The Ties We Break is set before the events of Black Wedding, and does therefore not need to be read to follow the main plot and themes of the series. It does, however, feature back story about both Kian and Desmond, so it will add to the series. Two Words: Binge Worthy 👏🏻
This book, this story.. it was so eye opening into the beginners world of a Dom/sub lifestyle. It showed that not everyone’s story is the same and really you can play it by ear as long as you have trust in your partner.
Belle and Declan seemed to have that trust in one another from the very beginning and I love when people just click. They pushed each other to grow and explore their boundaries.
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with such a fast-slow burn (is that a thing?!) our main MCs do pretty much everything together, except actually sleep together until later on in the story!
However the spice was spiceyyy 🥵
100% recommend.

Declan is manager of a sex club where the auction will take place. He refuses to let her participate until she knows her limits as well as what she likes in other areas. Since she doesn't have enough time, she asks Declan to teach her everything without taking her virginity. He’s dark, sexy and enticingly broody so it's seems effortless when her walls start weakening. He can't bid on her so she'll need to be ever vigilant in protecting her heart. This author just blows me away every time. This book is a prequel to Black Wedding but provides perfection loved by many. Declan and Belle are the perfect opposition to one another. Their D/s relationship was believable and a great demonstration of the life. I couldn't recommend it more. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

Everyone knows that I love this lady and her books are amazing. So brutal and dark, what's not to like?
The Ties We Break is her latest release and explores the lives of Belle and Declan.
Belle saw her dreams slip away from her hands when she found out that daddy dearest spent all her money.
Money that she earned and was saving to follow her dreams.
She wants nothing with him. She wants to forget he even existed and needs money to try to achieve her goals again. So what better way this earned that money than by selling a part of you no one touched?
In comes Declan.
Declan is one hunk of a man. He's the manager of an exclusive club. A club with some peculiar tastes.
When he receives the request of a sweet girl to auction her virginity he's a bit reluctant.
How can she do that if she doesn't truly know herself?
Lord have mercy... Mercy I tell y'all.
This book... Jesus, this book was so freaking awesome.
Amazing plot, well written, engaging, and hot.
These two have this great chemistry and it shows.
She's pure and innocent and he's hard around the edges. Perfect combo right there.
How can you keep your heart away? How can you give yourself to someone without actually doing it?
I freaking loved this book. I lived how everything happened.
Loved their banter, the pull they had.
It was hot to witness some of the scenes... I needed a few cold showers. Just saying.

Emma has done it again. Absolutely loved this new book in her Beautifully Brutal series. This is more of a prequel to The Black Wedding and in a way a story of a beauty and her beast. This is Declan and Belle’s story and it definitely does not disappoint.
When Belle finds out that her father drank away her inheritance knowing she needs money and fast she turns to the very books that served as her escape from reality and forms a plan……auction off her virginity. But when she meets a BDSM club owner everything changes. These two have an instant chemical attraction that is off the charts. They are so in tuned and perfect together you just know they’re going to get the HEA they need and deserve.
I definitely recommend reading this book if you loved the rest of this series. And even if you haven’t read the rest I still highly recommend this and the rest too!!

This is a dark and sensual book that brings the reader into a world of unknown pleasures.
"Belle" has asked the impossible of her beast; but only he sees himself as a beast. What she is asking might be asking the impossible of these two, with the pull they have to each other is as magnetic as the strongest magnets.
At the end you are completely entranced and WOW what a scene, then The End.
So many questions, so many scenarios, so many days until the next.......

This story is fabulous. There is a lot happening to keep the readers interest. It is well written and flows well. I love how it has both their points of view. Although standalone, there are ties to Black Wedding.

I love this series, and I admit I wasn't as keen on this couple before I started. I was hoping for another one of the siblings or Kian's book. But I was super pleased that Kian plays a significant supporting role in this one.
We go back in time, to before Black Wedding, to see how Declan and "Belle" got together. Belle is a young woman on the verge of leaving Ireland to follow her dreams of attending medical school in Oxford. However, her father has used her inheritance, and now she has to come up with €30'000 within a month, or she'll lose her place and her dreams.
Declan is the manager of a sex club, which Belle's friend, Sian frequents. The girls devise a plan to auction off an evening with her in the club!
We follow the events of Belle discovering her sexual limits in the run-up to the auction and the growing connection between her and Declan.
I really enjoyed this one, with a good depth to the characters and excellent pacing throughout. Although we don't really get to see much mafia action, and I wouldn't really call this book particularly dark.
We do however get some good back story and lots of fun spicy scenes to get the juices flowing. It doesn't pack the punch that Kellen's story does, but still an enjoyable read, nonetheless.
I'm really looking forward to the next book, and it looks like it will be here by December, so not too long to wait.

