The Nomad is alone. Midway through an endless journey across the stars, he must fight to survive. Equipped with little more than a small single-manned fighter, he must scavenge for what few resources can be found in a dead and decaying universe. His ship and equipment steadily breaking down, the Nomad is forced to rely on little more than his ingenuity in order to keep himself alive and the Fighter in the sky; all whilst being hunted by a race of mysterious sentient machines across the endless bounds of infinity.
D. R. Hill lives with his partner in the rural county of Devon, England. Graduating with a BSc in Biomedical Science from Queen Mary University of London in 2014, he left university without a plan, with an uncertain future, and a lengthy unfinished manuscript. After a short period of soul searching, D. R. Hill took a job at a local landscaping company and got to work writing. That manuscript quickly evolved and divided over the years that followed, finally becoming The Archmage Saga with the first entry, Rise Of The Apostate, making it to print in May 2018. Today, he continues to work for the same landscaping company whilst spending every minute he can writing, hoping one day to rival the likes of J. R. R. Tolkien or Arthur C. Clarke.
Seriously, this book has made me laugh, cry, and feel like a completely different person after putting it down. Truly I believe it is so well written and the story is so complex yet perfect despite being bittersweet. This is by far my new favourite book for many reasons, mainly being just how much personal thought and contemplation I had while reading it. Clearly there was a genuine passion and message behind everything that was happening, and for that it's become incredibly meaningful for me.
Highly highly recommend if you also like accurate well described Sci Fi and space , there's so much science and physics included that I feel smarter just having read this book.
What a gem this book was! Enjoyed every moment. Beautifully written, thought provoking. The reader lives the anguish of the Nomad. Thoroughly recommend it. Thank you!
I’ve only read a few other hard sci-fi novels that I’ve enjoyed but this has gone into the ‘great’ pile. Picked up off the back of the Archmage Saga by the same author. Completely different to this but equally as good.
