The Magnolia Duet #2

Madam Temptress Lib/E

Rate this book
I didn't choose this path. No one would.

I played the cards I was dealt.

The life made me. The city made me.

I won't apologize for who I've become.

Moses wouldn't have me any other way.

He says he want forever, and I'm starting to believe him.

But I can't outrun my past, and my sins are catching up with me.

It it's time to atone, I'll gladly pay my penance.

We might be getting our second chance, but we have to make it out alive first.

Fantastic ending to Magnolia’s story!

This was a great second book for a Duet! It was as good as the first and there was as much or more action and romance as in book one. I sure enjoyed every minute of it. This book takes up where the first book left off after Mount dropped a bomb on Magnolia about the fact that Moses wasn’t in her house during hurricane Katrina by accident or didn’t just happen by while those two guys broke into her house and were assaulting her. In other words, he wasn’t there to protect her. Though he did still save her from being brutalized by those guys, I’m not going to tell you the actual reason he was there.

If you have read Creole Kingpin you already know that Magnolia has gone legit and is selling her old “house” to one of the girls that used to work for her named Desiree. It seems that a client recently ran away with one of the girls, and that guys wife got so angry she hired a hitman to kill her husband, the girl and Magnolia, because Magnolia was still technically on the deed to the house until Desiree finished paying it off.

In Creole Kingpin, Magnolia fought off the hitman and ended up killing him and now the guy’s brother is intent on killing her. Moses and his team have been protecting her, but the more they find out about this guy the more dangerous he sounds. Mount and Kiera play a large role in this book as well since they live in the most secure home in New Orleans and can better protect Mags. Their little toddler princess Aurora is also in the book and Mount is so awesome as an overprotective father.

If you have read the Mount trilogy you will appreciate this because Lachlan Mount is the King of the New Orleans Underworld and he has Mafia and Cartel bosses bowing to his orders when it comes to doing business in the city of New Orleans but this little toddler has got him wrapped around her tiny little fingers.

The romance between Moses and Magnolia is steamy and has been a long time coming. Magnolia has had a very hard life. She was raised by her aunt Bernie and was kicked out at sixteen and became a prostitute after being raped. Magnolia worked her way up to being Madam and then when she finally got the house, she nearly lost it to hurricane Katrina and looters nearly raped her again.

Magnolia met Moses who was the love of her life, but she thought he didn’t love her enough to stay or to come back for her until finally fifteen years later and now when he finally does, some maniac is out to kill her for defending herself. She really just never gets a break. She deserves her happily ever after. Do her and Moses get it? Or does the killer get her first? You have to read the book to find out...

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

The conclusion to Magnolia and Moses' story....Was it everything I thought it would be and more? Yes and no.

Book one left us with one heck of a cliffhanger and book two goes right into that scene answering the questions we were left wondering about and how that would affect Moses and Magnolia's relationship. This book definitely brought the drama and it did answer some questions that I had lingering from the first book.

In the first book I felt that there was a lot of mystery surrounding Moses and I felt that we were not given the true nature of his character, especially being classified as an anti-hero and kingpin. So, I was looking forward to book two answering those questions and shedding light on him. It did shed a lot of light but I have to admit that I was kind of disappointed at Moses and do not classify him as anti-hero. I will not go into the details so as to not give away spoilers but I think I am comparing him to Mount who is the ultimate anti-hero, crime boss, even in this book. Moses fell short for me. He was nice and caring but not the alpha I expected. And the steam level was very low which was surprising when compared to other books by Meghan March.

Overall though I thought it was a great story. It was a great plot and very action packed. I read it in one sitting because it was so fast paced. I still loved Magnolia who is the fiercest heroine I have ever read. Meghan March is a great writer and she tells an excellent tale. But Mount still shone brightly in this book to me (which was ok because I loved him anyway). I guess I just did not connect with Moses as I expected. But I look forward to Ms. March's next book eagerly.

