Courtney Cain is used to seeing dogs that are sad or upset when they first arrive at the shelter, but she’s never met one quite like Ruthie the bloodhound!
Ruthie does nothing but howl mournfully when she’s in her cage, and when she’s not crated all she does is run away.
Courtney is particularly concerned since the Curly Bay Lake has been drained for repairs, and there are some very dangerous areas at the park where the dog could get hurt. The lake seems to be the only thing the citizens of Curly Bay can talk about, especially the mysterious legend of the lake phantom.
Could Ruthie the bloodhound and her unusual behavior have clues that will unlock the ghostly mystery?
The enigmas that surround the lake only continue to increase, and Courtney is determined to down to get to the truth.
In this adventure, Courtney gets a huge hound dog and nothing her or her coworkers did could make her feel less sad. She kept escaping and running off to be near the lake. The characters are engaging, the plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding a decent home for the hound dog Ruthie. A body is found by Ruthie and the man's killer is caught and brought to justice. I do recommend this book.
Never doubt the nose skills of a Bloodhound. This is a tale of a sad hound who knew where his dead master was but had a terrible time getting that message to resonate with anyone (except the guilty party who was worried the dog could surely point out the location of the body). A good animal cozy read.
I rated this cute cozy mystery a five star. I just loved The Helpless Hound book. The characters were sweet, caring, loving, animal lovers. Helping animals getting adopted. If was an extremely fun read.
What a wonderful series. Animal rescues are so hard but this series gives a hopeful heart with each read. I love that there is always something positive and hopeful with each book.
A good story and plotline; I'm not a huge fan when female sleuth seems a little dim on the obvious. I like female protagonists who are smarter, fearless
