38 WILDLY ENTERTAINING, HIGHLY PERSONAL ROLLER COASTER RIDES THAT HIGHLIGHT NEW YORK'S UNIQUE DNA. 38 more humorous, poignant, entertaining, and powerful short stories about a New York that is almost gone, chronicled by Manhattan-born M.G. Crisci, the critically acclaimed author of 18 books based on true events. This final volume of the popular series again exposes New Yorkers as arrogant, confident, aloof, and insular yet surprisingly self-effacing, thoughtful, sensitive, and willing to offer kindness and a helping hand to those in need. Among the memorable stories, you'll learn how a heavyweight boxing champion fell victim to a salacious rumor created by a cub reporter, how a high-powered New York executive lost his shirt negotiating with an Arab vendor, how an aging Walter Cronkite came to lead the UNLV marching band, and why the Russians and Chinese butted heads at the United Nations.

Matthew Crisci's third book of Only in New York. And more great stories and interesting encounters, and I do recommend reading the first two that came before this one. Only in NY 3 tells 38 stories, which span over 55 years and the five boroughs of New York City. I personally, live in upstate NY, and have never been to the City, but I absolutely loved reading this author's stories. One thing I do recommend (besides reading this book is looking at the sketches. Crisci writes "New Yorkers are a curious lot. On one hand, we appear to be arrogant, confident, aloof, insular, and maybe even a little callous. On the other hand, we have a DNA like no other city in the world. We can be other-worldly, kind, sensitive, and willing to offer amazing kindnesses to those in need." Crisci grew up in the city, so he understands all sides of the city. I read each story and kept coming back to "Why Warren Lucker?" I loved each story, and I could almost hear Crisci’s voice tell the story. He was once on our podcast, and read for us, and now, when I read his work, I hear his voice telling the story. Simply magnificent. The stories will tug at your heart, make you smile, and even laugh out loud. This unusual trilogy is meant to be read and cherished. Crisci is the son of American. I know from the author that this book was written to tell his legacy of stories to his children and grandchildren, and each one will receive the hardcover version of this story. I must say that this book deserves to be on everyone's shelf, hardcover or paperback, and yes, if you must, kindle. Only In New York 3 is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading more titles by this author.
An entertaing and compelling read If you want to enjoy little adventures during an afternoon, this book is the perfect option. As usual, I´ve selected one of M.G. Crisci´s novels. “Only in New York“ is a compelling collection of 38 true stories that occurred in the big Apple. Every story has a peculiarity that entices the readers, in fact, it happened to me. Some of them are really funny, others are a bit moving but from each of them you can learn what was happening 55 years ago or just learn about that wonderful city in the past. It´s a well-written book with interesting true tales. I was particularly amazed by the stories “Bonfires in the Brons” or the “The world´s most expensive cafeteria” and I loved the last one about a couple. I found it lovely. Another thing that I liked a lot were the images that accompany those tales. I love Crisci´s writing style so I highly recommend this one.
Only In New York, Volume 3 by M.G. Crisci is an amazing collection of stories which will make you reminiscence of a time lost in the past. These are just not stories but an echo of a beautiful time spent. Each is unique and nostalgic and the author has made an effort to make the reader belong to each story. From a teenager’s recollection of memorable events during a summer spent on Long Beach to misadventures of a New York family planning to vacation at a secluded resort, there’s always fun, humor and impact of emotions of people involved.
Truly an admirable job by the author with the flow of narration on how each story evolves. I was glued the minute I started reading and I have enjoyed each and every page of it. I am sure anyone who loves New York will definitely love these unique stories as they tell about an introspect of the place. I highly recommend this book for its rich content which is truly enjoyable and becomes a memorable part of self.
It’s no wonder that the city that never sleeps would be the source of incredible adventures, but capturing them on paper is an entirely different story. However, author M. G. Crisci manages to do just that in his brilliant collection Only in New York: 38 More True Big Apple Stories Spanning 55 Years and 5 Boroughs. This edition makes the third book of the author detailing his experiences with a multitude of people and places. The book is truly a peek into a life lived through a change in era and times, and as such seems a sort of eternal tribute to the people of New York. The storytelling is simply brilliant and the book is a swift and entertaining read. I really enjoyed reliving the adventures with the author and will definitely go and read the first two volumes as well.
