My name is Logan Greenwood, and I’d rather be anywhere else.
When I decided to come home to help my mom out of a rough spot, I had no idea how bad it would be.
But when a freak storm kicks up and I literally get sucked into another world, family drama is the least of my worries. I couldn’t get home if I wanted to.
And in this world – full of drop-dead gorgeous elves, nymphs, and dryads – the last thing on my mind is going home.
Only problem is, this perfect world is on the brink of war. As Drakkus, Lord of Chaos, and his minions descend upon my newfound paradise, one thing becomes clear.
Somebody has to stop this guy, and that somebody is me.
This is fiction with the male reader in mind. That means you'll get heroic battles between good and evil, lots of beautiful and powerful women, and a badass MC who slays on the battlefield and between the sheets.
Peter North has been writing "serious" SF&F adventures for many years, under another name. But there's only so long a guy can be serious before he starts to go a bit mad.
This is where Peter comes to play.
Inspired by Sword & Sorcery of old and HaremLit of new, Peter North's books are a place where men (and open-minded women) can come to experience the intersection of Fantasy and fantasies.
I wanted to like this book. It started off ok, but as it went along things did not build, but just got worse. Characters are bland, with no movement or growth. I stopped reading half way through when the guy that yells every line and is so obviously evil gets outed and everyone is surprised, including the people that knew him for over 100 years. I kept on asking myself “Is everyone blind and stupid?” Yes. The answer was Yes. Do not recommend.
This started out pretty good but I struggled to finish. I think the main problem is that the story became far to predictable and full of fantasy tropes. The characters were also very inconsistent. One was described as unstoppable once she had her magic staff, but twice previously it had been taken away from her by the same bad guys. I think the book would have been better if it had been shorter and the story tighter.
I thought this book was decent, although Logan is a bit of a chad 🤣 he wasn’t as bad as people in the reviews made him out to be. The story is actually good. I liked the characters and the spider Queen really intrigued me. I think this was a brilliant start to a new series. This is my first time reading anything by this author and I think North has made me curious enough to continue reading his books. I’m definitely onboard for book 2!! Onward, lads!
This is lazy. The characters, the story, the interactions, it all makes sense as piecemeal parts strapped together to achieve a specific goal that the writer was to lazy to achieve through a proper story with real characters. This is just another person who thinks a harem book is all 'harem' and no 'book'.
The sexual adventures of a former missing empire heir, could be a better title for this novel series. Main character, Logan Greenwood (last name is supposed to relate to the main character's male organ/member and how friendly it is towards the spirit-folk-women of this other "green" world) (like some of the worst porn titles/porn star names in history), went back to living in a trailer-park with his Mom because she had "drinking problems". Logan is in fact so worried about it, the first thing that he does in this story is go on a date with a girl that supposedly knew him from High-School. Then Logan gets isekai-ed (teleported magically/mysteriously) to another world, just at the right moment, so as to be able to save an incredibly beautiful and ancient Dryad (3k+ years old). Both the author and Logan forget about the troubling, possibly alcoholic Mom to go into a Sexual spree, that really never ends in this book series. It's as if the author had only 300 pages to get as many different sexual adventures in or his life would be forfeit (lose a bet, run out of naughty ink, etc.) Stories like this one lack credibility because main character does not seduce anyone. The second point, it is not possible that every female character that the main character encounters looks like an Amazonian Victoria's Secret Runway Model. So, yeah, the author has an incredibly low Emotional Intelligence Quotient and transfers to his main character, even less Emotional Intelligence, so much so, that his "little head" does all the thinking in this shoddy-try-at-erotica-in-another-world. But wasn't the Mom, the Empire's Queen then?? Why leave her behind, if she was sooo important to Logan, that he forgets her, the moment that he starts getting aroused by all the fantasy women encountered and seen in this whole other world?? Story could have been better described. Main Theme and secondary plot arcs needed to be not of the sexual adventures nature. Otherwise this is just smut/porn/bad. You see, sex is better experienced in the first person. People who like to watch, like to read about sex, well, are probably lacking in self-esteem or really don't have anyone interesting around them to risk the effort of having a physical/emotional relationship with (in real life). So, no. This story lacks a real/credible story. I'm not going to say that the main character is Mary-Sue-ish because it is basically a sex story, with a side order of fantasy world girls. I don't think Mary Sue's prowess goes into having poly-amorous intercourse/relationships with every girl that she encountered. I don't think Mary Sue would enjoy her name being "tarnished" in that way. No warnings about adult content on the cover or the inside. No inside illustrations, no maps, no character summaries, no world building (geography, economic, political, religious, social, descriptions or explanations).
