Mike Whicker is a Colorado native. He now resides in the Midwest. Whicker is the author of the Erika Lehmann WW II spy trilogy, Invitation to Valhalla, Blood of the Reich, and Return to Valhalla. Whicker also authored the novel Proper Suda.
Don't start this book unless you are ready to abandon all other duties. It will definitely keep you up at night. The entire trilogy (Invitation to Valhalla, Blood of the Reich, and Return to Valhalla) was excellent. I can hardly wait for someone to make a movie. Mike Whicker has been able to breathe life into historical events. He has an incredible imagination as far as figuring out how espionage and counterespionage must work. His characters are so memorable. I feel like I know them. I already miss them, but this is the end of the trilogy. GREAT READ!
This book was a little harder to get in to because there are a lot of flashbacks and a lot of names that are hard to keep track of. The story is excellent and I love the addition of Tars and Maeve. Very strong female characters.
This is the last book in the trilogy that follows our German spy Erika. It might be better than the first book. Great story with suspense throughout.
A couple of reviews were upset with the fact that the author tried to make the nazi spy a sympathetic character. She killed people for her job and her government. When she found out what was really going on, she had a decision to make which I found totally believable.
A good finale to the saga of Erika Lehmann, the German spy code-named Lorelei. She's going back to Germany in the final days of the Reich. She's bringing some new friends. The men who murdered her father should be afraid.
Really good ending to this trilogy. Historical, action, human interactions. . . what more could you want. While a book whose main character is a Nazi spy, this really shows that "good" and "bad" isn't necessarily black and white.
Still good, but not up to snuff with he first two books. Having said that, this is a trilogy worth your time. I would recommend these to anyone. Hard to believe this didn't get more attention.
Love Mike Whicker books especially being an Indiana author (sort of) and learning how an inland town like Evansville,Indiana played a role during the war.
