Decades of groundwork. Countless civilians abducted, experimented on, and killed. The perfect plan has taken shape, and soon, the entire sector will be under the control of the shadowy Committee.

That was the plan, anyway. But some human has decided to blow the whole thing up. What do you do when one of those pathetic little newcomers tries to ruin your plans?

Make him pay.

On the other hand, maybe you should have found out more about this “Barnabas” guy before trying that.

But it can’t possibly go too far wrong, can it? Soon you’ll have an entire fleet under your control. He couldn’t weasel of out _that_, right?

…Right?

Wrong.

NOTE: This book contains cursing. Perhaps humorous cursing, but cursing nevertheless. If this offends you, I don't suggest reading this book.

Natalie Grey

Natalie Grey grew up in rural New England, surrounded by a lot of vegetables and relatively little excitement. Therefore, she was obliged to make up excitement by pretending to be a knight, mage, jet-setting international assassin, jedi, or (occasionally) a shape-shifting dragon. She read everything she could get her hands on, from Lord of the Rings to Modesty Blaise, and eventually started writing her own stories full of what-ifs and snarky put-downs. Now she lives with her two German Shepherd mixes in the frozen wilds of Minnesota, and does a lot of inventive swearing while she shovels.

Another entertaining book! These are fairly short, action-packed with good characters. The character development is fun to follow of the main ones. Especially the interaction between Barnabas and the AI.

Action that is unbelievably enhanced by the unexpected!

Best part of this book was the direction Natalie Grey took in developing the characters in ways I never expected. Since he was first introduced in the Kurtherian Gambit Series, Barnabas has always seemed a little above everyone else who had gone through the earlier"vampire" identity. Not that he thought he was superior to everyone else or put on her was airs, just that his calm beliefs in Justice and how it is practiced it always x seemed like there was no doubt in his demeanor, that he felt firm in his knowledge that there was a right way of doing things. Barnabas was always the rock others could count on no matter what happened. But the kidnapping of his friend Jeltor by a Senate committee, focused on taking over the entire sector by using brain washing and mind control , seems to have exposed a crack in Barnabas's core. Shinigami has also developed into a more responsible adult, no longer thinking flame throwers are the answer to everything. Their friendship has become deeper and closer that either expected.
I highly recommend this book, loved the was it was developed with the action and suspense enhanced by how all the characters revealed new and enlightening aspects of a deeper, often more mature and knowledgeable personality. And still there humor is there, seeming to pull everything together. Really looking forward to the next book! Not a coat hanger but still many questions and problems that haven't been dealt with yet. And as always the author's notes are the icing on the cake! The authors always show appreciation for us, the readers, and brings us a little into their world as a friend. This isn't something I've seen much, and I've been a bookaholic for years. And while I don't know how others feel but it gives me a good feeling and makes my appreciation for their sharing their talent with me. So until the next book . . . 🤓📖

As usual, Natalie Grey, and Michael Anderle have surpassed themselves with this book.

I love the fact that the story surrounding Barnabas is continuing along the series, as it's bringing so many nuances to the plot line.

The whole team are now running so smoothly, that Barnabas is starting to trust that each member can bring something unique to any situation they find themselves in, and it really surprised me when Barnabas listened to Shinigami, and retreated from Jeltor when he did.

It seems that even a Vigilante Vampire can learn to change!

This was a super story, and it was really hard to reach the end, and not rush on to the next book in the series but, alas, I'm reading all of these books chronologically, so am following a list that some kind, and extremely patient, soul drew up, which means that I'm now hopping back over to the Bad Company series, to read book three: Price of Freedom!

This isn't a chore for me, of course, as I've yet to find a book in any of the series I'm reading, that I don't enjoy, so I hop from one series to another, taking delight in every single one of them - life is soooo good!

Barnabas friend Jeltor was kidnapped by the Infrastructure Revitalization Committee using mind control and brainwashing to find a way into Barnabas’s core. Shinigami and Barnabas’s friendship have grown and the rest of the gang are struggling to protect their friends and correct the experimentation and mind control. There is some strong language in this book. I had the pleasure of meeting the authors at a book signing event and I really enjoyed this amazing sixth novel of the Vigilante Chronicles by Natalie Grey and Michael Anderle. I received a free audiobook version and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

New allies and a surprise visit

We are thrown headfirst back into the action, with surprises, intrigue, surprises on top of the surprises, self-development, and espionage. There are new and old characters, hilarious conversations where the participant doesn’t realise s/he is being hilarious, and some Earth lore thrown in for good measure.

One thread that runs throughout all of the books is that of family and friends giving each other support and help. How lovely would it be if more people supported their family and friends in such a way?

Barnabas continues to amaze me

Solid 5 star rating!
Where do I start? There were a few plots to this storyline and it was all good. Barnabas and the crew are always a joy to read about. Without ruining the story to all I can say you'll enjoy it, laugh some, feel for some characters during other times and contingencies how the crew are still growing and learning during their time together.
If you haven't tried this series yet, what are you waiting for?

I read a lot

I read alot and sometimes I just want to press on to the next book and just give stars but because the author has asked us readers to give a review. I will start doing a better job at writing them. First I will say great job to the authors, for all of the great stories indie they maybe but they have a entire universe of books to read I suggest you give this series a try.

Another awesome book in this series. This was about Barnabas's good friend Jeltor being taken by the Infrastructure Revitalization Committee to be brainwashed, along with a lot of other members of different species'. Grisor is definitely cray-cray. BUT I'm sure Barnabas and Shinigami will take good care if that fool.

No romance and the F-bomb was used 7 times.

As for the narration: Chris Andrew Ciulla = Phenomenal.

When is the next installment due???

Great continuation of Barnabas' story. He is really developing in this series along with Shinigami. I get the distinct impression that not all of the character growth was planned. Well written and it connects nicely back to the beginning of the series.

Unfinished

I have been following Barnabas in this series and have enjoyed most of his adventures. But this book is completely unfinished. If you chose to wait to read this book till the next one comes out then it wouldn’t be so bad. But I just spent about two hours or so reading this book and find myself upset that nothing was resolved.

Great stuff

Some heart touching stuff inside and i think the series is better for it including some good background characters that help gel things together. I also feel a lot of the development of Shin and Barnabas each in their own way even as they prepeare themselves for another major battlem

Good Read

Barnabas and crew are struggling to right wrongs and protect friends. Experimentation and mind control on and of sentient beings will not stand. I like the action and humor. Characters are strong. I look forward to the next book.

Loved this story

Bananas is getting closer to his crew including Shinigama. Shinigama is learning to be more human and emphatic. Love that the guy is still trying to get the ship, what will the future hold?

There is allways someone willing to be the one in control.

Loved this new barnabus book. After the corporation you can rely on corrupt politicians to frack up the universe.
I look forward to more from this series.

Barnabas friend Jeltor has been kidnapped. You have secret facilities where mind control and torture is been practiced on many alien races. This is only the start of control over the Jotun navy and from there whole worlds.

Good book, really good series

I am really enjoying this series. It is adding a lot of detail into the universe and fleshing out the backstory really well for Barnabas. I think the next one is either the last or, the last one out so far, but I look forward to it in any case.

More Barnabus, more shenanigans, but also sadness and threats

Second pass 2022:
The team has really become quite cohesive, so of course they attack a core adjacent member.

This entry is more cliffhangary then the others, but properly in which the open thread is more of a major over arching plot than an important specific thread for the book. Better than how some books end in the middle of a plotline. Makes sense since The corporation was mostly settled.

AND one of my favorite chars is hurt and I'm upset about it.
