Secrets We Keep

Rate this book
Secrets we keep from our spouse, our lover, each other...ourselves. Secrets buried inside, some to fester, some to bloom. Secrets on a collision course that can't be avoided and must breathe the light of day...

Dylan Mitchell is dedicated to two things—his wife and his job. He's the agent who does whatever it takes to get his man, even if that means literally getting his man. It's part of the job, his duty. Besides, Dylan gets to hook-up with his hot-as-hell wife, Susan, once a month for a night of unfettered sex. It's all good. Right?

Ah...but those secrets.

It's not just a job anymore. Emotions are involved—his, Susan's, and Cabot Logan's, the man Dylan is supposed to put behind bars. His two worlds aren't about to overlap, they're going to collide. Real world and undercover. Secrets revealed. Secrets Dylan's kept from himself.

But Susan has a secret of her own. So does Cabot. Those secrets and that of others are on a collision course of their own. And the aftermath will change everything...forever...

This Fictionwise (I miss Fictionwise! Made it easy to try new authors.) gem has been sitting on my Kindle for two years and I'm trying to complete a menage challenge and this one came up.

Dylan has been undercover for 6 months and has been meeting wife, Susan, once a month to reconnect. Hot mf sexin' but Dylan has a secret, he's also fallen for his target, Cabot. He and Susan have had a few menages in the past so manlove isn't a surprise in their relationship.

Dylan decides he wants out and this causes Cabot, Susan and his paths to intersect and it turns into quite a hot intersection. Hot, yummy mmf.

This is a new author for me. Because this is a short novella, I wasn’t expecting to become so involved in the characters and the action. I liked each of the three and wanted everything to work out for them.
Cabot is HOT and is my favorite of the three. I must now find the author’s website and see what other Contemporary MMF books she has available.
A pleasant surprise.

3 threesome stars for SECRETS WE KEEP!

Susan Mitchell is in a mutually beneficial, monthly lust filled liaison with…her husband. Dylan has been working undercover for months, only seeing his wife on their once a month encounters. Both are desperate for him to be finished with his assignment, but in this case, Dylan is terrified that Susan will hate him for the things…the man…he's been doing in the name of work. Cabot Logan has been the target of Dylan's investigation…and lust, and his heart is far too engaged for comfort. He's sure the man is clean and is just ready to walk away from the job when he's compromised. Now he and his wife are on a yacht with the sexy Cabot, and after just a few minutes, neither are prepared to walk away from him…ever.

At first, I really didn't care for SECRETS WE KEEP. The biggest issue for me was the infidelity, even though it was done in the name of an undercover op. As the story progressed, however, I grew to really enjoy this book and the characters, particularly how Cabot and Susan interacted. I did find it laughable just how their little ménage progressed (aka fast and drama free, becoming perfect within hours). While the story was crazy hot in the beginning, the sex all but stopped halfway through, instead turning to focus on a light suspense. It was decently done…until the end, when the climax was completely rushed and the story felt unfinished. Even so, a light, if humorously unbelievable, and über sexy book was just what I needed on a hot summer afternoon, and I'll happily read any bisexual ménage by Ms. Willows in the future.

Bottom Line: OM (in the name of an undercover assignment) and yummy MMF sharing; varied condom use; no BDSM/kink; no sexual assault; light violence/murder.

Overall, the book was an easy read and it was enjoyable to "see" the relationship between the husband and wife. I think it simplified the potential ramifications of the husband's job and sugar coated the wife's reaction. The relationship between the three characters had a decent amount of emotional balance and was thought provoking. It was a fairly quick read and the ending had the HEA after that most of us are looking for. There was little to no emotional anguish between the main characters, but tons of angst facing the characters from outside forces.