Madam Temptress is the conclusion that we were waiting for after reading Creole KingPin. We were trying to figure out all of the connections and just how much the past really came back to haunt some our beloved characters. Questions were answered, secrets came to light, and we were thrown into a game of cat and mouse right up until the very end.

giphy-55.gif

This story picked up right where Creole Kingpin ended and we immediately felt the tension and anxiety of what was about to happen. Magnolia and Moses are faced with a secret from their past and in that moment, they have to do what is best for them and go forward because they have much bigger things to worry about. Things are about to get even more crazy when they realize that the level of danger that surrounds them, is about to be amplified even more.

This was a good follow up to this duet and I really liked that it had some surprises as well. These characters were fierce, they protected each other with everything that they had, and they loved wholeheartedly. If you’re a fan of Meghan March’s work, then this sexy duet is not to be missed.

I’ll always find my way back to you, mama. That’s one thing I can guarantee.”

An epic conclusion to an epic romance!

I fell hard and fast for Moses and Magnolia in book one. I'm a sucker for a good second chance romance. And when that second chance comes for a baddie that played the villain in a previous series? Bring. It. On. I'm also a sucker for imperfect heroines, and Magnolia is definitely that. The woman fought and clawed her way through survival. She was a madam. She was a survivor. And she's a woman that demands her man fights hard for her.

Admittedly, Moses and Magnolia took a little bit of a backseat for me in the first 70% of the book. I was so enraptured with all things Mount, that I lost a bit of focus with them. They were really settling into their love, and my angst craving heart was a bit disconnected from the romance bit. That's not to say I wasn't totally in love with them, because I couldn't get enough. It was just a lower sizzle than it was in book one, which was understandable because they were moving on. The angst of the relationship passed and now they were focusing on the external threats of the danger to Magnolia's life.

If there's one thing March can do epically, it's write one twisty and suspenseful tale. And the hunt for the mysterious man threatening Magnolia's life was one twist after another. There was one bomb after another, until finally all hell breaks lose in the last 20% and OH MY GOD. It was brilliant. I was completely riveted to the pages.

Talk about your epic conclusion, y'all. This one had everything. And I do mean everything. Including some more Mount POV. What? I'm a sucker for this man. And I was a sucker for the perfect ending.

Madam Temptress by Meghan March is the stunning conclusion to the Magnolia Duet. This series took me on a ride that left me in awe and had me wanting more. On the completion of Creole Kingpin, the first book in the series, I waited with bated breath to dive into book two. It was definitely worth the wait.

When book one ended, Magnolia and Moses were in a wonderful place after fifteen years of separation. However, a hitman seeking revenge was determined to destroy their newfound happiness. However, Moses determination to protect his woman with his last breath may prove to be a deterrent in this quest for vengeance.

This book delivered all I hoped for and more. Explosive, thrilling, suspenseful and downright sexy. It featured a swoon worthy alpha male and his strong, badass and beautiful female partner. The hero and heroine from another of the author’s well-loved series also made an appearance, providing fans the chance to catch up with beloved characters.

In my review of Creole Kingpin I mentioned that Moses had secrets, which made me wary, even though he had grown on me. Those secrets came to light in this installment, and I am happy to report that the revelation eased my wariness and I ended up liking him more than I did before.

Readers who enjoy a swoon worthy romance with lots of sizzling will be elated to know that this book delivered on all counts. Their love for each other resonated throughout the story and although they have may not have been the typical romantic hero and heroine, it was clear they were made for each other.

March did a splendid job with this series. She created a stunning love story that will resonate with her fans. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and one I would recommend without reservations. Happy reading.

The conclusion to Magnolia and Moses was nothing short of amazing. I was left utterly breathless by this masterpiece. It exceeds ALL expectations. A true King and Queen.

“Magnolia Marie Maison can have my fucking soul too” Let’s all bow down to Moses Buford Gaspard the real anti-hero.

Meghan delivered the perfect mix of mystery, suspense, romance, angst, and steaminess! You will be swooning the whole way through while also being so intrigued that you won’t be able to put the book down. We finally get more background on Moses and learn all his secrets, and guess what? You’ll love him even more than before, he is the ultimate book boyfriend.. HOT, masculine, dirty talker, badass, and yes sweet.. because we all love a big bad Wolf with a romantic heart. Magnolia is still the modern badass that will knock your socks off and have you girl crushing over her. Their love for each other proceeds all and I promise you’ll never want to leave their world.

