The narrator voice was very monotone. At times the lavk of emotion made for difficult listening. . Every case was told so matter of fact and it felt lije too many xases were covered. Some could have done with more detailed. explanation A solid repetitive listen ideal for listener's lookkng for matter of fact info. Thank you net gallery and publisher for my arc. 3 stars
The history of each person is shockingly limited. I was gobsmacked that the entire section on someone as notorious as Josef Mengele was 2.5 pages long and only contained 2 small paragraphs of a glossed over version of the atrocities he committed.
Only providing each person a handful of pages limits the true account and proper remembrance of the victims. This felt like a rushed book with typos included.
Research was spotty and not well put together or organized. Could have put a lot more detail into each case rather than trying to cram dozens of serial killers into one book.
2.5 The author's writing could be very confusing often times. There were numerous typos. The stories were pretty good but I felt some could have had more details.
Not a bad book, just really wonkadoodle. It's not even about the few typos, but they talked about this woman that killed a few babies for like 10 pages but then Mengle, who killed 400,000 people in Nazi "experiments" gets 3 pages about how they identified his body. It literally did not talk about him in any other way. Also, I thought the book would be all doctors and nurses that kill but a good half were baby farmers or people that own boarding houses. Basically anyone in a position of trust. The chronological order was wonky too because the book was layed out like an encyclopedia, but within each person's story the narrative would skip around. The whole book just felt strange, although still intresting.
The narration had a rather monotonous voice. Each person has a startlingly short history. The fact that the entire section on Josef Mengele was about 2.5 pages long and only included 2 brief paragraphs of a glossed-over account of the crimes he performed left me in disbelief. Just more specifics, please. I would have preferred to hear more of each person's experience while having fewer stories. I enjoyed the quick read. Simply desired more depth! I felt like this book was too rushed with no preparation. If more information was included with fewer stories, it would have more potential for higher ratings.
SORRIES OF CARE GIVERS AND NURSES THAT KILLED THEIR PATIENTS THE LAST ONE FROM WOODSTOCK ONTARIO REALLY SURPRIZED ME IT WAS ON OLD FRIEND OF MY DADS MOE WHO WAS MURDERED BY A WOMAN THAT WAS HIRED TO LOOK AFTER HIM IN A CARE HOME.
I was just expecting more detail. I would have loved to have fewer stories but tell more of the story of each person. Quick read which I didn’t mind. Just wanted more substance!
I mean, it was stories of angels of death. Very monotone, pretty poorly written, lots of typos. Probably wouldn't have read if it weren't a gift, and definitely won't re-read.
Well researched and flows beautifully. The cases are fascinating, some I'd heard of, some I hadn't but all were meticulous in the telling. My only gripe was that I read it so quickly!
