Patience is a virtue I don’t possess and now I may be paying the ultimate price for my impetuosity. Since I couldn’t wait a year until I came into my trust fund, and also neglected to do my due diligence, I borrowed money from someone I shouldn’t have— my old high school nemesis, Tomas Malone— and now it’s coming back to bite me on the ass. I need to come up with a quarter-mil fast— like, yesterday— or I could end up as gator bait. So how do I go about solving this conundrum? Genius that I am, I auction myself to the highest bidder— and end up jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire when Tomas bids on me… and wins. Now I’m in deep doggie doo… or am I? Still, things are not always what they seem. This is a friends to enemies to lovers second chance m/m romance novella with a blend of drama, light angst, and sweet and a liberal dash of heat.
I live in the Deep South in Louisiana with my daughter and grandson. I love to read, fish, travel, take nature walks and spend time with my family when I'm not writing.
This was a quick read M/M second chance at love romance.
Very enjoyable read. The story was full of betrayal, forgiveness, jealousy and steam. Romeo and Juliet gives for sure.
Felix Northwood borrowed a quarter million dollars from a loan shark. His father cancelled his credit cards, disowned and disinherited him so he has no way to pay back the loan since he does not get his trust fund until next year. He decides to auction off his virginity plus two weeks of sexual servitude to get the money.
Tomas Malone owns the loan and intends to put in the winning bid.
When they were youngsters they were friends, but had falling out. There father's are also sworn enemies. Grady, Tomas' right hand man is jealous of Felix and tried to make trouble for him at any opportunity.
At the auction Tomas bids an outrageous amount to win Felix. Before he can take possession of him, Felix is kidnapped and injured in the apprehension. Tomas brings him to his home to recuperate before their agreement goes into effect. They end up falling in love and eventually getting their HEA.

I loved High Bid by Avery Adams. I loved Tomas and Felix and the chemistry they shared. I loved that they had past history, and I wholeheartedly agreed with the book's last line. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Good romance, less aggressive than what the first chapters announce. It's a story that at first seemed strange to me because of the characters of Felix, a son of wealthy people but who has been let down by his family (his father is hounding him), when he's threattened to be kill and that he makes an even more surprising decision until he can have access to his trust fund. When he decides this, he knows what he will give up but he does not know at what cost (it must be said that at the beginning, Felix does not shine by his reflection) However, the narrative is ultimately rather tender between Felix and Tomas once they find out what took place in their past. It's hot but less scary or violent than what could have been. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Nothing is what it seemed Felix knew he had been stupid. Grady had always made trouble for him when he was growing up so now to fall for the fact that he had a twin and borrow money off him was just inexcusable. He had never heard of Grady having a twin so why would he trust him now? And now he wanted his money back and Felix had no way of getting it for him. So he decided that he was going to auction off his virginity and two weeks of his life. Which was also stupid because he wouldn’t know who was bidding on him till the night. But he had no other choice but to go through with it! Tomas was one step closer to making his enemy pay. When he was 14 he had feelings for Felix and he believed that Felix had feelings for Tomas but everything changed one night and they soon become enemies just like their fathers. Now he was going to make him pay 10 years of hatred was coming to ahead. The night of the auction he made sure he won $5 million for him and he didn’t care he had his man. But something happened that left Felix injured and they had to put off what he had planned for a week while he recovered. Tomas told Felix ge would be staying with him while he recovered And it was the best week of his life because him and Felix got to know one another again and it became apparent that somebody had been telling lies to both of them which had cause this rift. But could they have a future together?? I thoroughly enjoyed this read I found it really addictive and I just couldn’t put it down. I kept seeing these two men back has young boys in school and how they struggle with their feelings. But now those feelings were still there and they had grown. Knowing that they have been lied to changed everything and when they finally got together their feelings just went crazy. But were they safe? Could there be a future? Just a brilliant read! And I’m really hoping that we get a story for Jay Because he is such a nice lad.

Once upon time two boys were friends but miscommunications, interruptions from others who didn’t want them to be friends and so they were torn apart the friendship fell to the wayside. Felix’s life hasn’t always been sunshine or rainbows especially living with a father who cancelled his credit cards, disowned him and he can’t pay back the loan he took out leaving him with no other choice but auction. He has decided to auction himself plus two weeks of sexual pleasure to pay the loan back. Tomas grew up with a friend that he never forgot so when he borrowed money knowing he wouldn’t be able to repay it decided to go to the auction and paid an enormous amount of money for his old friend. There father’s are at odds neither father likes the other and sure they didn’t want their boys being friends however, once they grew up the father’s lost control so when Felix is being collected to go home with the auction winner he is kidnapped and hurt so his friend Thomas allows him to stay with him to get better while healing they get to know each other understanding why they were friends from the start, learning that the disruption in their friendship wasn’t anything they did but because of other’s actions and words. The attraction couldn’t be denied and the more time they spent together the stronger the magnetic pull between them so who destroy their friendship, will he get his inheritance or have to fight his father for it, and is a HEA written for these two who have been through enough?.

