A mystery and Romance Book. This is the first book I have read by this author. Cady Long is a widow and new mom. Her pride and joy, Olivia, born after her father, Griff, was killed in action. He never knew he was going to be a father. Cady has inherited a big, old, Gothic home from her great aunt, Anita. The house was built on a large amount of property. Much land was sold. This in the city of Philadelphia. Much of the land was sold. But there are secret rooms, underground passages, tunnels. Someone was in her home, somebody tried to smother her. Three men are protecting Cady and Olivia, Griff's former sergeant, two buddies, Darius Creed, Brennan Abernathy. These three are going into business. But they are risking their lives. Whoever is after Cady will kill them if they get in the way.

Attempts are made on her life. Baby Olivia is nicknamed Baby-bug by the men. A cute nickname. The baby has her own room. I am surprised she doesn't room with her mother at her very young age. West and Cady decide to have a cupatea to relax. Is Cady really at risk? West drinks the tea, becomes very sick, rushed to the hospital. What is in the tea? A gift basket was given by the residents of the neighborhood to welcome new neighbors. The old house has many creeks and groans, many strange noises.

The police are called. One policeman is cynical. Cady has come from a bad background. Father an alcoholic, Mom on drugs, mentally ill. Young sister killed while being driven to the doctor by her drunken father. Cady go into foster care. The family brought her to God, but the way her life is going, she comes doubtful. And whomever wants to kill her has made several attacks. Who can hate her so much?

Cady and West become drawn toward each other, but do not want to realize this attraction bothers them. Should they allow these feeling to one another happen? Could it even word? Cady loved Griff so much. But life goes one. And is it dangerous to love? This or those evil ones must be found and made to pay.

A friend gave me this book to read. She thought I would enjoy the read. Good escapist book. So many folks like murder mysteries.

A book with a lot of different layers to sift through but an incredible read.

Cady inherited her Aunts house and wasn't allowed to change anything in it, or sell it for at least a year according to the will. Also she had to live in it for at least the first year. Cady had been married but her husband was a military man and had been killed in the line of duty.

Three of his close army buddies, one was his Sargent, have moved to her town and has been helping Cady and her little one, Olivia, or also known as Livvy or Baby Bug. It seems someone wants Cady out of the picture.

A really good suspense novel that will keep you guessing until the end of the story.

Jill Elizabeth Nelson ranks among one of my favorite authors for the sole reason that she always manages to incorporate things I love. In this book, she used one of the best movies of all time to name the main hero and then made jokes referring to the movie- The Princess Bride. That literally made me laugh out loud. I love this woman! Haha

That being said, this story was one that had you wondering what on earth could possibly happen next the entire time. So many fantastic elements were involved in a tale that ultimately led to a very happy ending. If you love old houses, secret passageways, and true love- read this book!

A wonderful Inspirational Romance by a very talented author Jill Elizabeth Nelson. Once I started, it was hard to put this book down. You are grabbed right at the beginning with the intruder in the house which no one can figure out how they got in. A widow with the help of her husbands military buddies try to figure out who is trying to get rid of her and how they are finding access to the house. A very suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns. A Christian based story with God at the core, leading the relationships and characters throughout this story.

This Harlequin book was surprisingly good. “The baby’s defender“ by Jill Elizabeth Nelson. The title is stupid. The cover is stupid. I expected schlock like others in this genre, but the book was actually really good. Perhaps because it didn’t focus on their relationship so much, but was storyline driven for a change. With only a few pages to go, I found a quote worth noting (pg 269):
“Your future is a blank page that beckons you to write whatever you want on it.“

I will definitely look for other books by this author!

The Baby's Defender (Love Inspired Suspense)

Cady had just inherited an extremely OLD house that has been in her family for generations. It just needed a few repairs in order to make it a bit more habitable. The only thing about that was that any renovations had to keep the house still in the same era as before. The house had to retain it's historic preservation. The only problem she had come across was to figure out who is breaking in her house and trying to kill her. This was a really good book!!!!

This is one of the best books I have ever read. It is action-packed and easy to follow, and the syntax on sentences are excellently portrayed in the characters' actions. I suspected who the person was who was terrorizing them, but I didn't know why. I was right, by the way, on the suspect. I would recommend this book to everybody out there who loves good, clean, Christian suspense.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense The Baby's Defender. Jill is one of my favorite LIS authors. She has a special way with suspense. This story is well written, action packed, and full of faith. I know you are going to love it.

Cady Long is a widow of a soldier that died in a foreign country before he knew he was to be a father. Olivia is such a blessing. She inherited a old Gothic Revival house that needed a lot of restoration. Three men from her husband's team are helping her restore the home. She hears a noise when she has finished nursing Livy. She went to her room and called West but is struck in the head and then pushed into her pillow to suffocate her. She is going to die! What will happen to Olivia?

Security Expert Westley Foster was a buddy of Cady's deceased husband. He has been discharged and he and his two buddies have started a security company. They are helping Cady restore her house when suddenly someone is attacking Cady. Can West keep her and the baby safe? Can he keep from falling deeper in love with her?

A journey of two broken souls trying to keep one step ahead of a cold blooded killer. God has a plan for this little family; a plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. Don't let fear consume you in the time of this pandemic. Give Him your heart, your trust, and watch Him care for you.

This one took me by surprise! It was SO SO good. The story intrigued me after reading the back cover but once I started it-I was immediately sucked in. Great characters and a fantastic mystery wove together seamlessly and I could not put it down. I highly recommend this one and I hope for stories about the other characters we met in this book.
