This book had me on the edge of my seat, wanting to finish it as fast as possible. There were many, and I mean MANY times in the book where I just wanted to slap Kleet for being so stubborn and oblivious to whats right infront of him. There was a time in the book where I was thinking"she'll be better off without him". But I'm glad of how the book turned out, it was an unusual and good read.

SPOILERS: Averans are scared of humans. Kleet is to be Averan's leader.I found out why this book is called "Mating Flight". When you mate on Averan, its a family tradition passed down to go on top of the Hill at Dawn, then jump off the hill/cliff while having sex. Thus the mating flight.and worse was that Sheleigh did not know about the mating flight when she was doing it, only knowing that he was having sex and they were falling down towards the ground. She was furious when he told her that she is his mate, and told her about the mating flight and what it really means. His family has accepted her into the family without hestitation, and every mating flight is fertile so she most likely would be pregnant. Shes having TWINS!!! later on radicals(enemies that want avera to change) kills Avier(dad of Kleet) and cripples Kleet by destroying his wings. So now he's crippled, grieving like his mom and others, and out to hunt down betrayals..since that day he's changed, from caring and loving to cold and had to confront. And thats the main problem in his and Sheleigh's relationship.The radicals were found, and so was the betrayer. Harrier, friend of The old Avier. He wanted change to happen. He at the same time was a bad guy, and was not. Averans never wanted to show people their wings, much less accept them/their help(UPS's HELP) for them to have peace like other species have, that was until Sheleigh told her speech infront of them all, and most were convinced, but Kleet is still sorta unconvvinced. Sheleigh comes up with a brilliant idea that humans have made/used to fly. and she wants to use that to carry two people to fly, and let Kleet fly again. In the end Kleet found out what Sheleigh was doing, and they flew together. Now sheleigh wants the invention to go out to all of non-winged averans. Now Kleet's non-winged twin sons are flying fully and happy, and they expect twin sets soon. Kleet can now mate-fly with Sheleigh. #141

Yok efenim, yok. Adam olmadı bu oğlan. Ne zaman ki kitabın sonunda kız olayları kafasına kafasına attı da anca çıkarabildi at gözlüğüne boyu posu devrilesice. Bu süreç içinde ise bizlerde şunları okuduk;
mmmkk..NO I will not be reading the rest of this book or the second installment. I was so disappointed because the book had potential to be great. The story started off to fast for me. One minute the h is working in the lab then BAM she's flying off a fucking cliff fucking, mated, and pregnant WTF! Usually I am ok with the whole "YOUR MINE" mating at first sight thing but in this book ummm...NO didn't work! The H was an asshole and not the good dominant possessive but in love with you type. The reasoning for the hiding was not plausible to me at all the author needed a better excuse. You would think they would welcome help to keep from being attacked. The worst of the story was the supposed romance between the H and h. He forces her to love him then rejects her love because it didn't come fast enough. Again sometimes this works in novels but not this one! Just an overall mess of a story that could have been interesting. Maybe the story gets good at the end but I am not willing to waste more of my life on this book. Sorry Ms. Lacy I love scifi but this one's not for me!
~2 stars~ had bigger expectations .. DNF 60% seriously i couldnt even finish it i was cringing at half of the book The only thing i liked was the main idea about the society - the wings, the mating flight etc. , buuuutt it wasnt worth all the cringing For start everything was evolving TOO FAST And i mean FAST i was like "What the fuck?" half of the time CRINGE Then it just was too muh dnf.. *i dont recommend
I tried to give this book a fair chance, but the execution was bad. Let's first get into the biggest problem that I saw. For a Syfy novel, this book was lacking in serious description of setting. I couldn't tell you anything about what this world looked like, its civilization, its people, or its setting. The author decided the most general and sparse of description was adequate enough.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong.
As for the heroine herself, I couldn't care less about her. She was a weak and boring character who I didn't want to know more about. Because of this, I had no incentive to keep reading and find out what happens further in the plot.
Not only that, it seems as though the author threw this romance at the reader way too soon, too fast, and too much at once. So much so that it was off putting.
My last issue was with the writing. I don't know what it is about the prose that grated on me, but I couldn't stand it. Maybe because of the information the author failed to communicate, it felt insincere? I was really irritated because I couldn't tell what the setting looked like. Sometimes the dialogue felt like floating heads, too.
Anyways, I'm just glad I've finally decided to give up on this book. I suddenly feel free.
Everyone who deals with prejudice should be required to read this book. Radicals or traditionalists, winged species or non-wingeds, everyone would benefit from seeing the other side.
Various options are tried, such as isolationist polices, rebellion, assasinations, executions, all to no avail. In the end it is hang-gliders that come to the rescue.
Some nice allusions to our world and situations, and what the UN, oh sorry, the USP can do to help.
