Just so you know, I have NOT read the original book series. Not at all. Thank GOD that people are churning out graphic novel versions of "bestseller" books so I don't have to read the shitty things.

I've enjoyed this series, I guess. It almost makes me wonder if I'm missing something great by not reading the original source...ALMOST.

With the graphic novel, I can "see" the characters and how they act and are portrayed much more easily than if I were to read the book. My perceptions of the characters and the story are null when reading the graphic novel. It forces you to keep moving with your eyes instead of stopping at a bit and saying, "Screw it. I'm done. This is BS."

That being said, here are my complaints about the story (not the graphic novel, but the whole shebang as a whole):

-First off. I don't know EXACTLY what it is, but there's something about James Patterson's writing that I hate. I don't know what exactly..maybe it's too...free? It's not e.e. cummings-free, but the words and the story seem a little bit..too easy. There doesn't seem to be any real...life in the story. It seems cliche right off the bat (from the few excerpts I've read from different books I've picked up) and ...hollow in a sense.

Also, I hate snarky female leads. This is probably because of my personal preference for my women to be sweet and silent and beautiful, like a Yamato Nadeshiko . I want my girls softspoken, but not wimpy and jello-like. Matriarchs to me are so old-hat. I want a man to take charge of kids. That NEVER happens.

Also, how old are these kids, anyway? 12? 14? I could tell by Fang's blog posts. Seriously, I can't take him...seriously since he bailed on Max like that. What an asshole. I don't give a damn if Ari tried to kill you guys. Did you SEE the poor guy's face? He doesn't have the ability to be deceptive. He hasn't even pulled the "pretend-to-be-nice-and-turn-on-you-at-the-last-minute" trick yet. At least give him the chance to! What the hell Fang, since when do you read TV Tropes?

So the "comedy" wasn't funny in this series. Not really. At all. I find Gazzy to be a stupid kid, and his flatulence-based name and "ability" is so embarrassing for me to read. Like, it's embarrassing that people actually find that shit funny. What am I, 3 years old? Fart jokes are stupid as fuck. Get some real humor, like black comedy. That shit's hilarious.

Nudge was a cute gal, and Angel..what a piece of work.

And Ari...my heart went pitter-pat when I first laid eyes on him. God is he SEXY in this graphic adaption! Bestill my heart! What's that, he's only seven years old? Can't hear you over the sound of my squealing! God I wanted him to jump Max's bones so bad xD

And what the heelllllll is up with all of these bombs being dropped? BAM! BAM! BAM! Seriously. Quit it.

And here's another thing I have a real problem with.

This pushing for environmental awareness. Save the Earth. Stop the adults from ruining it. Seriously, that is such a childish thing to advocate for. That's kind of what made me hate Fang. This idealistic, "yeah let's do this!"-bedsheet-banner-wielded-by-6th-graders-image that I get from reading the shit Fang is blah-blah-blahing about.

Seriously? You think you can make a difference? You should really be worrying about the fact that there are people who are EXPERIMENTING ON CHILDREN IN ORDER TO CREATE FREAKS OF NATURE.

Human Rights > Saving the Environment

So naive how those kids posting think. It's like no one has even thought of taking steps to save the environment, like it's a whole new concept nobody's ever thought of before.

You really think it's THAT simple? That all of these adults are just "out to get" Mother Nature? Let me tell you, sometimes things happen and it's a result of progress.

There are farmers in the Amazon who have to (well not have to, but it's the only way they know how) use slash-and-burn tactics in order to farm and support their family. That's the only way they'll be able to earn money in order to not starve to death.

Air pollution has been with man since the first fire was made. Metal production will undoubtedly cause exhaust to be emitted. Developing countries who want to inspire their people in a not-so-positive way will try to harness nuclear power. As long as there are dogmatic and crazy people in power, there will always be that threat of totally radical energy being unleashed onto the Earth. Where there are developed countries, there are gas-guzzling, light pollutioning (made the word up, shut up), litterbugging metropolises.