Typical Isekai type tale. But there's good in the genre and bad. This... takes a lot of bad tropes. It's almost comically good? Let's break things down.
There are no real plot twists. Anything that would look like "what could this be?" Is very obvious from jump.
There are sexual situations that seem pointless other than to just have teasing. I say seem because the nymph thing does point to a use later so not totally useless, but still...
There are stories in this genre that are solid and have smut sprinkled in as needed, and then stories that are smut with a veneer of plot to type the scenes in. This almost falls into the second, but there's enough plot to totally throw it in that lot.
The main charter is rather unlikable. There's a difference between confidence and arrogant ass, and he falls into the latter it feels. I mean if the fact he doesn't force himself on the women is one of the only plusses, that's a very sad low bar.
Another reviewer commented he has whatever skill as needed explained during or after the fact, and they are correct. This Gary Stu that became a self made millionaire while at the same time being a fantasy nerd, so is such a great fencer he won competitions.
Though that's a thing, fencing is a different skill set using a foil vs an arming sword. Other tropes that learning too much has ruined for me (you can't draw a sword from a scabbard on your back). Bad guys being extra dumb for plot purposes. (Let's stop in an area with creatures in it that would kill us, for 'reasons'. Let's get a fire for trolls that are extra bad for trolls... let's not attack and overwhelm the noob MC as he stands around being inattentive in a fight, etc) is almost as bad as when the protagonists are dumb for plot tropes.
There are parts where author references people but doesn't explain who they even are, or vaguely after which is confusing, yet gives names to peons dead within a chapter? Descriptions of people are lacking and it leads to confusion overall.
There are nice descriptions of the setting, and decent smut, though all MC has to do is bare minimum not be a sex offender to have women all wanting him... it's power fantasy without effort
That lack of effort or feeling of actual stakes even when things are going on that should be nail biting feel like they fall flat almost make me want to mark this lower, but I'm still trying to claw my way to finish so I don't have to put DNF.
I'll update if it redeems itself somehow but it's not likely.
3.5 stars. It's alright but the MC isn't very likeable, and could benefit from a little sex addiction rehab. He's got sex on the brain. Just done with a romp? Too distracted, let's go again. In a tense discussion with a very dangerous woman who may just kill you? Hey she's hot, it'd be fun to make her submit. It gets tired real quick. He also may not be a rapist, but he's not a nice guy either. Humiliation, causing pain & discomfort, etc, the MC can't claim to be 'good' in a moral sense. He's also an expert at everything for no good reason. My other main complaint is that it feels like the author gets bogged down explaining things a lot, and often these explanations are repetitive, obvious, or otherwise unnecessary - get on with it already! All of that said, the world sounds interesting and I'll likely give the next book a try at some point, but you wouldn't be missing much if you passed this over.
Stumbled across this book and am really glad that I did. Overall great story with a perfect amount of adult content thrown in to keep it stimulating. Looking forward to reading more from this series.
“Elemental Empire” is an explosive series starter from what seems to be a debut author. The story delivers on expectations of the isekai haremlit genre, striking a perfect balance between satisfying expectations and delivering something new and exciting.
When successful business consultant Logan Greenwood goes back to his podunk home town to care for his ailing mother, he does not expect to be whisked into an alternate world of magic and mayhem. But once he’s there, freed of the trappings of the business world, he begins to truly feel alive for the first time. It’s an attractive fantasy, written well, and with loads of spice.