This duet has stolen a place in my favorite series OF ALL TIME, and I don’t say that lightly. Meghan paints a true picture of a modern day badass romance that will captivate you and leave you with all the feels. It is her best work yet. An absolute must read of 2020. Magnolia and Moses are a force to be reckoned with #dreamteam

A TOMATO IS NOT A DIAMOND

[My usual quote to start the review is missing because there wasn’t one worth mentioning]

This duet gave me a headache. If Magnolia and Moses weren’t thinking about sex, they were talking about sex, and if they weren’t talking about sex, they were having sex.
Recognize a pattern here? And if that wasn’t enough of a time-waster in the phoned-in storyline about some half-baked murder mystery involving Magnolia in the midst of her long overdue love reunion with Moses, they were arguing over nothing. I get it Magnolia. You’re your own woman. Not owned or controlled by any man. You’ve spent enough time on your back, so to speak, and now it’s all about you and respect. What we have here is a couple of MCs without a lick of chemistry spouting off simple dialogue, and stuck in a loop of stale sex scenes with a flimsy story thrown in. I didn’t like the way they talked or even what they had to say. I didn’t even like either one of them. None of it was the least bit interesting. Throwing Mount a couple scenes doesn’t liven up the lifeless story either. And I’m not distracted by a sparkly book cover. Call me crazy, but I like some dinner with my show.

It took the first book and 12% of the second book to get that flimsy reason for Moses’ 15 year absence (without ANY kind of contact)
--- while he waltzes back to town and thinks that Thirtysomething Magnolia might just be sitting around ripe for the picking -- and then the duo ploughs onward into the murder mystery. I couldn’t read two sentences in a row without losing total interest.

Too harsh? Not harsh enough. Many otherwise good authors are sloughing off with ill-conceived duets and trilogies (we all know why) that waste our time and money. Meghan March can write a good book. I ought to know, because I own most of them. Only a couple of her duets/trilogies though have been worthy of her, and this isn’t one of them. I keep swearing off reading any more of these padded tomes, but always get suckered in thinking “this one” will restore her glory. This was just another letdown. At least I read both books as library loans.

Many undeserving books are out there right now, and I’m tired of writing thoughtfully written reviews of stories that don’t deserve my time or attention. I fear that authors have groomed us to embrace this sub-level of writing as acceptable. I don’t like to feel dumbed-down as a reader, and neither should you. So, let me throw in a cliché of my own. My time is too valuable to waste on drivel. From now on, I refuse to call a rotten tomato a glistening diamond. This duet went splat, instead of scratching glass.

Madam Temptress was an EPIC roller coaster and I couldn't get enough of it. Meghan March thrives when she writes stories in New Orleans, this duet is now officially tied in my top #1 with the Mount Trilogy. That's saying a lot because I'm obsessed with Mount and Keira since I read Ruthless King.

Moses and Magnolia's story was so amazing and so addictive! I couldn't put it down, there were so many mind blowing moments and I really needed to see what was going to happen next.  I loved how Moses and Magnolia evolved as a couple, more than their chemistry, which was absolutely explosive, their bond was what really made me fall in love with their relationship. Their chess games, their conversations, how they supported each other, they were so incredible and fierce together, I was swooning and emotional. The Mount and Keira moments were absolute perfection, I loved every single second! I'm hoping for a Rhodes duet or trilogy soon.

Madam Temptress was a steamy page turner, action packed, fast paced with amazing characters and a breathtaking soulmate relationship that will make you fall in love with this story. Highly recommended, a top favorite of 2020.

5, Epic Stars!!

“You decide what kind of life you want, and I’ll figure out how to give it to you.”

Madam Temptress picks up right where Creole Kingpin left off and answers all of your burning questions. Madam Temptress leaves no stone unturned and is going to take you on one thrilling ride. This story is epic and is going to sweep you off your feet. It is hands down some of Meghan March’s best writing and is going to leave you on your toes and have you gasping for more.

