History portrays Lilith as a demon, sometimes a protector. To Lilith, she is only human. A very old human who simply craves surcease from bone deep loneliness. In this modern day Indiana Jones style epic, love and compassion compete with adventure and peril. From the dawn of modern humans, Lilith has witnessed it all. First hand encounters with depravity and cruelty have left her soul weary. She desires nothing more than for her immortal existence to end. Rumors of an artifact that will grant her fondest wish send her across the globe in hot pursuit. Along the way, she meets a woman that can help her achieve that goal. Through untold dangers, action, adventure and romance, Lilith and Diana Reed eventually discover the item they seek. However, things are not always what they appear to be. The story concludes back where it all began, in the Garden. Lilith is forced to choose, but will it be Diana or her own selfish desires that win out?
Born in California but raised in Texas, Susan joined the United States Marine Corps straight out of High School. After ten years and a lot of travel, she left the military and became a San Diego Deputy Sheriff. Retired from an on the job injury, Susan returned to Texas and began writing Star Trek Voyager fan fiction in 2002, but her imagination insisted on creating scenarios outside that genre. Today she still resides in North Texas with her two dogs and the five stray cats that adopted her. Her previous works, all seventy-two stories, can be found on her website. Lilith, cursed with immortality, now uses her knowledge and powers to try to raise up women in modern times.
Contacted by a angel, Lilith is offered a quest that might end her life, which she devoutly wishes....
Saved by Lilith from robbers, Diana Reed never expects to see her again. So when Lilith contacts her needing a diver, she agrees to come no questions asked.
Good read, basically a lesbian Indiana Jones with more overt magic and supernatural bits.
Two things I had issues with: I felt tossing aliens in was a bit much, especially as it contributes very little to the story. And the ending doesn't completely fit with the set up, and possibly needs to be edited for clarity.
Loved this book! I loved the concept for this story. Never thought of Lilith as a main character. Lil's journey is both heartbreaking and hopeful. Really enjoyed her character arc. This tale has adventure/survival/world traveler, mythology, a romance, a quest, peril/in danger, against the odds, and more, all rolled into one outstanding story. It's the kind of story that you want to tear through as fast as you can, yet you cannot bear to go too fast because it must be savored. This is a beautiful story. Thank you SY Thompson for sharing it with us!
I have never felt such a pull toward Lilith's journey as I have today. I just finished this and then all your other bodies of work. Every story has taken me away from my complex life. You are now ranked with author Radclyffe. She is my #1 author. You are #2. Please give me more. I own all you have written. Sometimes I don't buy previous works but you were the exception. I treasure these books.
My first taste of Thompsons work. Had my eye on this for such a long time. It didnt let me down. I love supernatural/celestial trope. Both mc's where so full of depth and the story progressed at a good pace (so disappointed when i realised it was ending lol) so relationship felt honest and believable. U found the authors take on the 'traditions' really compelling in a in story telling sense. Will definately be checking out other works by Thompson!
I’m not sure what I think of this book. It’s well written, interesting, engrossing, entertaining, and a good adventure story and romance, with some twists along the way. I enjoyed the book and how it unfolded. I’m just not sure if I like the way it ended. You’ll have to read it to understand my ambivalence about that. It’s well worth the read.