The interactions between Logan and the women he meets along the way, including a gorgeous auburn-haired, green-eyed dryad and a haughty blonde elf, service not just the fans, but the story as well. The author did a great job tying the bedroom action into the plot, which is always appreciated.
With five realms to explore, the author has set this up to be a five-book adventure. I see book two is already available, and he’s got book three on pre-order, so I’m confident we’ll get to see Logan fight and romance his way all the way to the end of the worlds!
Loghann hidden on earth since his birth return his rightful place in the distant relm .
Loghann a average human or he thought he was lived twenty eight years since birth with his mother in a trailer park until he left made something of himself to only to return to help his mother out . Only to return from work during a storm his mother has died an both bodies are transported to a distant relm he just doesn't know it yet an he wakes up in a strange different place unknown to him an he can't find his mother anywhere an don't know what happened to her for can't remember anything except where's his at for the moment .recommend reading excellent series .
It basically works. It could definitely be be better especially in depth: depth of characters, world, relationships. There is the fundamental structure of that harem-y goodness promised by the genre and cover. What is there is very "indulgent men's fantasy" and less thoughtful and riveting narrative. Definitely better than a lot of the stuff out there but also plenty room for improvememt regardless of inteneded genre niche.
It does appear that the author might have a vice for simpleton characters. Or rather, characters making frustratingly ovvious mistakes. It's slightly to ealy to say personally but it's the thing I've noticed that drives me nuts with his works.
"Elemental Empire" is the first book by Peter North that I've read. To be 100% honest, I wasn't expecting too very much from it given who the author is. I stand corrected. It's an amazing novel! I loved it, plan to read the rest of the series, and will likely reread it at sometime in the future - probably more than once. I wish that I knew which name Peter North writes his "serious" fantasy under. I'd start buying those books in a heartbeat!
This book reads like the novelization of an adult film. If that's not something that is going to offend you, then I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you read "Elemental Empire"!
The book was a solid story based on common tropes but the characters were likeable. The world building took a little bit to get there, was still enjoyable. The plot was rather predictable but enjoyable, however the main character didn't seem to understand his arch rival until the end main reveal, but for the reader there was no surprise. It was a fun simple enjoyable read and I'll look forward to book two for just the simplistic chance to read a good tale.
I give it 4 stars because the story premise is awesome, and I like the characters. I couldn't give it 5 stars because 75% of the story is just talking about the MCs sex drive and how much he wants the other characters, even in the middle of a plot twist. It ruined the suspense. There's a time & place for that, and I think the author just messed up the timing. But other than that, it's not bad.
Enjoyed this first volume and look forward to the next one. The characters are described with sufficient amount of detail that I can picture them as I run this movie through my mind. The sex is not too much or too often and doesn't interfere with the pace of the story.
An excellent adult fantasy adventure!!! Fun and interesting characters, good use of elemental magic and excellent adult fantasy activities!!! What an interesting world the author has began to guild for us to enjoy!!!
I struggle in some parts but I manage to finish it. The story is the standard isekai, chosen one, hero of the new world. The characters fail to deliver a good need spice to the mix.
This was a fun tale that had everything you need. A hero in over his head yet rises to the occasion. Action, adventure and spicy fun, that fit into the story well. On to book 2!
This was a pretty good book with descent characters. The story was well done and was hard to put down. The sex scenes were graphic for those who don't like that be warned. Otherwise it was a really good read.
This is my first book by this author. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I intend to read them all in anything else this author has written.
A world of magic, love, battles between good and evil, a strong man and his hot harem. With more realms, lead by beautiful princess’s to save, I look forward to the volume 2!
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and entertaining. The story and characters were interesting and engaging. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
It does start slow, but I'm glad that I continued to read! I had many chuckles and a few moments when I had to readjust myself while reading in public. I am ready for book 2, I cannot wait to see how much more "trouble" Logan can get himself into.
The characters are amazing in this book. We have someone with a poor upbringing. His Mom may have some secrets that were not told to him. Transported to a different dimension and let the action take place.