Madam Temptress is everything I wanted, needed and was looking for in the conclusion of the Magnolia Duet. I devoured this book and did not want to put it down. I got completely swept up in Magnolia and Moses story. Magnolia is just as tough as ever and will not stop until she finds out who is after her. And Moses…Moses is a force to be reckoned with. He’s made mistakes. He’s told lies. He will do anything to keep Magnolia safe and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

Madam Temptress the thrilling and epic conclusion to this duet. This story delivered and hit every single mark. I loved the romance and drama. I loved all of the unexpected twists and turns. I loved the moments that had me holding my breath and left me hanging on the edge of my seat. This heart-pounding story will leave you devouring each and every word..

Magnolia is one of my favorite characters Meghan March has written, she’s strong, independent and sassy as hell. She is who she is and will never apologize for it.

Yes, book one left us hanging, but as always, we are given what we needed and most of us wanted in Madam Temptress. As always, I won’t give anything away, but just know yes, its sexy, yes its sinful and yes it will leave you satisfied.

OMG, the ending to Magnolia and Moses’s story was everything that I wanted and more. Their story kept me on the edge of my seat. Watching them fight for what they wanted and for those who they love was so breathtaking. I loved all the twist and turns that Meghan is known for in all her books. She knows how to pull you into the story and make you feel like you are right beside the characters feeling every emotion that they are feeling. This is why I love her stories so much. She knows how to create a world that you want to escape to. Loved Magnolia and Moses. Highly recommend this and all her stories to everyone.

Meghan March, that dang witch, left me twisted in knots with this book!!! I’m traumatized and might never forgive her for what she did. BTW I also LOVED THIS! But seriously, I finished a few hours ago and I’m still crying.

Magnolia and Creole stud muffin Moses have rekindled their romance and it's a beautiful love. They’re such an awesome couple. I’m so in love with Moses. Just when I think MM can’t write another alpha male that I love, she goes and outdoes herself again.

So now, not only does Mags have a cop trying to pin crimes on her, but she’s got a nasty bad guy trying to kill her. Unfortunately for everyone, this brings trouble to Mount’s front door. We’ve already learned from Temperance’s story that Mount doesn’t tolerate anyone upsetting his wife and he’ll gladly take out anyone who tries. So this doesn’t bode well for Mags. Though I will say, he was at fault for that time Mags was kidnapped and nearly died. So personally I think he owes her one.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Every situation they were in I kept thinking “oh this is where the killer is going to sneak attack” or “oh this is the person who is going to betray them” and then I’d be wrong. I swear my heart jumped all the time. I was like DON’T GO IN THERE! DON’T TRUST THAT PERSON! It was seriously exhausting and stressful. I need a Xanax after that.

Happy times. We get to see Mount as a dad and it’s HILARIOUS and absolutely sweet as pie. I sooooooo loved this part. Mount is everything you think he would be as a dad and more. Then when Mags and Moses talk about having babies and what would happen if they have a girl is so cute:
Girl you better pray for us all because I’m going to have to stay jacked and ripped as hell so no boy ever looks at her twice. I’ll have to get t-shirts printed with my picture on them saying “that’s my daddy” so they know what they’re dealing with if they get within 20 feet of her.
Of course Moses and Mags get their HEA, but I wish it had lasted a little longer. I was very disappointed with that. I wanted more details on their happiness. And some more SEX. There's barely any in this, and the times they do start to have sex just fade into the next day. MM had me with blue balls (or whatever version girl balls are). Ultimately, I didn't harp too much on this because I was so busy being afraid of the bad guy.

Overall – this was an EXCELLENT book. One of the best, with the exception of the traumatic event I mentioned below. Kept me on my toes and hanging on every word. PS def listen to the audiobook because Joe Arden is a sexy voiced god. Not everyone will dig the Creole accent, but it definitely did it for me.

Issues and Spoilers

They act like it’s a shock and far fetched when they discover why the hitman is after Mags, but they had already discussed it as a possibility in Book 1. I didn’t understand their shock, or why it took so long to figure out.

Also, Moses’s hacker guy, Trey, is having a hard time identifying the bad guy. Mount knows Ariel from the Beneath Series, and knows she’s a hacker. Why doesn’t he get her involved? Two hackers are better than one, right? So I didn’t understand that part. Also, they know Hennessy and Rix are both on the police force, why aren’t they involved with this? Seems like there were missed opportunities there.

