This book was off-the-charts good. I loved everything about it. It had some angst on the part of Emily, a bit of action, and great characters. It is a short book and able to be read in just a couple of hours; another plus, considering my time is not my own right now.

Emily Grenville is a widow and is walking through the park alone when an out-of-control horse comes at her. Her flight part of the adrenal gland didn't kick in and she was frozen in place until a man ran at her and flung her to the ground, landing on top of her.

Tobias Forsyth. Be still my beating heart. He's Scot, handsome, witty, smart, and, as things go, is guardian to his niece who needs a season in London. He promised her parents that he would do that for her, but he had no idea how. He's a bachelor. His niece thinks he's a rake, although I'm not so sure. Regardless, he's got this young woman on his hands who is outspoken and unhappy. She's resentful and he thinks she hates him. He's confounded. When Emily offered to guide them, he jumped on it. It was his salvation.

Tobias had always liked Emily (they knew each other from a ball they'd both attended) and thought she was beautiful. She was also kind, even if she made it very clear she wanted nothing to do with him or any man. She had a secret that would ruin her and any of those she associated with and she could not let that get out.

There are some good feels, some clever banter, and great chemistry between Tobias and Emily. It was refreshing to feel them fall in love. So many stories are missing that these days. The couple meet, speak for a bit, and end up in the bedroom. That is not love. Tobias and Emily had love and it was fantastic. I do wish we could've had an epilogue, but the ending was still satisfying.

This is the final book of the Seductive Scoundrels series. I read most of them. Not sure how books 2 and 10 slipped by me, but I'll pick them up. The series was great. All of the stories can be read independently and you won't be lost, although characters from previous books do make appearances. This book wrapped it up nicely.

Easy five stars.

Tobias Forsythe, Duke of Heatherston, has had his eye on Emily Grenville since they met at a Christmas party. In fact,Tobias fell in love, but he moved too fast in his pursuit to make her his duchess and she refused him. Six months later, she offers to help launch his niece in her first season. It's just what he needs, time to change her mind. As Emily opens her heart to Tobias, an unexpected encounter may expose her embrassing secret. If she loves him, can she trust him with her secret?
A short clean romance that moves at a fast pace with a mature couple.

Tobias Forsyth, Duke of Heatherston, owes his niece Avery a proper Come Out. But as a confirmed bachelor in his mid thirties, he has no idea how to fulfill his commitment. Widow Emily Grenville is at a loose end now that her niece has married so when the opportunity arises to help Avery with her ‘Come Out’ she jumps at the chance.
Tobias & Emily met at a house party, he fell for her but Emily totally distrusts men after her husband proved to be despicable. The pair now meet again & gradually Tobias breaks down the walls Emily has built. Another absolutely charming & delightful read, the characters have depth & are lovable, the pace is very good & the chemistry sizzles. I’m always sad when a lovely series ends so reading this finale was bitter sweet. However the series ended on a high & we also caught up with previous characters. I would love for Avery to have her HEA to totally tie up everything

How can a widow hiding a dark secret history be happy?
This is yet another delightful and fairly quick to read tale by Collette Cameron in the Seductive Scoundrels Series, but is totally a stand alone book. As I read through this story of our heroine, Emily Grenville and her hero, Tobias Forsythe, Duke of Heatherston, I am again reminded why I enjoy these stories so much. There is amazing character development in a short book, so you can find out a lot of backstory of the main characters involved. There is great hope for the HEA. Beyond all of that, the language descriptions will make you smile because they are just plain fun! An example of Emily talking to herself: “Some men ranked above truffle hogs and clatterfarts.” Or this: “Come now Emily Cecilia Ann Grenville. You are not a weak-kneed, weak-willed ninnyhammer.” I did obtain an Advance Reader Copy, but this review is entirely my own. Do NOT pass this one by, it’s just way too much fun!

