype (and believe me I still love those). His actions were all so intrinsic to his past and his deeper, inner self in a way that I just have not seen! Man, am I DYING to learn all about him!

Jasmine - Chaotic for sure and super interesting! I love the mystery around her! I hope she comes into play more!

Melanie - What a whirlwind. This woman is a FORCE to mess with (and ‘mess with’ I would not). She’s a really strong and awesome character!

Eli - Sadly I don’t have much to say on him. I never connected to his character and I did find the earlier interactions with him a bit off. But by the end I was okay with him.

Plot✨

Um WOW that plot is INTENSE. I absolutely adore how the story begins in such a cozy/supernatural/spooky vibe and turns to a total sci-fi war zone in the span of one book! It was wild and so, so fun!

Romance✨

Okay honestly, the romance really picks up at the second half of the book! I absolutely love the dynamic of the characters and how at first they realistically didn’t trust each other. But wow are they fun to read about 😂. I am very excited to see their development! They’re such an interesting pairing and I don’t think I’ll ever get over them.

Overall✨

Overall, this was a great debut and I truly believe Arabella’s works will go places! She is so creative and talented! This book made me smile, laugh, and want to cry! I am SO excited to read the sequel and visit space 😍.

Dear Arabella, DO NOT HESITATE to put more Jesse and Savannah moments. Please. A lot! And if you’ve got any extra scenes that didn’t make it into the cut, my DMs are open. ;)

I highly recommend this book! And if you preorder now, you can get a really cool bookmark! As well you can preorder *signed* copies straight from Arabella’s site! Don’t miss out, this book is SO worth it!

Normally I never really go for these type of books. Reading SV was going out of my comfort zone in a way and I have zero regrets. I came across the author on tik tok and somehow instantly fell in love with the concept of the book. I’ve come across books where the authors writing style does not captivate you as a reader and upon reading the first chapter I already new I love this book. Her writing style made me fully absorbed in SV. After completing SV in one day, Arabella rosier has come on my favourite authors list hands down. After hearing about the release of SK (which I would pay to have a Time Machine for the release date) I am dyingggg to know how this series carries on since the first book was “chefs kiss” (which I have read 3 times and will read again before SK gets released)
Hands down recommend to everyone, definitely the most underrated book of the year🤍it’s so good😭

Savannah Shaw moves to Silver Valley because of her father's work and is happy to see her best friend, Jasmine Spark, again. But there is something seriously strange going on and Jasmine has told her not go into the forest. But Savannah is drawn to the forest - and the boy she's seen lurking there. Soon the secrets of Silver Valley will be revealed.

This is a well-written debut that introduces believable teenage characters and it was intriguing enough to hold my attention for the first and second acts (after that...not so much). There's potential here, but a lot of it is unrealised. I imagine that the uneven pacing and plot issues will improve across the series, just as the author improves in her craft.

I'm so so glad I took my time reading this book because I have grown deeply attached and left in ruins!! How are we to wait for book 2??

Silver Valley is so unique and one of those stories where I had no idea where it was going and I loved every twist and turn. The action sequences were so raw and fun, and every line was full of passion, hard work, and dedication, it made such a refreshingly good read! The characters too! I love them all, their banter, their chemistry, and deeply thought-out backstories... I can't wait to see where their journeys go next!

I have never read about aliens before so I wasn’t sure why to make of this book in the beginning. I was pleasantly surprised! The concept that they have been living in our world among others blew my mind. The world building and character building was very done! I can really imagine what Silver Island is like and I want to go there … well, pre chapter 35. I enjoyed the relationships and really want to see these further develop! I cannot wait for Savannah and her family to go kick ass on Umbra!

i am sadly disappointed as i follow the author and watched her write this book and have been so excited to read it. but i just feel like most of the last half of act 1 and all act 2 could not hold my attention and i just didn't really enjoy the plot or really the characters. while the first half of act 1 was very interesting t was just not enough. it was well written in the terms it flows nicely and that but not in the terms on plot and story building. Also i did feel like the pacing was ok for a lot of it but at point mainly the middle it just felt off and weird.

** Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC of this book!!

This book pleasantly surprised me. I was a little bored at the beginning, but the plot picked up as the book went on. I liked the author's writing style, though it is important to note she is Australian. Some of the spellings of words are slightly different than what I'm used to in the U.S. Generally I enjoyed the plot, though there were quite a few points where I wanted to roll my eyes because of the tropes. It was still enjoyable, though. I will also add that some of the world-building was a little confusing for me. I enjoyed it!

I have no idea where to start with this review, this book totally captivated me.

Silver Valley is a debut YA SC-FI fantasy book, it’s refreshing to see this genre out and about after reading romcoms and high fantasy books.

You can expect
- Found Family
- Hidden Royalty
- Immersive world building

“We are the aliens of this world”

The author, Arabella Rosier, did a marvelous job of keeping her readers interested in the world building - there wasn’t too much or too little, just the very perfect amount. Silver Valley is based on a made up island off the shores of Australia, a quaint little beach/Forrest town. It brought me to the feels of the 70’s with a board walk on the beach and the town is completely walkable with out a car needed. I could envision myself with a scoop of mint choc chip ice cream walking down this board walk with my friends taking the most amazing film photos, but walk a little deeper into the surrounding Forrest and it’s like you’ve been transported to another planet. That’s where the real story begins.

“Silver Valley is just a speck, a small pocket hidden on the edge of the island”

We follow the main character Savannah Shaw and her family’s move from Sydney to Silver Valley. Watching them adjust from the busy city to a beach escape.

Savannah is a determined main character she knows what she wants but won’t necessarily do things the logical way, she unintentionally makes you laugh at her way of doing things. You can easily connect with Savannah Shaw since she’s down to earth and is easily one of my favourite characters.

“Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back”

Jesse Hayes is your brooding main male interest who steals your heart from the get go - he’s grumpy, he’s protective and just everything your dream man would be.

“There is no combination of words to describe how much I care for you”

The character development is strong in this book, you learn the inner works of each character and what makes them tick. These characters start to become like your family.

Silver Valley is a book I would recommend and should most definitely be on your TBR shelves.