Felix has a trust fund that he will gain access to upon turning 25 but he wants money now and he foolishly borrows a lot of money from an old friend and someone he considered an enemy from high school, Tomas. When his father realizes he is playing fast and loose with finances he cancels all of Felix's credit cards and his loan comes due right away. So he auctions himself off in an attempt to get the money he needs to pay his debt. Tomas is the high bidder. The outcome of the auction sets off a series of events that winds up with them coming to realize that they are not enemies really but victims of misunderstanding. And then they realize that they are attracted to one another and former friends that turned to enemies become lovers and then more. I did not see what happens at the end coming but I won't spoil it. Just say that was quite a twist!.

Friends with a growing attraction for each other become enemies over the years. One is in dire financial straits and auctions himself to the highest bidder who just happens to be his former friend and enemy, As Tomas and Felix actually communicate, they discover that they have been deceived for all these years and discover what is possible. The novella is well plotted with good character development. Very enjoyable and easy to read, with a few LOL moments thrown in. I am not particularly fond of novella's feeling they typically rush through parts of the story or leave questions/issues unresolved. Not the issue with High Bid. Well done!

I thought that this was a great book. I really enjoyed Tomas and Felix together. These two have been in love with each since they were kids but one jealous person, feuding fathers, and puberty caused these two to lose 10 years togethers. Now, what was supposed to another act of hurtful revenge, turns into the truth being revealed and love perfailing. I really enjoyed this book and I hope that we get Jay's book! I would recommend this book and I would recommend it and Avery Adams as a must read author.

Felix finds himself in quite a pickle when he owes a debt and is cut off. What’s an enterprising and desperate young man of means without said means supposed to do except auction off his very own self. This story is right up my alley and I did find it entertaining. I love a good enemies to lovers and these former friends did not disappoint because they do manage to work out what turned their friendship into enemies. Finally being together and some steamy times helps them work through the truth.

A well written second chance at love for old friends who drifted apart to a person who kept meddling in their lives. Felix has money problems and yo solve them he participate at an auction where Tomas 'bought' him for enough so that Felix can solve them. Things don't start as expected. However that gives them time to talk and figure the past out and discover they have been crushibg on eaxcother since thier teens. They find their hea. Avery has an engaging writing style which kept me reading page after page, the dynamics between the mc's and their close persons are well set out.

OMG...this was fun and an interesting read. Friends to enemies to lovers...so many misunderstandings until we get to the truth. Hate that ONE person put a damper on the guys happiness for so many years. But that ending was the truth(LOL)...loved it!.

Nice story about young love, betrayal, jealousy, and forgiveness! I really enjoyed this book and the characters. This was straight to the point and easy to read!
There's some jealousy, misunderstanding, and love. It's a great storyline and wonderful characters. In the end they work through everything and get their HEA, but it's a hard road they travel.
Felix's father cancels credit cards just before Felix needs to pay off a half million dollar loan to Tomas. So he puts his virginity and two weeks with himself up for auction. Tomas is the winning bid. When Felix is kidnapped and injured, Tomas takes him in and takes care of him but they end up falling in love. I loved the premise of this story, unique and sooo good! Overall loved it!! The story was well written and the pacing flowed just right. Highly recommend!
From the blurb I went into this book thinking it was going to be a hard, dark, mafia, bdsm book. And at first it implies that is the road it is going to take, but after a few chapters the tone takes a totally different vibe and surprise... it is actually a fluffy, boyhood friends turned enemies turned lovers! I wasn't prepared to like Tomas at all but he won me over. And at first Felix comes off as irresponsible and he is.. but situations happen and he is a good guy. Jay, Felix's friend, is a side character that I look for in future books by Avery Adams.

Felix and Tomas had quite a road ahead of them. When you auction yourself off and end up being bought by a person that hurt you in the past, what could possibly go wrong? But what choice does Felix have? He has to uphold his end of the bargain. Miscommunications, jealousy, moments of betrayal, personal growth, and forgiveness.
Nicely done. Good story line, relatable main characters and lots of steamy scenes to keep you enticed.

I loved this book! It was such an amazing story! I've read friends to lovers, and enemies to lovers, but this was my first friends to enemies to lovers. And it completely worked. Great world building. I loved both these characters. You really get a sense of who Felix and Tomas are. There's a lot of miscommunication and family drama that caused the rift between them, but a certain event gives them the opportunity to talk and clear the air. I just loved this book and couldn't put it down. 5 stars.
Felix needs a half a million dollars to pay back his loan. The only way he can get the money is to auction himself to the highest bidder. The highest bidder is Tomas, his enemy but once his best friend. Once they're together, they find out things in their past aren't what they think. I really enjoyed this book.
So much sweeter than I expected. The characters were charming and the plot was entertaining. I wasn't 100% sold on the last chapter, since it felt a bit "too much", but nothing major.
