Confi-Dance: Memoirs of an Asian Businesswoman's Journey from a Traditional Upbringing into Unconditional Love

Rate this book
"As an Asian woman, I can particularly relate well to May's growing path from a traditional Chinese family and its expectation of a girl. People of similar backgrounds will discover the power of learning to love oneself unconditionally and the strength of it. Even if you are not Asian, you will discover the value of looking back on the journey you have taken and will find energy for the chapter next." Carol Shen, former president of Gucci China

Have you ever gone through a crisis of confidence that tore at the core of who you are? This was a question May Lam Rocco never thought she would have to answer.

May Lam Rocco had the golden touch. Despite growing up in a traditional Asian family, she would go on to become one of the most prominent businesswomen in Taiwan and Hong Kong in the 1980s. Her entrepreneurial journey was one few women in Asia traveled at the time. She had many successes in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, but when male-dominated Asian society caught up with her, she walked away and lost everything, except her son.

With her confidence shattered, May had to rebuild her life. The journey began with unconditional love, which healed her relationship with herself and, most importantly, with her son. Over time, this journey would also lead her to heal her relationship with her traditional family.

This powerful memoir will speak to businesswomen around the world, those seeking to repair relationships with their parents or children, and those confined by a traditional upbringing.

CONFI-DANCE is a page-turner that will take you around the world and give you a window into a very unique life's journey.

Great story about life

May explores her upbringing and how it influenced her, especially as a young woman. Her life story is important for any woman hi has grown up in a traditional family where the parents hold the power and use it. Thanks, May, for giving me insight into your life.

I received an advanced copy of this book and read it all in one sitting. I don't usually read memoirs, but I'm really glad I read this one. As a woman making their way in the world, I was incredibly inspired by May's journey to self-confidence and love. I learned so much from May's story and I will be using the lessons I learned from this book in my own life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with their own confidence and place in this world. Even if memoirs aren't your thing, this book is worth reading.

I read this book very quickly during an afternoon. It shows us how May hit rock bottom but was able to claw her way back and become a success in her own terms. It is also a frank account of her troubled relationship with her son Albert, how she confronted this and was able to mend the damage done. It contains lessons for all those going through hard times and gives guidance to parents in how to mend relationships with their children. A brave and honest testimony!