I received an ARC of  "When A Duke Desires A Lass" from the fabulous Collette Cameron and voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. It is part of her Seductive Scoundrels series. Emily Grenville, a young 30 year old widow and Tobias Forsythe, Duke of Heatherston have a strong attraction to each other. Past events prevent Emily from acting on her blooming feelings for Tobias. She is asked to help his niece enter society which also helps her make good use of her time. In this beautiful love story, we learn how sometimes it is better to acknowledge the truth than cower from it becoming tomorrow's headline. We start to believe again that there is someone out there for each of us if we truly believe in loving and being loved.

“How old are you?” he asked impulsively.
“What?” She scrunched her nose in the adorable way she did when perplexed.
He grinned. “How old are you?”
“Don’t you know it’s rude to ask a lady her age?”
She didn’t seem particularly offended.
“If I don’t ask, how can I find out?” He hitched a shoulder. “I’m six and thirty, by the by.”
“Positively ancient,” she quipped. “How have you, a duke, managed to avoid the parson’s mousetrap for so long?” Abruptly pausing, she shot him a contrite glance. “That was prying. I’m sorry.”
“Not a bit of it.” Tobias snatched a Shrewsbury biscuit and took a bite. “I haven’t met the right woman.”
Until now.
An undecipherable expression whisked across her porcelain features. “If you must know, I am thirty.”
“Not so ancient,” he teased with a roguish wink.
“Ha!” she scoffed, wrinkling her nose. “I’m on the shelf, well and good.”

“Tobias?” Emily notched her impertinent chin upward.
Sudden wariness overtook him. “Aye?”
“About our kiss.” She brought her gaze up to meet his. “I must apologize for asking you to kiss me. I said our relationship would be strictly professional, and I overstepped. It was beyond the pale of me.”
She would take all of the responsibility upon her small shoulders?
“I didn’t mind, lass.”
“Well, that was obvious,” she retorted with more heat than he’d have expected.
What really went on?
She had regrets. But why?
They shared a pleasurable kiss. Tobias heartily hoped they’d share more in due time.
“Nonetheless, it mustn’t happen again. I want to fulfill my commitment to Avery, but I shall have to renege if you cannot promise me that it will not happen again.”
Giving her a side-eyed glance, Tobias scratched his forehead.
“Ye want me to promise that ye will never ask me to kiss ye again?”
“No, you obtuse buffoon.” Emily dragged in a breath, and something near panic shone in her fern-green eyes. “I want your assurance that you will not kiss me again. That our time together will focus strictly on Avery’s Season.”

In truth, a cup of chocolate sounded divine. Unlike yesterday, today was cool and breezy. Typically fickle April weather, and Emily had become chilled.
She mustn’t sound too eager, however. “Yes, that is more practical for planning than strolling in the park, I think.”
Tobias shied an eyebrow high on his forehead as if he knew her game but was too polite to comment on it.
“And I cannot stay long,” Emily said. It was best to limit their time alone whenever possible. Less chance she’d succumb to something foolhardy. “I promised Justina we’d visit Hatchard’s.”
Not until this afternoon, but the duke needn’t know that detail.
“The booksellers?” he asked. Without waiting for her response, he gave a brisk nod of approval. “Excellent. That’s a perfect start to Avery’s introduction to London.”
He acted as if she’d included him in the invitation. Which, of course, she had not, and he well knew it.
The rapscallion.
“But…” Scrambling for a feasible excuse to refuse to exclude him and Avery, Emily came up empty. Resigned, she gave him a gimlet glance.
“I cannot decide if that was cleverly done, or not well done of you, Your Grace.”
“I ken.” He gave her a rakish wink, and her heart toppled over itself.
Lord, I’m in trouble.

