"A great fast read that brings awareness to domestic violence touches on forgiveness and tosses you into a cocoon of romance." - Amazon Reviewer.
I have enjoyed other books written by Rebecca Hemlock. In her newest release, Fury in the Shadows, her writing talents really shines through. I thought it was a really good book that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. At times, I felt like I was on a thrilling roller coaster ride. I admired Jessica’s bravery and determination throughout. The addition of the faith element and inspiration within the pages was another plus. I loved it.
I am giving Fury in the Shadows four and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean Romantic Suspense. I look forward to more like this by Rebecca Hemlock in the future.
I received a digital copy of Fury in the Shadows from the author, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
This second-chance, action packed story grabbed my attention right from the start. The author tackles the subject of domestic abuse. Jessica and Michael have a painful relationship. They both have to resolve hurt feelings and forgive. Great story.
I read this book in the course of 2 sittings and there is nonstop action from the beginning to the end. I loved it!
The book also handles the subject of abusive relationships in an informative and compassionate manner.
There are lots of great details in this book that ties the plot and the characters all together.

When Jessica Everett gets too close to a murder in progress, becoming the killers next target, it falls to Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Redman to protect her. A task that would be much easier if they didn’t have a past, a painful and very unresolved past. “Fury in the Shadows” is a fast paced, character driven, romantic suspense thriller that kept me on my toes guessing, late into the night! The writing is fantastic, the characters well defined, and spanning the full range of likability! The dialogue is not only beautifully written, it sounds authentic and rings true! But what really had me over the moon was that neither main character was “cookie cutter perfect”. Both made mistakes, mistakes that had consequences, mistakes that made them feel REAL, not only adding depth to the story, but lending an absolute air of authenticity, truly making this a believable and engrossing listen! I loved it! The icing on the cake was the clear, emotionally appropriate narration that brought “Fury in the Shadows” to life, making listening easy! I loved everything about this one! Five stars across the board!
"The chill of the spring evening and the breeze from his run caused his lungs to immediately burn and his eyes to water. The setting sun brought more shadows to the woods, making it easier for someone to hide. Michael panted, pushing himself to run faster. He squinted, making sure he kept focus. He wasn't about to let whoever this was get away."
Jess frequently reaches out to law enforcement for assistance since she works with abuse victims. But she did not anticipate being in danger. Or having the responder be her long ago boyfriend. But suddenly she is running for her life. Can she discover who is after her?
This book had plenty of suspense with the right amount of second chance romance. I did not exactly predict all of the ending. An enjoyable read. I would read more by this author. 4.5 stars
👮♂️🕵️♀️Fury In the Shadows by Rebecca Hemlock🕵️♀️👮♂️
Quote: “She managed to dial 911, but she’d be dead before they arrived. She could faintly hear the dispatcher’s voice and prayed they wouldn’t hang up.” “Her father’s favorite saying echoed in her mind. ‘Better make sure you’re good with the man upstairs. Every day could be your last.’ This was one day he could be right.”
Jessica Everett is hunted by a murderer. Who better to protect her than the same man who once broke her heart? This fast-paced, suspenseful, second-chance romance had me on my toes and turning pages like I was the character who could get caught by the murderer any minute. This standalone novel reminded me of the tv series CSI Miami. The complex crime scheme and the involvement and investigation of multiple interconnected characters on both sides of right and wrong had me fully invested in the mystery. I couldn’t put this book down and I read it in less than three busy days!
Quote: “Jess, I wanted to bring you here tonight to say that losing you was the worst mistake of my life and one that changed everything for the worse. I know now that my life without you doesn’t make sense, and I hope to never lose you again.” ~ Deputy Michael Redman
Genre: Romantic Suspense Rated PG-13 for relationship abuse, violence, murder, and reference to drug business
My first read by this author but I’ll be definitely back for more. A story of second chances. I love the way Rebecca integrates her faith into the lives of her characters. It reminds me of the influence of Christian mothers. We may not know what or when things they were taught as youngsters will be it meaningful in their later lives
If you want a book with suspense and action this for you.
Jessica is hunted by a murderer. And the person who is protecting her is the man who broke her heart. A second-chance romance, that will keep you on your toes.
This story is nonstop action & and suspense from the beginning. It's the first book I've read by this author. I enjoyed it a lot. Mystery is my favorite genre. I received a free copy. I choose to write this review.
This is my first book by this author. As an avid reader of romance and a lover of suspense, I’ve read quite a few with a protection theme. I was definitely irritated at some of the..not wise choices our hero and heroine made. However, I did still very much enjoy this murder mystery.
I gave it my best shot, but I couldn’t finish this one. The characters are alright, but there are too many continuity errors, especially for a crime story. Its like a witness that keeps changing their story, but its the writing that can’t seem to keep track of its own narrative.
This is a new to me author. I liked this book, it was a good story. Similar in style to many other clean Christian romantic suspense authors that I enjoy. I would read more of her work in the future.
Lots of action in this gripping romantic suspense. Good story, well written and a second chance romance. The audio narration was well done and enjoyable
This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this book and will be getting more of this Author. Fast paced, so many twists and turns. Loved the characters.
A suspenseful story of forgiveness and understanding leading to the restoration of friendship, love, and safety while rescuing oneself and others in need!
