This book reminded me of the term copycats but of course it must have to do with crocodiles. So I was curious to read the book and see what it was all about. The story involves a character named Crocodile who has lived his whole life in the same pool with other crocodiles. He feels crowded and finally gets tired of not having enough room to move around and finds other places to go. But when he gets to the different places he discovers the other crocodiles have followed him. Crocodile finally gets fed up and asks the other crocs why they keep copying him? Their response is because he keeps “doing new and fun things” and he can’t tell them what to do. When Crocodile ends up back at the pool and he is the only one, he realizes how lonely he is and wishes his friends were with him. He decides he likes living in the pool with his friends, but sometimes he can get away to do something on his own. This would be a good book for students to read and learn that’s it alright to want to spend time with family and friends but sometimes they might want to spend some time alone and that’s OK. I enjoyed reading the book because I have felt like Crocodile at least once in my life. The illustrations are very colorful and playful and help to tell a very cute story!
This book is about a crocodile that is tired of sharing his space with other crocodiles. He tries to run away from them but they always follow him and copy what ever it is that he is doing. This story reminded me of both of my sons. My oldest hates how his youngest brother follows him around and copies him so I was hoping this book would teach my oldest why his brother likes to follow and copy him. Unfortunately my oldest didn't get the message of this book.
This is an entertaining book about individuality and the tendency for others to copy someone or something that is new, different or innovative.
The narrative is short and repetitive and the illustrations are colorful and cartoonish. I think that it would be good book to read aloud for 1st-3rd graders. I read this one independently, as I felt our girls would consider it too 'babyish' for them.

The book does provide a good message for kids; it is fun to try new things by yourself, but you will get lonely if you try to do EVERYTHING alone. However, the crocs in the story all annoyed me. The main one was kind of whiny, and the others had an attitude that I did not like. However, kids probably won't be as picky as I am, and may laugh at the antics of all of the crocs in the story.
Ages 4-8 Crocodile likes the pool where he lives, but he doesn’t like how crowded it is, so he sets off on his own. Unfortunately, every time he finds a great new spot, the other crocs follow him and start copying what he’s doing!
I liked how all the other crocodiles were these random bright colors, not only were they cute, but it gave me the opportunity to work on colors with my son.
A cute and fun book with simple drawings that makes you wonder what will happen at the end. Fun to read and great to introduce to young students about the issues of copying and sharing.