“’Tis a great pleasure to see ye again, Mrs. Grenville.”
He’d slipped into his Scottish brogue, and the burr tunneled deep into her belly, warming her in a most peculiar fashion. Almost as if her femineity responded to him.
Stuff and nonsense. What utter rubbish.
Clutching as much of her tattered dignity as Emily could muster—given she lay beneath the duke with her legs bared, and she was quite certain the scant few people in Hyde Park had homed in on her circumstance and were approaching with alacrity an Ascot racehorse would envy—she managed with a flat look, “I cannot say the same, Your Grace.”
Throwing his head back, his strong chin on full display and exposing the thick column of his throat, Heatherston burst into laughter.
What was so dashed humorous?
His slightly too-long auburn hair fell forward over his forehead when he lowered his head once more, his bachelor-button-blue eyes alight with hilarity.
“Are ye hurt, lass?”
Genuine concern shadowed his eyes rimmed with lush lashes many a woman would envy.
Emily did, and envy was far too pedestrian for her.
“I don’t think so.” Emily pulled in a shallow breath. “But as you are squashing me, I cannot be absolutely certain.”

Tobias Forsythe, the Duke of Heatherston, had previously tried to pursue widowed Emily Grenville. Emily is almost run over by an out-of-control horse his niece is riding. He sees an opportunity to renew his interest in Emily when she volunteers to guide his reluctant niece through her first season in London. Emily is attracted to Tobias but she has a shameful secret she cannot reveal. Collette Cameron excels with her ability to draw us into her characters and their path to romance by using charming humor, a good flow to the writing, and creating actually likable characters, such as Tobias and Emily. I really love how she pokes fun at the ton in many of her works, such as this one when “Lady Pooferhatch ran off with an Italian artist after selling the family silver and jewels.” Tobias won over Emily's protestations when he said “he loved her, would protect her, and make her his duchess.” When a Duke Desires a Lass was such a charming read and a fitting finale to a great series, the Seductive Scoundrels.

I really enjoyed this story, couldn't stop turning the pages. Emily was an interesting woman with a scandalous secret. She wanted more for her life, but her secret kept her from looking for a commitment and love. Her kindness in helping Tobias with his niece pushed her boundaries. Tobias was quite a determined man as he finally had the opportunity to get to know Emily. I loved how protective and attentive he was. I highly recommend this story.

I received an ARC, and this is my unsolicited review.

An enjoyable read by Collette Cameron. I always enjoy her writing and I can’t wait to finish the book and start the next one. This story is about Tobias and Emily. Tobias always admired Emily, but Emily who is a widow, did not want to be bothered. When Emily did not know what to do with herself, she decides to help Tobias with his niece’s coming out. This makes them spend time with each other, and Tobias has worked his way into Emily’s heart. You will enjoy this book and be happy that you spent the time reading it.
I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving my honest opinion.

Will she see past her old wounds to accept the extended hand of a lover …

This is what I love with the author, she can write novellas and novels and never do I feel like something is missing.
While checking this series, it appears I have read about half of it, and now I am much curious about the next to come.

The heroine, Emily had been betrayed once in the worst way possible, since she has struggled to trust any man, but with her niece and ward now well married, she has come to acknowledge not all men were bounder like the one who left her.
Still she has pushed away every potential suitors, unable to believe them trustworthy or to be able to accept her shame.

Series: Seductive Scoundrels #15
Publication Date: 6/27/22
Period: Regency London

Tobias and Emily provide a lovely book to end the series. We had nice mentions and on-page time with the other couples from the series and it was good to see them again. We had a straightforward, feel-good, little drama story complete with an epilogue. I love epilogues and I think every romance should have one. This epilogue was nice, but it wasn’t my favorite because it takes place before the couple is even married. I would have preferred something 1, 2, 5, etc. years into the future so we could see how their family is doing. However, that is strictly a personal preference, and the author must have thought differently. Imagine that!

Emily Grenville has a deep, dark, oppressive secret. One that will reflect poorly on her niece and others – not to mention herself – if anyone discovers it. She would have loved having a large loving family, but that is not to be because her secret will keep her from ever marrying again. It doesn’t matter how attractive Tobias is or how much she is drawn to him; she must rebuff him.

Tobias may be a duke, but he has no idea what to do with his rebellious niece. She’s very unhappy and she lets Tobias and the world, in general, know it. She didn’t want to come to London for a season and she is behaving abominably – even wearing men’s clothing in the park while riding her horse astride. When she comes within inches of running Emily down, Emily offers to help with her season. Talk about forgive and forget.

