Milly Taiden (also writes as April Angel) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean (to her) known as the Dominican Republic. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
When she’s not working full-time, texting with her best friend Heidi in England, chastising her son for pulling the dog’s ears, shopping with her sister Jewel or watching scary movies with her husband, she can be found writing on her laptop.
She’s addicted to shoes, chocolate, Dunkin Donuts coffee and JIMMY THOMAS covers!!!
This is an OK shifter romance, but it seemed that the couple was more in lust than in love. Ryan and Nikita were both likable, but I would have liked a little more romance and a little less sex.
This was a quick read, so there wasn't time for as much character development as I like -- but there was enough to like the couple and to want them to find their HEA.
I thought Ryan would have had a little more trouble adjusting to suddenly becoming a dragon shifter. I get that the story was trying to show that everyone reacted differently to the shifter serum, but his almost immediate ability to shift and fight was a bit hard to believe.
One complaint is that most of Milly's stories are a bit too explicit for me. I like hot sex in romances, but I would prefer it to be a little less descriptive and dirty. I am not a prude, but the really explicit stuff is just not romantic to me. But I will continue to read Milly's writing, as it is entertaining and fun.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Lion shifter Nikita was rescued from an underground ring and now works doing protection for Nick. Her latest assignment is for geek Ryan who is a skinny geek with a heart of gold who is trying to find his lost friend. Realising that he is someone special to her lioness, can she keep things professional before he finds his friend? Ryan is instantly attracted to Nikita and they appear to be a great pair but things could change after Nikita has to use the secret serum on Ryan who will be forever changed. Their adventures at sea will finish when they end up on a mysterious island to face a madman with a devious plan. Can she protect her geek turned dragon and can they save the day?
This was a fun read following the normal pattern of a geek, a shifter protecting them, mates and moral wounding needing the special serum to save them. I did enjoy the twist of saving the friend, the sea setting and the evil shifter and fighting them. I really enjoyed the ending and the way that everything seems to have righted itself in the end. Easy to read and understand. Contains mature content.
I have to say, I like Ryan. He's cute and funny. Even when he messes up, he's adorable. I'm laughing at no matter the mission, Nick and crew are becoming matchmaking pros. Nikita had me laughing out loud. She's definitely a bada$$, trying to redeem herself after being rescued from the fight rings. Her reactions to Ryan were too much. I liked the expansion of this shifter universe. I found a lot of shifter surprises in this story. Fast pace, fun and steamy. A great addition to this series. I was provided this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a fun and exciting story! Milly definitely outdone herself with this one! Some really different characters in this book that really make it interesting! A very enjoyable story that keeps you intrigued! Highly recommend! I am voluntarily leaving an honest review for this complimentary copy of this book
Yet another must read in the Alpha Geek series. Nice to see different creatures coming into the stories to mix things up. If paranormal romance with a aquatic twist is your thing then look no further you've hit the gold mine. I did receive this book as an ARC but this is my honest review.
I liked the story in and of itself, but her last few books have been very different. They are coarse, not as smooth. The male characters are more dominant and rough to the point of being chauvinistic, while the female characters have become submissive. They are no longer equal.
Alpha Geek: Ryan by Milly Taiden. Ryan’s best friend Wayne is kidnapped by Wayne’s shifter uncle. Lioness and shark shifter Nikita is sent to help Ryan find his friend. Ryan and Nikita are fated mates but Nikita had been alone and fighting for her whole life so how could she share her life with someone else and a human at that.
Milly definitely was thinking “outside the box” when writing this edition of Alpha Geeks! There is nothing normal about these characters or the situation they are pulled into. Exciting, and intriguing from start to finish!
This installment of this series included some of the strangest combinations r shifters yet! A bear octopus hybrid? Who thinks of that! This was a well thought out, complicated story that did have a great resolution.
This is nonstop action with little bits of rest where you will gather your next breath for the next action. Our MMC might be a little scrawny at first but he was through and through an alpha who loves fully. Our MMC was just what the FMC needs.
The author had fun with this one and so will you. This one has a socially inept lioness/shark shifter guarding an ocean going geek with a spine of steel in a marshmallow body. They have to outwit the bad guys, stay alive and give in to the burgeoning love between them. Exciting.
4.5 Stars Another hit for Milly Taiden. The endearing characters and engaging story line made this another great addition to the Alpha Geek series. I can't wait to see how she plans to top this one.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This book was so good. You will some surprises alone the way. No matter human or shifter when you find your mate. You will feel the pull to mate. In this book is no different but you get some surprises too
