Getting Started With HORSE Poker

Rate this book
Getting Started With HORSE provides everything you need to be comfortable sitting down in a game in a casino or online, with advice from three world champions explained in simple terms that anyone can understand. Mixed games don't have to be a mystery anymore!

Chris 'Fox' Wallace is a poker coach, author, and professional player who has been featured on major training sites, written multiple books on the game, and worked as a coach with some of poker's biggest stars. His column on game theory was a regular feature in Bluff magazine for years and his private students have won millions of dollars. Fox won the $10,000 buy-in HORSE World Championship in 2014 for over half a million dollars, surpassing a field that included many of the world's greatest players.

Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi won the $50,000 buy-in Players Championship, the world's most prestigious mixed game tournament, a record three times. He is one of the most feared mixed game players on the planet with over $17,000,000 in tournament winnings.

Robert Mizrachi is a master of mixed games with WSOP bracelets in Pot-Limit Omaha, Seven Card Stud, Omaha High-Low, and Dealer's Choice and fifteen more final tables. He has nearly $8,000,000 in tournament winnings and has earned millions more in cash games.

These three players worked together to create this book to bring more players into mixed games. They all love the challenge of mixed games and hope that this work helps grow the games and help so many players who, like them, are bored with the grind of no-limit holdem.

The games are handled individually, each with their own chapter on strategy, hand reading, and common mistakes, as well as dozens of hand examples. Getting Started With HORSE will demystify the fixed-limit betting structure and help any player become a winner in these games. Everything from starting hand values to correct bet timing and more is covered.

No book has ever covered the topic of hand reading in most of these games, a skill that is absolutely essential the stud games. Now you can really understand what your opponent is thinking, and often even know exactly what they have.

"Between 2007 to 2011, I won five bracelets. After endless hours of play at the WSOP, when it got down to the end of the second day, too often for my liking there was a Mizrachi on the final table. Robert was the solid tactful one, Michael the aggressive head banger type, the guy who could send you home early. I wondered how good a player would be if he had the best of both these qualities. I guess that's the purpose of the book on horse!"

- Jeff Lisandro, 2009 WSOP Player of the Year.

Not bad

The authors obviously are very skilled, smart and experienced. I think the writing style though is a little weak. A better format might lead to better teaching.