TRIGGERS: Magnolia was nearly raped at the beginning. It was detailed, but there was no penetration of anything, anywhere. Some people are super sensitive to that.

SPOILER: Someone dies and I’ll never recover from it. I’m so heartbroken. I can’t believe MM did this to us. Seriously, I cried and cried. After typing this sentence, I started crying again. It’s like when Hedwig died in Harry Potter. Freaking hurts.

Sadly 3.5 star. I'm saying sadly because it should have got 5 stars. 😔

I was looking forward to reading Magnolia's book because she was a pretty interesting character in the Mount Trilogy and I couldn't imagine how she would be when she found her "love". So, I had high expectations after reading two amazing series (Mount and Savage Trilogy) and seeing how amazingly Meghan develops her characters and storyline. I really liked the first book even though I don't get any pleasure from reading second-chance romances. I liked Moses, I liked Magnolia and the plot. The first book ends with a cliffhanger , a secret about Moses and how he actually met with Magnolia. When that secret is revealed in the second book, I was like " C'mon... really? Is this the big secret?" It was my first disappointment.
description
The second thing that put me off-this is the major reason why I gave 3.5 stars- was the whole unnecessary suspension about I felt like it was being dragged out page after page. To be honest, that is the only thing they deal with in the two books and no any other action leaving Okay, they have been through a lot together which help them as couple to grow but that's the only thing they deal with and then suddenly . Yeah, so mature...

As many reviewers wrote, Lachlan and Keira with their gorgeous baby girl appears quite often in this book which I don't complain. It was great to have them as they are closely connected to Magnolia. However, the amount of their appearance could have been much fewer and that way the focus would still be on Magnolia and Moses.

Overall, it was nice, steamy romance but didn't really live up to my expectations. I'm not sure if I'll read anything better than Lachlan&Keira's story from the author.

Five stars just isn't enough for this EPIC conclusion to the Magnolia Duet! When your hearts racing, your holding your breathe, on the edge of your seat and your only through chapter one.... it's going to be one helluva ride.

Magnolia and Moses were absolute PERFECTION, she's the badass heroine he's the past that wants to sweep her off her feet!

"You're never gonna be alone again, mama. Whatever comes, we handle it together. That's how it works from here on out. We're a team, and I'm not letting anything happen to you. I waited too damn long for my second chance to risk throwing it all away. "

Their story was addicting, suspenseful and so damn swoon-worthy that page after page invoked an onslaught of emotions that had me refusing to put this book down. I knew this conclusion would have me an emotional wreck because Meghan loves to give us twists, turns and jaw-dropping moments that leave us in book hangover hell which is exactly where I'm at! This is without a doubt one of the BEST duets I've read this year and a highly recommended 5-Star read from me! If you read anything from Meghan March this year.....READ THIS DUET, let it take you on a heart-stopping, riveting ride from an author who is a magician with words and a master at storytelling!!!

description

The second part of this duet picks up where Creole Kingpin left off.
Where Mount decided to push Moses into telling Magnolia why he really was there all those years ago.
He is very relieved when all she wants to know,is......if he has someone else???
After that,he does his best to show her he will never leave her again.
And he can be very persuasive....

In the meantime, danger is still lurking.
The man that attacked Magnolia may be dead, but it seems he had a brother.
One that’s determined to make her pay for his death.
And their search reveals he is a “ghost”,a man with no name and no history.
Finding him is proving to be very difficult.....

I loved seeing Mount and Keira again.
They are a part of this story, and while Mount is still as powerful as ever,we see a different side of him.
Because they have a baby girl,Aurora, and she has her father wrapped around her little finger!
Protecting her,and Keira, makes him even more ruthless than he already was....

This second part was fast paced, with enough room for bedroom shenanigans.
A lot happens, and there are twists that keep you on your toes.
The only regret i have is how, after all he’s done, the baddie is caught....

4.5 EDGE OF YOUR SEAT CROWNS

This. This is why I love a Meghan March book. This duet has been a return to everything I love about her characters and story telling.