When I first read The Ties We Break as a prequel in the Once Upon A Broken Crown anthology, I loved it, and when it ended I about died! I needed more! FINALLY…Reading the full novel this time was fulfilling and definitely gave me the story I was hoping it to be.
Well this book was everything I hoped it would be, and more! It is spicy as hell and I can’t seem to get it out of my mind! The characters are fantastic and fit so well into the Beautifully Brutal world. Our mmc offers to “educate” our fmc before she enters an auction to sell herself, since she’s a virgin. Things heat up & slowly get more tangled between them from there.
I really enjoyed their story and hope we see more of them in future books in this series. If you haven’t read this series yet, I’d recommend it, and start with Black Wedding.

This author does it again! I don’t think there is a book by this talented author that I don’t love. The Ties We Break is a delectably seductive read with an entertaining storyline and lovable characters. If you are looking for a clean romance, this is not it! Although it should be obvious given the premise of the novel. I had to crank up the AC and grab a fan while reading this steamy romance!
Belle is a heroine that I feel many people can relate to. She is naive in some ways and yet brave and daring in others. As for Declan, he is dark, commanding, and oh so delicious. These two together are dynamite and as they grapple with “catching feelings”, will they be able to overcome all obstacles in their way?

This is the 4th book in this incredible series and is Declan and Belle’s story. Belle was counting on her inheritance and saving for university, only to find out that her father has drunk it all away. Desperate for money, Belle goes to a sex club Shades, where she gets the idea to auction off something precious, but she was not counting on Declan, the owner. There is an instant attraction between these two, and they may be opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written story which is dark, raw, gritty, intense, and intriguing, with tension, romance, and love, which leads to a steamy and entertaining page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Very good book. Belle has gone through so much, my heart broke for her. With this book you will get drama, sex clubs, innocent female with alpha male that has enough heat that you won’t be able to put it down. Will Declan be able to save her from herself or will he pull her into his world and corrupt her? A great book!!

Belle and Dec's story was an incredible journey of self discovery. Belle needs money due to her father and auctions herself at a sex club, but in the run up Dec is her teacher and lines blur as feeling evolve and chemistry exploded between them. This was not all smooth sailing, as it was filled with drama, intrigue, suspense, violence and loyalty. Characters developed throughout and it was an enthralling and steamy read.

So sins of the father. When Belle’s father drains her inheritance she needs to come up with some money. She decides to auction off her precious treasure aka her virtue. But it is not so easy to do, she will have learn there is more to it. Declan is the one get her there more or less groom her without the actual deed. Page turning and engrossing read.

The Ties We Break is an intriguingly steamy retelling of Beauty and the Beast! Belle and Declan are complete opposites but the attraction toward one another is instant. This is definitely a book that can draw out one’s wild side. I connected with Belle on so many levels! The emotional growth these two characters take is strong. Declan and Belle are amazing characters that will have you easily falling in love. Emma Luna definitely wrote this for all the girls/women with the book boyfriends! Very well written and very great story behind these two characters.
I definitely recommend this book for others to read. This is a great series that I think others will love the characters!

Two words best describes this series: Binge Worthy. A great addition to this thrilling series. Emma Luna does it again!!! I don’t think there is a book by this talented author that I don’t like. With this book you will get drama, sex clubs and an innocent female with an alpha male, that has enough heat that you won’t be able to put it down. The Ties We Break, while it is book 4 in the Beautifully Brutal series, it is actually a prequel with events that take place before Black Wedding. While each book features a different couple, I recommend starting with Black Wedding and reading the books in order, as there is an interconnected storyline threaded through each of the books.

Isabelle is a shy innocent in need of a big amount of money after her funds depleted. Belle has gone through so much, my heart broke for her. Belle doesn't have a great home life, as her father is completely selfish, so she spends her time immersed in romance books. That selfish father of hers, lets her know that he spent all of her money and now she needs to make cash fast, to keep moving towards her dreams. Luckily her bestie has a solution and Isabelle jumps at the chance to enter an auction at the BDSM club. She also jumps through hoops to pass the entrance requirements set by the club manager Declan. He trains her in the BDSM ways to please her buyer. Declan is anti relationship, while Belle yearns for a book boyfriend romance. But the lessons between Declan and Belle are sizzling hot!!! This story was so eye opening into the beginners’ world of a Dom/sub lifestyle. It showed that not everyone’s story is the same and as long as you have trust in your partner, you can basically play it by ear. Belle and Declan seemed to have had that trust in one another from the very beginning. They pushed each other to grow and explore their boundaries. Belle is a heroine that I think many people can relate to. She is naive in some ways, yet brave and daring in others. As for Declan, he is dark, commanding and delicious. These two are dynamite together.
The Ties We Break is a delectably seductive read, with an entertaining storyline and lovable characters. This story has sweet emotion and HEA love. However, the spice was definitely spicy.🌶🌶🌶 You may need to crank up the AC and grab a fan while reading this steamy romance!!🥵🥵🥵 Declan and Belle are amazing characters that will have you easily falling in love.

