There's no ducking out - the space race is on and Adventure Duck must defeat his new nemesis, the Wicked Walrus!Adventure Duck fluffs up his feathers and heads to the North Pole, where his ice-hearted enemy, Power Pug, has set up a secret space base. The pug's latest hench-animal, a super-smart walrus, is building a rocket to blast his master to Mars. But if it launches, the whole Artic will be wiped out! Can Adventure Duck and his new friend - an (occasionally) invisible reindeer - stop Power Pug from expanding his evil empire in outer space?
Steve Cole is the slightly crazy, highly frantic, millions-selling, non-stop author of Astrosaurs, Cows In Action, Astrosaurs Academy, The Slime Squad, Z. Rex and many other books (including several original Doctor Who stories).
He used to edit magazines and books but prefers the job of a writer where you can wear pyjamas and eat chocolate all day.
Steve just can't stop writing - if he does, strange robots appear and jostle him vigorously until he starts again.
In his spare time he loves making music, reading old comics, thinking up ideas for new books and slumping in front of a warm TV.
Adventure Duck and Ziggy the Zebra must thwart Power Pug's iced dessert-based plan to take over the world. This was very much enjoyed by the 5-year-old I read it with - he was shocked to find that Adventure Duck doesn't make up part of the common cast of superheroes - but it does have a great variety of voices to read, if you are a do-the-voices sort of reader. It was Reuben's first experience of a cliff hanger, which he found exciting.
My daughter enjoyed having this book read to her and I think she enjoyed listening to it as much as having the occasional picture to look at. I definitely think we'll be coming back to this once she starts being able to read books herself.