Magnolia is still such a fantastic heroine. I loved her emotional growth, the empathy and compassion she shows for the people in her life.

Although Moses pet names for Mags were a bit much at times, I loved how he loved her. He wanted to make her happy, give her that HEA, but not in a way that changes the heroine. What her heroes do support and help the heroine be who she wants, and I love that.

This plot is filled with all the March suspense I’ve come to expect and love in her books. There is a secondary character from a previous duet that took center stage for me. Maybe because I loved him so much, but when he came on the scene, I was like Moses who? Is this really bad? No, I don’t think so, but it did take away from the H/h of this book.

This is one of my favorite duets from Megan March. It felt very much like her old books, the storytelling that made her a oneclick author for me.

5 stars for my Creole Kingpin, Moses Gaspard and this powerful and amazing woman, Magnolia Mason.

I just loved how Meghan March developed this story and this characters. Everything is amazing. To the way Moses calls his woman “mama”, till the way the author describes so damm well his feelings from rage to love. I could feel how much Moses longed for them to share a life together, I was cheering so hard for them to be happy after all the bad things that happened to them.

And GOD!!! How I LOVE independent, powerful, confident woman!!! Those are my favourite types of heroines. Magnolia Maison is a hurricane and she got Moses wrapped around her little finger. He’s crazy about her and she loves him so much, it left me breathless. I’m in love! ❤️

Madam Temptress is the conclusion to The Magnolia Duet and is just as magnificent as the first book. I devoured this book and never wanted it to end.

Magnolia and Moses hold a very special place in my heart. I have a complete girl crush on Magnolia. She is fierce and a kickass woman in every way. And Moses, well the fact that I went from hating this man to truly finding him to be on the best men, that really says something. These two are the King and Queen of New Orleans.

This duet is probably my favorite out of every series or duets she has written and that is saying ALOT. I can honestly say I was not really all that gun-ho in the beginning because of my hatred for Moses, but Meghan does what she does best and delivers a story line that will have you completely going 180 on a character. I am so unbelievably happy that I still read this duet (and it was because of Magnolia that I did) but these two won me over so much.

Meghan truly knows how to weave a very suspenseful story with the perfect mix of romance and steam. I loved every single aspect of this book (and duet). The entire story flowed beautifully and there was never a slow down or confusing parts that took away from what was going on.

I am going to say it - Meghan may have written her best work to date with this series. She only gets better and better with each one and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

"I was given this review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This does not affect the opinion of the audiobook or the content of the review.”

I couldn’t wait to dive into this audiobook after the way things ended in Creole Kingpin. I enjoyed the progress that Moses and Magnolia made but I felt their story was put to the back because of Mount and Keira. Make no mistakes I love that couple but I wanted more Moses and Magnolia in this concluding story. I felt their romance got pushed to the side and I wanted more since second chance romances are my favorite tropes. The last few chapters had me on edge as usual and I liked how everything was wrapped up.

As usual the narrators knocked it out of the park with their performance. The accents were authentic and they made me feel like I was in New Orleans the whole time I listened.

Performance 4 stars
Story 3 stars
Rating 3.5 stars

The adrenaline was pumping through this duet! Meghan March gave my heart a workout with Madam Temptress... I mean, how much shit can one person deal with before they throw up their hands and scream fuck it! The heart stopping anticipation nearly killed me!

About Madam temptress:

Madam Temptress is the second and final part of The Magnolia Duet by Meghan March. This novel is told from a dual point of view (Magnolia & Moses). If you haven't read the first book (Creole Kingpin), I highly suggest you read that book before diving into this one.

Magnolia is on the run from a faceless man who’s found it his mission to seek sweet revenge for his brother’s death. Even the most talented computer hackers are having a difficult time finding this faceless killer. When people close to Magnolia turn up dead, her only choice is to give the killer what he wants most of all. Herself.

My Thoughts:

Danger and Temptation are the main focuses surrounding this story. Magnolia’s conclusion is about to go down in the record books as being one of the most suspenseful tales of 2020. I can’t even begin to describe what I was feeling throughout Magnolia and Moses’ epic journey. I loved every damn thing about this novel!