Since I finished the previous book, I am waiting anxiously to read this final installment. As all the works I have read by M.G. Crisci, this third and last book in the series “Only in New York” is formed by good stories very well written. The book is composed of 38 stories that are short but charged with great and really interesting content. They are all set in New York city, of course. I liked how the book is structured. The stories are easy to read and each of them is accompanied by simple illustrations and graphs that help with the interpretation of the narrative and make the act of reading very entertaining and pleasing. I recommend it. The stories are fun, moving and they are told through wonderfully crafted characters.
“Only in New York Volume Three” is the third magnificent compilation of thirty eight short stories that describe the truths, perks and greatness of the big city of New York. This book is perfect for both lovers of this celebrated place, and for those who have never had the chance to set foot there. Reading this book is a way of touring the city and getting to know new yorkers. Though I consider that some stories are more entertaining and breath-taking than others, all of them are worth reading and provide a gist of this magic metropolis. I believe that Crisci writes in a special way that touches my heart and blows my mind, and for this reason I give his book five stars. It is unforgettable!
"Only in New York vol. 3" is a compilation of stories gathered by M.G. Crisci, the author, over the year passed in that intriguing worldwide known city. The book has a little bit of everything, there are 38 "true" stories, some are happy, others sad, some are really unbelievable, and others kind of silly.
I have encountered feelings about this book. On the one hand, I find some of the stories hilarious, but on the other, I could see how egocentric and arrogant New Yorkers can be, and since the book is written with real stories, it makes me more sad than amused. The book overall is good, but a little bit pointless if you´re doing nothing to change these events, let's face it.
Same as previous ones, the third (and final) volume of “Only in New York” by author M.G. Crisci is a comprehensive compilation of unique stories taking place in that Cosmopolitan city.
Many books, songs and films delve with experiences in The Big Apple, from both sides: citizens and visitors. But M.G. Crisci takes this “trendy” topic and presents it with a style and rhythmic pattern that is engaging and stimulating, suitable for all kind of readers. The author takes short stories on a new level by showing the city's true nature in this gripping spin of events. I earnestly invite you to get your own pleasure from all the stories. Highly recommended.
ONLY IN NEW YORK, Volume 3: 38 More True Big Apple Stories Spanning 55 Years and Five Boroughs by M.G. Crisci is the last book of this excellent series. Still, it can be read perfectly independently. In this case, the author tells short stories about new yorkers based on real facts. Each story is different, some are funny and happy, others are moving or sad; but all of them are enjoyable. I think this book is very easy to read because the author is really good at storytelling. I can imagine these tales like every day New York adventures. Its fast pace and engaging plot make it great to read in short free times periods! I recommend it!
Those who have visited New York and those who have not will learn a bit more about the famous city by reading this book. It is based on 38 short stories. They are entertaining and humorous, which makes them even more appealing. They are written in a way that's easy to read. The book gets better as it goes on, which is why I finished it quickly. New York City is a fantastic writing setting in which to write a story. Many people desire to come, and many imagine themselves living here, so it's no surprise that writers choose to set their stories in this amazing concrete jungle. I absolutely loved this book.
This is the third book in the Only in New York series which comprises stories of New Yorkers. I found this book really interesting because with each story the author shares part of the culture of this great city. M. G. Crisci is a talented author that has books with stories based on true facts, something I really like. I have read many of his books and this is why I have chosen Only in New York 3. The narrative is very good and the content of the stories is entertaining. There are stories of any kind; some made me laugh, so others made me feel a bit sad. This diversity is something I find very interesting. Without a doubt, I will recommend this book.
I think most of the world population is attracted in some way by New York. The city that never sleeps is a part of everyone’s imagination and is deeply rooted in our collective consciousness. So, it was very interesting to read about normal everyday situations that happen in the city through the eyes of M. G. Crisci. Only In New York: 38 true big apple stories spanning 55 years and five boroughs is truly an immersive tale of the city and its people. And for sure, at least one of the stories will resonate deeply with you, giving you all the feels. The author writes well and gives a testimony to his love for the city.
"Only in New York" is a really good book to transport the reader to a few decades back in the big City. The narration is very attractive and each story has different tones. Some are kind of tragic and some of them are funny stories.
Author M. G. Crisci did a really good job with the narration and storytelling with the experiences he had; it keeps the reader entertained throughout the whole novel.
It is really attractive to know these are true events and being the third book I can't wait to know what other stories the author has shared before. I'll definitely check the other two books.
