Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
The chemistry between Saxon and Genesis is incendiary. These are two passionate people who fight and love hard. There were times I wanted to slap them up side their heads but they are perfect for each other.
This is an OK shifter romance, but it seemed that the couple was more in lust than in love -- I would have liked a little more romance and a little less sex. Saxon and Genesis weren't really all that likable either. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
This was a quick read, so there wasn't time for as much character development as I like. I would have liked more backstory on both Saxon and Genesis.
Genesis and Saxon weren't really very likable at all. Genesis was impulsive, angry, and too prone to violence. Saxon was just really lustful, and then really mean to Genesis at one point. I was really surprised that she forgave him so easily.
I thought Saxon would have had a little more trouble adjusting to suddenly becoming a shifter. I get that the story was trying to show that everyone reacted differently to the shifter serum, but his almost immediate ability to shift and fight was a bit hard to believe.
One complaint is that most of Milly's stories are a bit too explicit for me. I like hot sex in romances, but I would prefer it to be a little less descriptive and dirty. I am not a prude, but the really explicit stuff is just not romantic to me. I will continue to read Milly's writing, though, as it is entertaining and fun.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Investigative journalist Saxon stumbles upon a secret that has him on the other side of Nick's shifter protection agency. Can they find a common ground before it is too late? Shifter Genesis has always taken care of herself but luck ran out when she was locked up for murder even though it was self-defence. Nick helps her to be released as long as she works for him. Never normally a problem but the geek she is investigating is cute and her fated mate. He finds out about a secret serum that can turn humans into shifters and he has some decisions to make - his new beautiful sassy secretary is a shifter and she just saved his life but she just made the decision to use the serum on him to save him and he needs to decide whether to forgive her and to keep it a secret or not.
I liked this story. It took a little while to get used to Genesis as she was a bit abrupt but there was no denying their attraction and that he now needed to do a radical about-turn on what he was going to be and how his life will be in the future. There was definitely danger and drama in this story with some almost comical moments involving Genesis and her attempts to work for Saxon. Easy to read and understand. Contains just a little mature content.
I do so enjoy a Milly Taiden read…exciting adventures and romantic interludes await you. This latest addition to her Alpha Geek series is one of her best. I love her strong female characters. Genesis is written with all the elements that endear a character to you. Saxon is hot enough that smoke billows off the pages. Download and enjoy.❤️❤️❤️
I love absolutely love these geek stories! This one is a little bit different and so enjoyable! Saxon and Genesis are just amazing and their story is exciting and very steamy! I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Saxon Drake, human needs protection, Genesis Sawyer a Wolverine Shifter, is his Fated Mate, but does not know it. A bumpy start for these two. Genesis and Sawyer are two Wolverine, in love!
What a ride the 2 went on even before he was injected with the serum. Then once he became an alpha shifter, they faced the one who put the price on his head. After all the excitement, danger and adventure they went through, they got their HEA.
The books in this series had become a little predictable, but this installment was fresh. Genesis isn’t the typical bodyguard working for Nick and Saxon isn’t a client.
The FMC was introduced to us unglamorously, a person with no purpose in life but the story lifted off when she got her assignment. That is where all the fun and excitement began.
