Stuck on either side of the shifter and witch divide is only the first problem Sophie and Fenrir have when it comes to sealing their fated mate bond.

Sophie Hayden is a witch and a small town store owner, specializing in all things occult. With the supernatural recently open to the public, you would think that Occult Books would be a popular place. Sadly, in rural Maine opinions are slightly less than favorable and Sophie becomes desperate for any form of income to save the shop her mother left to her. Her rental advertisement is answered by rough and ready Fenrir, looking for a place to lay low.

Fenrir Dryden is a dragon shifter and has spent his long life just on the wrong side of the law. His motorcycle club--Hell’s Fire MC--deals in illegal magical goods. But rival MC the Devil Demons catch wind of his latest run, catching up with him in New York, forcing him to go into hiding. Finding himself at Occult Books, he negotiates his way into renting Sophie’s spare apartment.

Can these two fated mates overcome their differences and find love, or are they destined to stand apart because of the laws keeping them apart?

K.O. Newman is a neurospicy author of steamy, panty-melting paranormal romance. A lifelong reader who overcame dyslexia to bring sass and sizzle to your shelves. Her queer-inclusive books include motorcycle clubs of monsters, aliens, and bearded bad-boys.

Outside her life as an author, Kat is a mom of two brilliant children, and wife to a supportive husband. She lives in the Midwestern U.S., but Kat's heart truly lies in a little town in Vermont, home of her Lords of Khaos series.

'Helmets on and get ready for the ride, the dragon biker is riding through the neighbourhood. His destination? Maine. Location: Occult Books. Target: Sophie, a shifter witch. The claws are out!

Thank you to K.O.Newman for sending me this ebook Advanced Readers Copy of this novella for me to read and review as a part of her ARC Team.

It may be spring, but there's an Autumn breeze in the air and with it comes Autumn Curses, a novella which previously featured in the Cavern of Love anthology (no longer available). K.O.Newman has braved the bookish waters and has decided to release her story from that anthology as a novella, and it's time to reacquaint ourselves with Fenrir, a dragon biker shifter, and Sophie who is half witch, half cat shifter.

It's been a hot minute since I've read that anthology and subsequently, Autumn Curses, so it was a case of feeling like I was coming back to home while getting to know the place (i.e. the story) for the first time all over again. We all wish we could go back to some of our favourite reads for the first time again, and now was that chance here for me and this novella.

Get ready for a story that pulls, quite literally, two soulmates together. Or in this case since there's a touch of the paranormal involved, fated mates. Our two main characters were brought together by circumstances bigger than themselves, both equally going through something personally trying and fate being fate, it brings together two people who will help both themselves and each other out by the power of their bond. Among other things.

This is a story that will show everyone of how they think the impossible can't happen, can actually happen. This isn't simply a story about fated mates, it's also got a little mix of strangers-to-lovers and forbidden romance in there to spice things up, add a little heat, and that's exactly what you'll be reading. Forbidden, shifter heat.

And an amusing ghostly aspiration of a mother, she's a hoot.

K.O.Newman manages to pack so much into so few pages so much so, you'll consume this novella in a matter of hours. I stretched it out over a few days simply to make it last, but hand on heart honest you'll all devour this novella and Fenrir and Sophie both. There are a few little twists and turns here and there to keep things that little bit more interesting, gripping even, and the journey to happily ever after is just as eventful as the collision of worlds brought together by the pairing of these two fated mates. In short, good things come in small packages, and this novella is one hell of a package.

I can genuinely say that if this would ever be a full-length novel, or if there would be one with a continuation of their story someday, I wouldn't be complaining. I'd read it. In fact, K.O. if you read this, I'm making this my formal request to see more of these two in the future. Please? Pretty please?

Five stars for Fenrir, Sophie and K.O.Newman!

Forbidden love, forced proximity, and fated mates are all seamlessly woven into “Autumn Curses” by K.O. Newman. Sophie is the shop owner of a failing book store who has to rent out one of the rooms above her store in order to keep the doors open. Enter Fenrir, a dragon shifter from the Hell’s Fire MC looking for a place to hide out for a bit. In this world shifters and witches are forbidden from mating, but then why would Fenrir think Sophie is his fated mate? Maybe there’s more to Sophie the witch than meets the eye. K.O. Newman once again creates an MC romance that has a fierce female lead and a wonderfully growly shifter. My only complaint with this book is that it was too short! I wish there was a bit more at the end before wrapping up, but then again I am a bit greedy when it comes to Newman’s spicy MC books!

So. Freaking. Good! I did NOT want to put this one down. Kat is phenomenal at writing bad boy shifters with hearts of gold. This book has all the paranormal goodness - shifters, witches, fated mates, ghosts. Add in some MC’s a whole lotta steam and a touch of suspense and you have this masterpiece. Sophie is such a relatable character, she’s sassy and has no problem standing up to a big bad biker. Fenrir is OMG hot! Tough as nails but will do anything for his mate.. uh be still my heart! This book was just not long enough! This needs to be a full on novel so we can get into more of the scenes and see where these guys go. Great secondary characters, great plot… If MC’s and shifters are your jam you’re gonna love Autumn Curses!

A great, fast read. Shifter, witches, love and more. I adored this little story even if it was too short and written in dual, single POV.