This is a very straightforward story with little drama. It simply moves forward step-by-step with only one minor bump in the road. I really liked Tobias and Emily and I thought they were perfect for each other.

I hope you have enjoyed the series and will enjoy bidding a fond farewell to all of the lovely people you’ve met throughout the series.

This book was such a fun read! Tobias and Emily’s love story was a wonderful ending to the series. Their book offered great humor while keeping the angst to a minimum.

Collette Cameron has a way of bringing you into the moment with her writing and this book was no different. You can feel Emily’s paralyzing fear as the runaway horse is bearing down on her in Hyde Park. The frustration between Tobias, the Duke of Heatherston and his niece Avery, after the horse incident at Hyde Park is palpable. The expressive writing continues throughout the book.

Emily is bored now that her niece Justina, who she raised, has married. She offers to assist Avery in her come out, despite her better judgement of working so closely with Tobias. Does she have to find him so handsome and charming? Emily has sworn off love and marriage as her first marriage left her not trusting men. Her body reacts every time she is near Tobias, regardless of what Emily tells herself.

Can Tobias win over Emily? With lines like, “Mrs. Grenville, don’t ye ken by now? I’d agree to anything ye asked of me just for the privilege of your pleasant company.” Tobias is surely on his way!

When A Duke Desires a Lass is the last book in Collette Cameron’s Seductive Scoundrels series. The story is well-written with a good pace, offering a glimpse of many characters from earlier stories. I wish the epilogue had been set a few years into the future, rather than in the current time of the story, but that’s just me. I love seeing how the family has progressed beyond their “story”.

I hope you enjoy this last entry into the Seductive Scoundrels. If you haven’t read all the stories, I highly encourage you to do so – they are very entertaining, and you will be happy you took the time! I want to thank the author for an advanced copy of the book, which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a great quick read !! I love all the people in this book.
Tobias Forsythe, The Duke of Heatherston is a man with a Hugh problem. His niece, Avery and ward after her parents were killed in an accident. Is the love of his life and also hates him. He promised his late sister that he would see she had proper coming out. Truth be told he had no idea how or what to do with his eighteen-year-old niece. Avery takes a horse; she was told not to ride and then losses control of said animal in Hyde park almost running over a woman. Tobias saves the women then learns it is none other than Mrs. Emily Grenville, the woman who rebuffed him at a Christmas Party.
He fell in love with Mrs. Greville when he first saw her but left her alone following her wishes.
When Emily over hears Tobias and Avery problems with her coming out she offers to help. She is bored now that her niece, Justina who she raised as her own is married. She does wonder if she has lost her mind helping the man who had already showed an attention to her. After the secret her late husband left her with, she will never marry again. Her short marriage left her with heartache and not trusting any man. Even if that man is most handsome, charming, compassion and has a great sense of humor.
And make Emily think of things she shouldn't for the first time in a very long time.
These two will have many ups and downs to get thru before all is said and done. Both will have
secrets and longing to learn and overcome. Trust is earned and forgiveness freely given. This is
a true love story with kissing and nothing more. A great sweet story anyone could read and enjoy.
Don't miss this one it will keep you smiling for awhile.
I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

This was a Grand Finale of the wonderful Scoundrels Series! I loved revisiting some of the past characters & it is sad to see them go.

A horse & rider in the park is racing towards Emily Greenville, a 30-year-old widow, and she sees it but cannot move - she is frozen; until a man grabs her, pushes her out of the way of the oncoming horse and reckless rider and lands on the ground with him on top of her. Not just any him, but Tobias, the gentleman she has secretly had feelings towards, and the rider is none other than his niece.

Tobias Forsyth, 7th Duke of Heatherston, is a handsome Scot who is guardian to his niece - a hoyden, who is fighting the London season. Now she has almost run over Emily - a lady he has held in high regard but she had made it clear she wanted nothing to do with him.

