Rate this book
Mason lands in Palestine and is caught in an ever-tightening spiral of violence, where one false step could get him killed. Former U.S. Army detective Mason Collins accompanies a group of Jewish refugees on board an illegal ship bound for Palestine. It is April 1947, a little over a year before the formation of the State of Israel, and hostilities in the region are reaching a boiling point. The British, Jews, and Arabs are all fighting for dominance. Bombings, armed attacks, and assassinations are rife. Mason joins Laura, the love of his life, in Jerusalem. She’s pregnant with his child, and his priority is to get them out of the volatile region. But she has gone into hiding and in fear for her life because of evidence she possesses pointing to a terrifying conspiracy. Then a skilled assassin picks up their trail. To keep Laura safe, he decides the best option is to run, then tragedy strikes, putting Laura in the hospital with her life hanging by a thread. Enraged, Mason vows to hunt down those responsible. But how can he hunt for killers in a war zone? Who does he turn to when he can’t tell friend from foe? He’s ready to lay down his life to keep Laura safe and bring the killers to justice—his particular form of justice. The problem is, a host of bad actors are determined to see he pays that ultimate price.

April 1947 Mason Collins is travelling on a Jewish refugee ship to Mandatory Palestine, to find girlfriend Laura Talbot and their unborn child and get them to safety. But it is not that easy and before long he is embroiled in the local politics, desperate to stay alive and find a solution to all his problems with the British, Police, Jews and the Black Hand.
An interesting and enjoyable well-written post World War II thriller, with its likeable main character. Another good addition to this entertaining series.

Upon A Bloodstained Land - Mason Collins is called upon to do what he does best

Author John A. Connell transports the reader back to a post-WW2 Middle East where the strife between different factions are increasing. A follow-up to his prior novel, Where the Wicked Tread, this is a non-stop action thriller where the stakes are high for everyone involved. His main objective is to reunite with Laura, a women he loves who incidentally is carrying his child. If you've read other books in this series you know what to expect. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

The Last of Six Episodes Starring Mason Collins!

Hopefully not! Granted I didn’t write a review for all six of John Connell’s Mason Collins books, but that is because I was in such a hurry to read the next book. All good things must come to an end…but maybe I can persuade John to squeeze out one more. I loved the settings and learned a lot about post-WWII Germany and the transition into what became the country of Israel. Well done.

Mason Collins

A rapid paced novel that keeps the reader glued to the pages as Mason finds himself in a distant land where he can not tell friend from foe. A vicious adversary with plans to kill Mason and his love, Laura.

A tortured land

So many people touched by the birth of a nation that has endured countless tragedies, yet, their people persevere. Great lesson in faith and unrequited love of two people. Conrad Samayoa.