While this book may not be as dark as some of Emma’s other books, those who have enjoyed her previous works will love Belle and Declan’s story!! This is a well written story that is dark, raw, gritty, intense and intriguing, with tension, romance and love mixed in, which leads to a steamy and entertaining page turner.
This is a dark and sensual book that brings the reader into a world of unknown pleasures. Emma Luna definitely wrote this for all the girls/women with book boyfriends!! I look forward to Kian’s story next. This one is definitely worth the read!!! I highly 100% recommend this series!!!

A good addition to this thrilling series. The timeline of the story happens before the other stories in the series and can be read as a stand alone. It does give a few details about our next hero Kian. Unlike the other stories this one doesn’t have any of the mafia elements, other than a few appearances by the outrageous Desmond Doughty. It’s a sexy virgin auction romance with a sweet beauty and a beastly dominant. Isabelle is a shy innocent in need of a big amount of money after her funds went poof. Luckily her bestie has a solution and Isabelle jumps at the chance to enter an auction at the BDSM club. She also jumps through hoops to pass the entrance requirements set forth by the club manager Declan. He trains her in the BDSM ways to please her buyer. Of course, lines are crossed when feelings develop. Declan is anti relationship while Isabelle yearns for a book boyfriend romance. If you read BDSM stories then quite a bit of the story will be repetitious with the lifestyle descriptions. But the lessons between Dec and Belle are sizzling hot! There’s a bit of drama and danger as the auction approaches with an evil buyer. For me Belle went in and out of her shy innocent virgin character at times and Dec turned into a softie at the end. Sweet emotion and hea love. I always enjoy this author’s intense storytelling and intriguing characters. I look forward to Kian’s story next. This one is worth the read!

I LOVE Emma Luna's books, and I LOVE this series with The Ties We Break being no exception. Belle doesn't have a great home life as her father is completely selfish so she spends her time immersed in romance books. That selfish father lets her know that he spent all of her money that she had, and now she needs to make cash fast to keep moving towards her dreams. She gets the bright idea of auctioning off her v-card, which is when she comes face to face with Declan. See, he manages the club that does those types of auctions, but he feels like she needs some lessons with him before hitting the stage. They have serious chemistry making the lessons super HOT HOT HOT, but it's not too long before they start to build another bond as well so how will that work with what she intends to do?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out, and if you're a fan of sexy dark romance, then you really need to find out as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I really liked Belle and Declan together. They were just so good!
Belle is a bookworm and doesn’t like people so she already got me there cause I happen to be both too. People can be annoying 🙈.
Declan is sweet and protective and sees himself as a beast and so how could I not love him too? They were a match made in heaven!
Shades is an amazing place and their sexy times were great including that FF scene.
If you aren’t sure how you feel about bdsm, this book is definitely a good place to start. It explains the rules very well and has various levels of bdsm.
Desmond Doughty revealed some important details that we didn’t know in the previous book and the whole situation has me very curious!
Kian is just the guy I’ve been waiting for! Seeing so much more of him in this one makes me even more excited to read his story!

You guys!!! Emma might have short circuited my brain a bit with this knock out of a book! Absolutely could not put it down I literally stayed up till 2am to finish it! This book is a prequel to the first book in the series and in my opinion it’s the spiciest so far as well! The 3rd book (Trust in Me) made me very curious about the man who resigned from working with Desmond. Declan and Belles story seems to be inspired by Beauty and the Beast if I’m not mistaken but with a much darker and smuttier twist! Declan manages the sex club Belle is brought to by her friend because she need to make lots of money quick and nothing more lucrative than auctioning off your virginity. Unfortunately she’s a complete beginner when it comes to anything remotely sexual and she needs some guidance. You see where this is going right? Emma writes kinks with such respect and the scenes are very well done. I can not wait to read Kians book!

This book while shows the reader a version of the dom/sub lifestyle the reader must realize that every individual has a different take of this lifestyle and they may not include all things in the book. With that in mind this book was an amazing read about Belle and Declan and the trust that they have in one another. The love these two have and the way they show it had me captivated. Reading has always been an escape and while I don't always like a slow burn, while this is not as fast as I like here style of writing doesn't make it feel like it is drawn out. The spice is on point and I can't wait to read more.

Another book knocked out of the park! This story was a beautiful tale with just the right amounts of spice where it needed to be. Bella’s story is amazing and Dec is the perfect match/mate for her! The turmoil they both felt melded with the plot just right and I couldn’t put this book down! Cannot wait for more and I’m excited to see what happens to Kian!

Who doesn’t love a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in a Mafia world.
I was so intrigued by Belle and Declan from the previous books in this series.
Wow this book did not disappoint , i loved them both so much.
This book like the others in this series had me gripped from the very first page and i didn’t want it to end.
I can't wait for more in this incredible series , I'm loving every single second of it.
