First impressions: The cover caught my eye at first as I am fascinated with anything to do with clockwork, then the title piqued my interest. After reading the summary I knew that I had to read this and I am happy to report that I loved it even more than I had expected!

From the front cover, complete with peep-through holes, your little one will be fascinated (I know I was and I'm much older than the target market!).

The story begins with wolf, an inventor who is known to be the cleverest in the land. She has machines that can do pretty much everything! But she has even bigger dreams so she begins to research making a machine that will change the world. In the process of gathering the materials she needs to build her machine she venture out into the wider world, helping others and building friendships along the way.

I dare you to read this without getting a little feeling of warmth in your heart as Wolf gives and experiences kindness on her journey. The cut-through and fold-out pages keep this endlessly entertaining, while each character Wolf meets along the way is drawn with bright eyes that are full of character. Wolf finally builds her machine, but then begins to wonder if the machine being completed is really the most important thing she has gained.

I fell in love with this from the start and I am sure that you will too! I will be looking out for more from this author and illustrator.