Emily offers to help his niece through the season but this will also give Emily & Tobias a chance to get to know each other better & see what becomes of their hidden feelings. This was a funny, fun, romantic romp & a great finish to the series. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

When a Duke Desires a Lass is a super read. When Tobias Forsyth, Duke of Heatherstone needs to turn his niece into a young lady who will fit into the Ton, he seizes the opportunity to ask a lady he has admired for some time, when did niece almost runs down Mrs Grenville with her unruly horse.
As Emily is at a loose end and secretly likes the duke, she agrees. However, Emily has a secret - one she cannot afford to become public. Very quickly Emily and Tobias become friends, although she is disinclined to let this friendship develop into anything more because she had been cruelly treated by her husband of two months when abandoned. And what more this ‘husband’ was a bigamist by marrying her.
As Emily’s secret is on the verge of becoming public knowledge it is her duke who helps her and gives her her happy ending.
There are no antagonists in this book, which makes the story development all the more interesting and clever. I particularly liked meeting up with with characters who have had their own books earlier on the series. A lovely and welcome inclusion.
Yes, another super read.
Thanks, Collette!

A nice sweet romance and a great addition to this series and it’s a great change as our main characters are a bit older and past the “coming out” stage. Tobias has kept himself single, putting it off as long as possible. But after taking guardianship over his orphaned niece, Avery, he had promised that he would make sure Avery got a proper coming out and season when she came of age. Unfortunately, Avery is a bit wild and Tobias is a bit clueless on how to proceed.
Emily is a widow, but with a past that could ruin her and her family, a secret she holds close. A chance run in with Tobias and his niece during a morning walk, has her offering to help get Avery ready. With her sister a Duchess, and recently wed, Emily sees it as a chance to be useful. Tobias accepts her help. As they spend more time together, you see the walls around Emily’s heart begin to crack.
This is a sweet romance that I read in one sitting, and was a proper feel good story that had a great pace, one I have grown to expect with this author. This is the 15th book in the this series, but each can easily be read as standalones.

I enjoyed every moment of this book. It is the story of Emily and Tobias. Emily is a widow and has an ugly secret that causes her to rebuff every chance for another love. Then she meets the ruggedly handsome and irresistible Scottish Duke, Tobias. But can their feelings survive if her secret is revealed?
After her brother died, Emily raised her niece and helped her achieve a love match with a Duke. The couple love Emily and will take care of her beyond her needs but Emily needs another purpose for her life. With her secret preventing another marriage, she is having difficulty finding that purpose. When a narrowly missed accident introduces her to a handsome Duke and his ward, Emily finds the opportunity to be useful again.
Tobias first noticed Emily the previous Christmas but she had pushed him off. Now he has the opportunity to spend more time with her and hopefully she will notice his feelings and find him irresistible. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Tobias Forsythe, Duke of Heatherston, has come to London to give his niece Avery a Society Come Out, just as he promised his sister he would. He knows nothing about how to successfully accomplish his task. When they run into Emily Grenville (Avery and her horse almost run her down), she offers to help. Tobias is more than happy. He fell in love with Emily at a Christmas house party six months ago. He hopes to take this opportunity to woo her. Unfortunately, Emily was betrayed by the man she married. Will Tobias be able to break down her barriers and win her trust? A well-written delightful story and likeable, engaging characters make this beautiful ending for a very entertaining series.
Tobias and Emily are a lovely couple. The characters from the other stories made an appearance at the end, a birthday celebration, an engagement announcement, and a fond farewell.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Collette Cameron’s “When a Duke Desires a Lass” A Sweet Historical Regency Romance is Book 15, another delightful tale in the (Seductive Scoundrels Series ).

I was drawn into this story from the start and enjoyed it immensely! Ms. Cameron’s writing style is so captivating with her enchanting prose, her use of humor and fun, a tinge of suspense and a storyline that’s sure to please.

The characters are delightful, interesting, both Emily and Tobias along with the secondary characters as well. The author tends to create characters you remember long after the end of the story. Her writing style brings beautiful imagery that is vivid and colorful and you can feel the emotions that emanate from her characters.