And another thing. Developing countries who are emerging from their standard agrarian culture and economy will first transition into a crude manufacturing economy. They'll be using methods and technology from the 1950s and 1980s, when there were very few limiters on pollution and waste of resources. It costs less to use them; hear that? There is not enough money for those people to use water filters and electric powered cars and whatnot. And half the reason water is so dirty is because people are so poor they have nowhere else to go...so they go in the river. And people drink that water and get horrible diseases. Instead of "saving the environment", why don't you go help better peoples' livelihoods instead? That way they'll spend more time improving the environment in turn.

People first, world second. The world can't help the people, but the people can help the world. Need to get all the recruits you can get.

I waited 4 FREAKING MONTHS FOR THIS BOOK (library copy) and frankley, I was disappionted. Sure, you gotta love the chibis (SO CUTE <3) and I love Max's smart aleck lines. But James P. has done better. I bet he wrote this book partially to piss off "Mang (Fang/Max)" fans. But it still is a good book- but it has flaws. Here is a detailed summary.
SPOILERS AHEAD
**Spoiler Alert**
So it starts off from when manga 5 ended (Angel holding a very scary scythe and saying "Goodbye" in a sorta psycho way). Ari appears and rips the cage open (in wolf form). Nudge freaks out, and says (actual quote) "Angel betrayed us! She's going to let Ari eat us!" Then Max is like "Um no, I sorta made a plan behind your guys back with Angel. If the worst happens, which it did, Angel would become a spy. Oh and I dont know why I didnt tell you guys. Teehee." *SMACK* She decides to take Ari with the flock, and completely overlooked the fact that he almost killed Fang, and tried to kill them like a hundered freaking times. Fang got p.o.'d by Ari, and seperates from the flock. Iggy and Gazzy go with him, leaving Angel, Max, Ari, Nudge, and Total. (Oh yeah, Total, the toto talking dog? Ari happened to have him in his coat for some reason.) Max's Flock head to Europe. They tour around having fun, and then they find a HUGE Itex Corporation, and sneak in. They get caught by the Director, and she claims she is Max's mother. [Why couldn't my mom be a nice hooker, or a crack addict like Fang's? -Max. xD Best quote everr.] Meanwhile, Fang's flock is in L.A., and Fang's blog is getting quite popular(roughly 972,000,000 kids visit it)
They (Back to Max's flock) are all locked in chains in a dungeon, and they eventually get out of the chains, e-mail Fang
and tell him to hurry up and come help them NOW. They are caught, AGAIN. Back in chains, Jeb
shows up. [I still wonder how the heck he gets around so fast.]
He tells them the Director isn't really Max's mother.
While Fang's Flock are in L.A., Fang gets Max's E-mail. He posts on his blog for kids
in Europe to literally attack the Itex building Max is in.
The Director brings everyone out into this big yard, and shows off the kind of people
that will make it in the "new world". One of them is Omega. The Director had Omega&Max
fight to the death. While they're fighting, Angel controls all the other experiments in the
yard [that were supposed o be terminated soon.] to start attacking stuff. Max is fighting Omega,
and Angel, Nudge, Ari&the other experiments are fighting Flyboys. All those kids
Fang told to attack the Itex building? They came. The Director sent Flyboys after them, but all the
Flyboys crashed into the fence, which was electrified, so they were all destroyed. The kids
bust in, Fang's flock shows up, and Max kicks Omega's butt, even though he was designed "perfect." Ari during this. :'( His expiration date came, and it was sad. So the Flock is back
together, and they had figured out Jeb is Max's father, Ari is[was.] he half-brother, and Dr. Martinez is her biological mom.

My thoughts: one, what is with all these bombs being dropped on us?!? CANT U GET IT STRAIGHT?!?! "O max, this psycho lady is ur mom. No she isnt, i am your dad, and your mom is a woman who looks NOTHING like you!"
Also, Jeb said he had no personal relationship with Dr. Martinez. AND YET YOU HAD A DAUGHTER TOGETHER?!? So u played the cards with a woman u barely knew just to make a bird kid?!? WHAT. THE. HECK??