Magnolia is a force to be reckoned with. For as much shit as this woman was put through, I could’ve seen her easily breaking down and crumbling under the pressure of the danger threatening her around every turn in her story. I could have seen her easily giving up and throwing in the towel. She had her breaking points, but she never quit fighting for her life and the life of her loved ones.

Moses was also a force to be reckoned with. I loved his alpha vibes when it came to protecting Magnolia, even if it meant throwing himself in the lion’s den. But there was so much to Moses than just an alpha persona, this man was as smooth as ice! His swoony vibes when it was just the two of them was sexy as sin! This man is as bad as he is good. I honestly couldn’t get enough of his one on one moments with Magnolia. The chemistry between these two was strong as hell!!

When I first started reading this duet, I can easily admit, I wasn’t expecting all the greatness that is packed in these two novels. I was expecting a seriously sexy hero with an alphamale persona and an epic romance is a given. But what I wasn’t expecting was all the action and the danger jam packed in these two books. This duet was an emotional roller coaster full of incredible highs and indescribable lows. My heart hurt for Magnolia just as much as it swooned for Moses. In saying all this, I have to admit, The Magnolia Duet may just be my favorite duet ...so far… from Meghan March. It’s definitely a top ten favorite on my 2020 favorites list!

It’s going to be hard to top this duet. I’m looking forward to seeing what Meghan March has up her sleeve next!!! I need more Alpha love in my life!

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕄𝕒𝕘𝕟𝕠𝕝𝕚𝕒 𝔻𝕦𝕖𝕥: ᴄʀᴇᴏʟᴇ ᴋɪɴɢᴘɪɴ & ᴍᴀᴅᴀᴍ ᴛᴇᴍᴘᴛʀᴇꜱꜱ
- Second Chance, Mafia Duet

Magnolia, from The Mount Trilogy, is Keira’s best friend. I highly recommend reading 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕄𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕥 𝕋𝕣𝕚𝕝𝕠𝕘𝕪 𝕊𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 from Meghan March prior to reading The Magnolia Duet as Magnolia is a huge part of that trilogy.

Magnolia’s scenes in The Mount Trilogy, including what she has been through with Mount, Keira and what happened to her physically at the end of Sinful Empire have a great impact on Magnolia’s character in this book Without reading about Keira and Mount, I feel that the reader won’t have the big picture as far as Magnolia’s personality and her story in The Magnolia Duet.

In the beginning of this book, we follow Magnolia as things have settled down after all of the drama after Sinful Empire. Magnolia is an ex-Madam now as she sold her company. A portion of the book focuses on the sale. The hero, the mysterious man from Magnolia’s past, does not make an appearance until a few chapters in. Once he does, he is a presence.

Fifteen years after they parted, Moses Gaspard re-enters Magnolia’s life out of nowhere. She has no idea what he's doing here or why he’s back, but he does happen to come in at a good time. Magnolia is upset that Moses waited so long to return to New Orleans. She isn’t just going to let him walk back into her life after abandoning her.

Magnolia is tough. She has had an extremely difficult childhood. She hasn’t ever had anyone to count on. Moses is determined to show Magnolia that he is there for her. He left because he felt he had to at the time. Fifteen years ago, Moses had dreams of becoming a gangster. Now, he and his two associates are back, and Moses is ready to fight for Magnolia.

Mount and Keira also make appearances in this book. Mount and Moses together are just steam coming off the page. These two alpha males in the same room was too much to handle.
Magnolia eventually finds her HEA, but it is a long journey full of twists and turns. 4 ⭐️

***4.5 ‘Ultimate Checkmate’ Stars***

I’m a little all over the place with this one, not in a bad way at all, in fact the wonky is more about what I can put in this review vs. what I want to put in it but can’t because the whole non-spoilery thing is in full effect for various reasons.

So first Magnolia and Moses

I freakin’ ADORED these two. It’s really that simple. I loved that they were both “seasoned” by life and were totally living their truths. They gave each other 100% of who they were ~ the good, the bad and the ugly ~ no holds barred and not only respected each other for it, but ended up becoming even stronger for it as individuals and as a couple and the love was real.