This is a lovely, fun story about two people who were clearly meant for one another. It’s a charming, romantic story with a lovely ending.

Thank you once again Ms. Cameron for such an engaging and delightful romance.

From the first few pages, there is a sizzling connection between Tobias and Emily that builds upon itself as the book unfolds. Tobias is a gallant hero that I loved from the start. He feels and accepts his emotions, along with the impact they have on him and those he loves. Emily is a bright, independent heroine who closely guards a secret she believes will destroy any chance of love, marriage, and children of her own. As the chemistry builds between these two real and likeable characters, Tobias provides Emily the time and space she needs to find herself in his love. A thoroughly enjoyable read, this book can be read by itself or after having read the previous novels in the series. A slightly shorter novel, it is a perfect read for curling up with at night and getting lost in the romance the author creates.

WONDERFUL!!! When a Duke Desires a Lass by Collette Cameron is book 15 in the Seductive Scoundrels series and what a way to end a series. What I really liked about this book was that for once the hero, Tabias was infatuated with the heroine, Emily. It is usually the other way around. Collette has a true gift for story telling and she never disappoints. I found the beginning was great but the ending even better. I found this book to be original, it gave the real feel of the regency era, it had a slow burn, well written and just a delight to read. Just another great read by Collette Cameron!! This story has a lady that was betrayed by her husband, needing help with his sister’s come out, a bigamist, understanding, caring, not trusting men and falling in love. I am highly recommending you read this book!!!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

When a Duke Desires a Lass by Collette Cameron is book fifteen in the Seductive Scoundrels series and a definite must read if you love historical romances with plenty of fashion, parties, humor and ton society.
Emily Grenville doesn't quite know what to do with herself now that her niece has married and no longer needs her as much. Becoming a companion might be a possibility, but Tobias Forsythe has a different plan because he wants her to take his niece under her care for a proper Season.
Emily had never intended to marry again, but finds that she has feelings for Tobias. However with her past catching up to her she may not have a choice, but to leave before the scandal is known to everyone.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

This is such a sweet, endearing love story Tobias is the Duke of Heatherston, Scottish , charming, handsome and totally besotted with Emily Glenville. When last they had met things had not gone well. This time is is determined to win her over. He solicits her help in getting his niece, and ward, ready for her come out. She accepts the position but determines to keep their relationship strictly professional. Emily has a dark secret in her past that terrifies her to ever have revealed, and so realizes that she must never fall in love or wish for marriage. Easy enough, as she is thirty years old and well on the shelf. That is , until she spends time with the irresistible Duke!

This was a very sweet story. When the widowed Mrs. Emily Grenville comes across Tobias, Duke of Heatherston, she doesn’t begin to imagine that anything is going to actually develop. But let’s just say she’s completely wrong.

The story is all about how people should behave towards each other. About trusting oneself, especially when it’s a real leap of faith. Even in the Bon Ton, there can be people who are basically good.

Just a really pleasant, feel good story that I’d love to see more of. The author comes through again!

Simply charming in the wonderful style of this author, Emily and Tobias' story will bring a smile on your face!!

She was not looking to be married again after the terrible secret she was hiding from her first marriage. Men were simply truffle hogs and clodheads!

He had been struck from the first time he had seen her... yes she had rebuffed him, but now she was going to help bring his niece out into society!

A powerful attraction that cannot be denied, bring these two together as the handsome Scot and beautiful lady dance around each other! Simply loved it!

Tobias takes an interest in Emily. But it’s not until his petulant niece Avery almost runs her down with a horse that he gets a second chance at the widow with a big secret. Emily offers to help Avery with her debut.

I liked that Emily was thirty and Tobias, 36. He, a bachelor with a reputation and she a widow. Plenty of banter and engaging characters.

Recommend.

Loved the story of Tobias and Emily! The story was a quick read while still drawing in the reader with the story and keeping us entertained. Everything happened quickly but still kept the desire between the H/h front and center. I really hope we get Avery's story soon, hopefully with Marlow-Westbrook?
Thank you for the advanced copy, it was a lovely read!