So, read if you want to. Not the best Max Ride book, but fairly good. Ciao!

Eh, better than volume 5 which was full up with Daniel X garbage halfway through, but the Maximum Ride storyline is just kind of convoluted and weird at this point. I understand that Max is a genetic test tube baby mixed with animal DNA and they want to eliminate her... but I don't understand the 'save the world' voice... thing... and the group dynamic of breaking up just to get back together when the separation different ever do that much other than some pseudocute Max/Fang moments.... I like the art, but I can't say I'm really into the story much.

Total the talking Scottish terrier is still SO over the top.

A pretty lovely read. 'Maximum Ride, Vol. 6' continued the adventures of Max and her flock and it was pretty exciting. Lots new secrets were revealed and even I was pretty shocked. I was amazed by how much the flock had evolved since six months ago and by the many new things flying their way. I was kept reading and well intrigued through out the whole novel. I really enjoyed the fact that it was so easy to read through.
Congratulations to James Patterson on having the SIXTH instalment in his manga series published!

Maximum Ride vol.6 By: James Patterson
Have you ever wondered if there were any secret things going on in the world? This Science fiction book is one of my favorite books of all times.
This book takes place in Europe six months after Max and the flock started their journey. In the beginning Max(oldest in the flock) and Fang(strongest in the flock) got in a fight about letting Ari( used to be a bad guy) travel with them then they decided to split the flock Max, Angel the youngest, Nudge the talkative one, and Ari and then its Fang, Iggy the blind one, and Gasmen Angels brother. Then Max decided to use Angels power to get on a plane to go to Europe Because they could not fly there with no where to stop and rest.
Then after spending a day in Paris Max and the group find where science experiments are being held. Then they listened to the head women talk about the new world of science experiments. After that they went to look for a computer then when they found one they sent an email to Fang. But they got caught and the head women told Max that she was her mother. Then Jeb( helped the flock and Ari's father)told Max that the head women is not her mother. But told her that he was her father then Max asked who her mother was then he told her Dr. Martinez(learn about in an earlier book and she is a vet)is her mother. In the end of the book Max got in a competition with a science experiment then defeated by Max.The conflict is person vs person because Max is fighting on what the right decision is.
This is one of my favorite books because it has action in it.The main character Max is my favorite character because she does not like peoples help and is really strong.I didn't agree with Max and Fang spilling because they need to stick together.I couldn't understand why that women lied to Max about being her mother. My favorite part is when Angel told the head women what all the experiments were thinking.I was surprised when Jeb told Max that he was her father and that Dr.Martinez was her mother i never saw that coming.

The book that i read was Maximum ride,Vol.6(Maximum Ride:The Manga, #6) and it was written by James Patterson. The genre was fiction. The theme was not judging a book by its cover because if you only look at the cover you may not think it is good even though you may like it.

The beginning was about how they were trapped by the school and they escaped. The middle was about the group running from the school and the flock splitting up. The end was about the flock saving the world.

I liked a lot about this book I really liked how they put a lot of detail because it made everything easier to understand and it made everything seem like the real world. I also liked how the author chose his word choice because it was real easy to find out what the tone was. I didn't like how the author didn't fully explain everything out fully.

Overall i thought this was a really good book, and it would be a good book to read.I gave this book 4 stars it was good enough to be 4 stars but, it wasn't 5 stars because he didn't fully explain everything.

Maximum Ride by James Patterson is about (main character) Max and what goes on through her life, she was separated from her flock to find their enemy's base (ITEX). Max was with half her flock ( Nudge and Angel plus Ari) getting away for eraser's which were considered robots, which were rebooted into fly-boy's. so as they were running away, they started to enter ITEX, and decided to destroy there clones. But what they didn't know was that it was a trap. Max, the main charterer, was trying to escape with Nudge and angel until they were caught by this mad scientist claiming to be her mother. But she was really the crater stating that she was a Hybrid. throughout the story she was locked up and said by her enemy that Jeb (another scientist) was her father who had created her. eventually, she believed him and went on. the crazy scientist had created a very strong, fast, and intelligent hybrid to defeat max. But she beat him. In the end, Max figured out by jeb who her real Mother was and was shocked to know who she was.

