It’s snowing like crazy in Chicago on a bad day for mob brothers Mallory and Kelly. They’re the kind of guys people move aside for, if they know what’s what. Makes no difference to the brothers what the weather does, though. It’s just another day, just one more body on the floor. At least it was, ’til everyone started gunning for them.Who’d want to kill them? They’re nice guys. That ain’t the worst of it, either. It’s not just the mob out for their blood. A giant Viking is trying to take their heads off, which is odd. Throw in a bag full of glowing wood, an Irish sword-wielding hitman, and a junkie femme fatale, and it’s not just a bad day, it’s the worst. When night falls, though, it’s not only blood staining the snowy city streets. The ice itself is turning red and whatever comes after worst…?This is definitely that.
I am the author of the novels The Summer I Died, Ratings Game, Born to Bleed, Salticidae, Undead World of Oz, Hissers and more. I hope to learn a lot from the readers on this site, and get some good book recs in the process. Thanks!
Excellent book. It could have been a 100 pages or so longer with more explanation of the wood and the lady in the wood. I really enjoyed this horror story and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys myths coming to life.
Red Ice Run is an excellent suspense/crime/horror novel co-authored by two master storytellers. Brothers Mallory and Kelly find themselves in over their heads when crime boss Walters puts Mallory in the center of a double cross after he picks up a leather bag containing 13 runic wood blocks. Throw in a 7 foot ax wielding Norse warrior and an ancient demoness and it makes for an edge of your seat thriller. Very highly recommended.
The story of two brothers with girls names who are mixed up in the criminal underworld in Chicago, and the ancient Viking spirit's relentless pursuit of the runes that control him.
It's utterly mad and chaotic. The writing is sharp, with an excellent eye for an image. I enjoyed it immensely.
This book was a interesting mix of the gritty criminal story and a historic fantasy, the action is good, and the story has a 'Reservoir Dogs' feel to it, with the banter between the characters.
