END OF TOUR: In this sobering and emotional autobiography, Thron details his real-life experiences as an officer of law enforcement wrongly condemned by the NYS Justice system.
Pete Thron eagerly dedicated himself to service. A member of the NYPD Housing department, the decorated cop recorded over 700 arrests and 1000 assists and worked with the ATF HIDTA Task Force to keep the streets clean working deep undercover cases. When a drug bust went wrong, he found himself scapegoated by his department and sent to prison by an immoral justice system. In this sobering and emotional autobiography, the author details his real-life experiences as an officer of law enforcement wrongly condemned by the very people he protected. Detailing how he forged his mind and body into weapons, his harrowing account shows how unexpected battles force decent individuals to dig deep into their souls in order to survive. He offers a disquieting tale of corruption and cover-ups.
Police do not have an easy job at all. They have to make snap decisions in seconds, have to deal with domestic violence, the mental health patients, robberies, murders, accidents, and so, so much more. It is something we do not understand unless we have worked the job. Working in different cities and eras is another thing to think about as well. New York City is one of the most dangerous places for a policeman to work in any era! This is a book of a man who became a policeman, a dream job, was exceptional at the job, but in the end for not turning against his own he was rewarded by deep betrayal! It is his story! Or partial…for there is more yet to come! When reading this book please remember the incidents notated are just a drop in a lake or ocean to everything else he experienced and had to deal with on a daily basis. I commend him for telling his story, even when it may not look good on him. It truly takes a badge of courage to be a policeman, not become corrupted, and live to talk about it! I truly wanted to rage for him at the injustices, cry in other parts, but I chose instead to cheer him on for his bravery and service. I cannot fathom the depths of despair he felt when he existed in a world of drugs and warfare on the streets. The steadfast devotion to get back out there day to day and continue to do what he did! I hope, in the end, justice will be served upon a silver platter to those who tore apart many lives in different ways! My heart truly goes out to the author and his family for what they were put through…AWESOME BOOK!
One Under is another very well written story of all Pete Thron went through being in the prison system. What he went through and how he survived being a cop serving time with some people he had helped put in the system being an officer of the law. He shares his feelings, fears and thoughts. So well written I could feel and actually see what he was describing. He also talks about how much society had changed from the time he was sentenced to the time of his release. How life and society has treated him.
I would love to see this and his first book in the series as a movie.
I highly recommend this book, its a big eye opener to what goes on being incarcerated in a ex-cops words. I cannot wait for this Author's next book.
This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read! A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for an enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. The unjust that he endured towards the end of his career, wow, ¡Great book!
This book had me up most of the night. I couldn’t stop reading it it is written so well that you actually feel as if you are rite beside Pete on his tours. The unjust that he endured towards the end of his career as an officer was difficult to read about. We all know that their is always a few bad apples in every bunch but Pete unfortunately bit into the one with the worm. God is good always, Pete is a free man now...
End of Tour isn't my normal type of read. When my friend recommended it I knew I had to get it. Pete Thron did a fantastic job with keeping me glued to this read. I found this book to be a reality check. I felt like I was walking beside Pete Thron the whole time. You never know what a cop really do day by day and this opened my eyes to what is done on a daily basis. This was a well written book and I highly recommend it.
I’m not sure where to begin with this. This book was so well written and detailed it felt like I was there with him. It was emotional and upsetting at times because it’s hard to comprehend everything officers endure daily. I had to take a break to calm down a few times, if I’m honest. The injustice he experienced by the system he protected was upsetting and added to the emotions of the book. It’s a phenomenal read and I HIGHLY recommend it.