Since Max has brought Ari into the flock some of them aren't happy. I see their point since Ari has tried to kill them over and over again, but Max thinks he's changed and is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Fang is not willing. For the first time the flock splits up. Max leads some to Europe intent on finding answers to saving the world at ITEX headquarters. While Fang takes his group west back to California. Fang writes a blog to get public interest and people on board with what they're doing. ITEX's plan is to cut the world's population by half....and they don't care that they have to kill half the people to do it. Only the strong, most useful will survive.

This was another volume that was difficult for me to rate. I'm not a fan of the source material it was based on. Don't get me wrong -- I love the Maximum Ride series, but this was one of my last favorites parts of the series. The whole idea of . However, what saves this for me is the art. NaRae Lee is just phenomenal as ever. The fact that she's made these part of the series so enjoyable is a testament to her skill!

There a tough decision to be made. so the flock separates with max and fang being the two who are spiting and the other decide who to go with. Fang heads west and max heads to London, while heading west he find a group of people who recognizes him from fang blogs and they help him out from a ambush of robot erasers. while max is imprisons and is told that the evil scientist is her mother but later Jeb tell her that the evil one is not her mother and jeb is her father and her mother is Dr. Martinze that when max felt a relief and a storm of sadness came over and she broke down.

Edit: The manga is faster-paced so you won’t get the actual storyline context like the novels. I will say it’s more-so a rating out of pure reading enjoyment like watching a tv show rather than literary experience. The maximum ride storyline itself isn’t… the greatest. But seeing the characters come to life in manga form and some of the scenes play out visually has been a great experience from reading the novels when I was younger.

5 star rating out of all the volumes so far because the art in this one was just INCREDIBLE!!

This book was amazing and it took a lot of turns! Fang, iggy, and Gazzy split up from Max, Angel, and Nudge because Max invited Ari (who tried to kill them) with her. Max and the girls (+ari) entered Itex, Max found her mom but turned out the weird director insane woman wasn't her mom, Max's mom is Dr. Marteniez. Now everything is in an uproar in Itex Headquarters and Fang and the boys are on their way to help out. I can't wait to read the next book!

Important Note: The rating is for Lee Narae's illustrations ONLY; please read my series review of the original books by James Patterson here if you'd like. Spoiler alert: the books suck. I only read the manga adaptations because I was reading the books at the same time and it's a shame the beauty of the illustrations is wasted on such a shitty series.

Pacing is a little wonky, as to be expected with the series. The art is more crisp and more detailed in this installment than the previous ones. There are also some more lighthearted moments.

I’m so happy Angel didn’t betray everyone. And it was so sweet to see Ari tag along with the group, his story is a sad one. I remembered from back in the day that Fang started to be an ass somewhere along the line and apparently this was that time.

It may just be that I didn’t like this as an adaptation, but I feel like if I reread the main series now I wouldn’t love them the same way I used to.
This felt very preachy and forced, and not at all like a group of children, I know that’s how the novels felt towards the end but I don’t remember it happening this early.

Just call this volume the issue of shocking reveals. There’s a big reveal about Angel. There’s a big reveal about Ari. There’s a big reveal about Max, two in fact. Not to mention fight after fight as the flock breaks up. Action packed and feel shredding all in one.

This series is based on the James Patterson novel series Maximum Ride.

This series has 11 volumes.

I think Maximum Ride Vol.6 is a great book because it has some really exciting moments. They should have made the book longer. I chose this book because the series was getting really good, so I wanted to see what happened next. The flock separate, and Max, Nudge, and angle go to Itex and find an army. I think people who liked the past book should read this book.