If you’ve read Creole Kingpin, you know the bomb that was dropped at the end ~ if you haven’t, you’re in for a treat ~ and I had my guesses at what would go down and though I was wrong, I cannot deny that I thoroughly enjoyed how it all played out because it was exactly how Mags and Moses would react to it in my mind.

As for the other crazy that was going on around them. The twists and turns were done well. There were a few WTF moments, a few moments of me grinning like a fool (especially when it came to a certain cameo by a fav charrie and mention of another fav) and a few “Oh no she didn’t” ones that garnered an evil eye or two ~ not gonna lie. But in the end, I cannot deny that I was good with how everything turned out.

This duet is a great read. The balance of drama, humor, smexy and angst was done well. The suspense aspect kept me on my toes and instead of overshadowing the romance, it ended up making it feel more real and intense. And then there are the characters that populate this world. I always end up either falling into fascination with them, or deeper in love with them if I’ve already met them and that’s what I did here. There are actually a good handful of secondary characters I am crossing my toes will get their own HEA’s at some point ~ one wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, the other would most definitely be ~ but I loved getting to know them all and cannot wait to see if they pop up in the future in one way or another.

Note: You can read this duet without reading any of the others that have come before it, and I know that there are a lot of them, BUT I truly believe that reading the Mount, Savage and Legend trilogies will take your experience of the Magnolia Duet so much more fun. But that’s just my opinion.

„Whatever comes, we handle it together.”

The conclusion to Moses and Magnolia’s story is totally jaw-dropping! Madam Temptress is Meghan March at her best- the tension, heat and the thrill are pouring out of the pages of this book. I was in awe while reading Creole Kingpin, but this continuation straight up blew my mind. It was such a ride that my head is spinning, but it’s the best type of bewilderment!

Magnolia is a kick-ass heroine and I love her to pieces. She’s tough, brave and courageous but at the same time she has a softer, caring side that makes her instantly likeable. I needed her own books to get to know this other side of her and to understand her more. This woman has my admiration because neither her background nor the obstacles thrown on her path have ever stopped her and she stubbornly achieved the goals she set for herself. Her love is fierce and there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for the people who managed to get through her walls.

Moses made swoon so hard in this part of his and Magnolia’s story. He’s so protective and attentive, doing all he can to keep his woman out of harm's way. He’s also keen on proving that he wants forever and nothing will stop him from reaching his goal.

From a moral point of view they’re not good people. They both made mistakes and they’re flawed, but the way they feel about each other makes them suitable and perfect for one another. Neither time nor enemies are able to stand on their way to their own happily ever after. And the complications they encountered make their love even more epic.

Madam Temptress is a rollercoaster of emotions, thrill and sexiness. My eyes were glued to the pages of this story and I couldn’t stop devouring every word. The plot-twist Meghan served knocked me out and the shock mixed with excitement kept me at the edge of the seat. This book was everything I could dream of and so much more. Captivating, addicting and unputdownable!

Madam Temptress is the second book in The Magnolia Duet by Meghan March and it concludes Moses and Magnolia's story. It's not a stand-alone and the books have to be read in order.

Over the last few days, I have been contemplating my feelings for this book and I realized that I found this book underwhelming. This is Moses and Magnolia's story and yet the best parts of the book for me were the ones featuring Mount, Keira and their daughter. It was like the main characters took a step-up and let M&K in the spotlight. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing old characters back, but this time we should have seen them less. Usually, the final part of the story has the most impact and that was not the case with this book. It felt weaker than I was expecting. The suspense was great though and it was the second-best thing about the book. The department with the worst performance was the romance. What I truly loved was the epilogue though. It's the kind of epilogue I want to read in a story and it ended the book in a good note.

Overall, I would recommend the duet, but if you ask me with which MM series you should begin, this one would be very low on the list and not only because it's connected to the Mount trilogy.

This was a great conclusion to this duet, though I felt like this could be one book. Most of the action took place at the very end, and as much as I liked to see a domesticated Magnolia and Moses, a lot of it was a fluffy filler to the story. Overall another great read from Meghan March - superb audio content. Joe Arden and Erin Mallon are one magic duo!
