This is an OK shifter romance, but it seemed that the couple was more in lust than in love -- I would have liked a little more romance and a little less sex. Fox and Vella (especially Vella) weren't really all that likable either. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
This was a quick read, so there wasn't time for as much character development as I like. I would have liked more backstory on both Fox and Vella.
Vella and Fox weren't really all that likable. Vella was impulsive, angry, and too determined to always do things her way. Fox was just all about lust for Vella, to the point that his character seemed a bit undeveloped.
I thought Fox would have had a little more trouble adjusting to suddenly becoming a shifter. I get that the story was trying to show that everyone reacted differently to the shifter serum, but his almost immediate ability to shift and fight was a bit hard to believe.
One complaint is that most of Milly's stories are a bit too explicit for me. I like hot sex in romances, but I would prefer it to be a little less descriptive and dirty. I am not a prude, but the really explicit stuff is just not romantic to me. I will continue to read Milly's writing, though, as it is entertaining and fun.
My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Billionaire game designer Fox Redman discovers that a terrorist is using his game as a blueprint for mass destruction in real-life. When he goes to the FBI he calls Nick for help to stay alive, where he gets the most beautiful bodyguard. Vella Marlowe is a bat shifter and volunteers to protect Fox as he is her mate - the question is can she concentrate well enough to protect him? Mortally injured Vella using the stolen serum on Fox in order to save him and then together they need to be able to defeat the bad guy before more innocent lives are lost as well as their chance at a future together.
I enjoyed this story with the final identity of the bad guy, the understanding shown by Fox and the gentle way he tried to let him down. I loved how feisty Vella was and how determined she was. Easy to read and understand. Contains some mature content.

Vella Marlowe is a vampire bat shifter with an attitude. Her past and her diminutive size have left her with a chip on her shoulder the size of Plymouth rock. But she has a huge heart and a lot of love to give if someone can scale the wall she’s built.
Game designer Fox Redman doesn’t have time for a woman in his life. Gamer girls and gold diggers are all he meets and he has more important things to do. Like find out who has hacked his game world and is recreating disasters there in the real world.
When he reaches out to Nick for protection Vella volunteers for the job. The heat between them is immediate and intense. They have to fight their attraction as they fight to find out who is doing the dirty deeds and why. Lots of action and heat in this fun addition to the series

This was another great addition to the Alpha Geek series. This book is filled with the authors classic writing style which always includes endearing characters and an engaging story line. I'm ready for the next installation of this series.

The size doesn't matter, and they definitely show it in this one. Despite the description, I wouldn't aim this to the vamp lovers its firmly in the paranormal romance theme. The twists throughout are awesome, definitely worth a look.

Such a fabulously fun read and so enjoyable! Absolutely love these geeks and their bodyguards! Milly always has such interesting characters and fantastic plots! A very enjoyable read that I definitely recommend! I am voluntarily leaving an honest review for this complimentary copy of this book

Bat and Bear
Vella is a bat shifter and is to protect Fox Redman from someone out to kill him. Fox is a game programmer and nerd and is attracted to Vella. But their time together is full of danger. I enjoyed this story.

Vella and Fox make for a wonderful couple. Another must-read in this genre. Always has a well-written plot. Can't wait for the next book. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
