I Want It All With You

Rate this book
It’s been one bad relationship after the other for Josslyn Tait. She can’t seem to find one person that wants to be in a committed relationship with her. After finding her ex in bed with another woman, she’s just about ready to give up on finding love altogether.
Enter Kate.
Kate Parker. The sister of her best friend and roommate. Also the biggest player in Riverside, and Josslyn’s least favorite person. Okay, that position was already filled by the guy who just cheated on her, but she was still pretty low on the list. When Kate offers to be her wing woman and help her out in the dating department, Josslyn is hesitant to agree. But Kate has a good track record of getting people to fall for her. If anyone can help Josslyn find that special someone, it has to be Kate. Only Josslyn gets a crazy idea. Maybe she needed a break from trying to find that special someone. Maybe she needed to be more like Kate. And who better to learn from than Kate herself. The two women take their relationship to the next level and everything goes downhill from there. Kate warned her not to fall in love with her. Josslyn never thought she’d fall for someone like Kate. But the heart is a confusing organ, and Josslyn’s heart is growing fonder and fonder of the woman every second she spends with her. Josslyn’s dealt with a broken heart before. She could get over her feelings for Kate. There’s only one problem. Josslyn’s not the only one catching feelings.

The best friend's sister.

This was a surprise find on KU. Aleks Mitchell is a completely unknown author to me so I wasn't expecting much, but I enjoyed it. This story is about two women who have known each other for ages. They have never gotten along mostly due to differences in their take on life and monogamous relationships but they finally find common ground and discover the other person isn't too bad after all.

There is some simplicity in the way it's written, with Mitchell creating a little drama without letting it go too far and it's precisely this that I like it very much. And even without much complication, I could still feel the passion and chemistry between Josslyn and Kate. I really liked both characters, particularly Kate whom everyone including herself, expected to be a heartbreaker, but she turned out to be the sweetest.

There are some bumps here and there but it was still a fairly good read.

This was such a great book to read so get on it, folks!

I loved that the major drama in the story wasn't between our two mains. The small miscommunication between them was their main issue and the drama that happened around them was what brings them closer together. I totally loved both Josslyn and Kate as separate individuals but they're so great as a couple. Their chemistry, their banter and just the two of them together just made me smile.

2.5 ⭐️ rounded up

The fact that it is an enemies to lovers and best friends sister romance is the reason I decided to read it.

It’s definitely a quick read and on KU.

I just don’t know how to feel about this because there were some parts I genuinely liked but then some i didn’t enjoy… I’ll see how I feel later

3 ★ | Blonde on the cover is literally my sleep paralysis demon. WHY is she smiling like that. I just??? It haunts me. That smile LMAO. Look. This one was nothing deep. But it was enjoyable. Hardly any angst. BUT. Can we just stick to one name please? Katherine, Katie, Kat, K, Just pick ONE please. Thank you. Also less with the S*** slur and no it’s not “empowering”. If anyone dare call me that as an endearment they’d be introduced to my swift backhand very quickly indeed. Easy formatted read. Needs editing in places.

If you want a book that make you cringe from start to finish you should read this one
And the writing is so ICKY, i have nothing else to say.

Wait i have one more thing to say

“I know.  I’m a slut.”
Josslyn sighed and looked at her softly.  “You’re not a slut.”
Kate smirked.  “Josslyn, I don’t have a problem with that.  I don’t see slut as a bad word.  It’s empowering.”

I couldn’t tell you what I liked about this book, neither can I tell you what I disliked. It’s just what it is and it’s fine, nothing more, nothing less.

I honestly don’t have any other words for this book.

I'm not sure this would be considered a short story but at the same time it is not long enough (for me, I guess) to be a book, anyway..

So, this story follows: Josslyn Tait, a focused, goal-oriented, eagerly looking for love, doctor who has suffered many deceptions and is about to lose hope, Joss lives with her life-long bestie, Amy. Amy's twin sister Kate is the opposite of both Joss and Amy in regards to love, she just wants to live life and have fun, to settle down isn't in her near future.

From the outside you might think that this is a short, romantic story with minimal angst and yes, the premise is accurate but I consider that the response of childhood experience played a huge role in the personality development of one of the main characters which bring so many situations, responses, scenarios that make it way more than a fluffy read but not necessarily robustly good.

one of the worst fanfics, I’ve ever read + I don’t read fanfic

Aside from the spelling + grammatical errors which there were plenty of... I’m going to be either brutally honest or consider it constructive criticism

*spoilers*

“Daddy issues” were + are still borne out of misogyny

The “conflict” was a twin telling her other twin that she was in love w her BFF/roommate....which I personally found dull

3 women in their late 20’s all fulfilling their dreams + working in high powered jobs is nonexistent

Blonde + brunette was beyond annoying as nicknames/pet names

Every other page was about Kate sleeping around + not committing bc of her “daddy issues” when her *finance* [partner] + her twin should’ve been encouraging her to seek therapy. Love and/or uhauling will not fix her internal problems + neither will her job; let alone a baby

Ted was also nonexistent, there was absolutely nothing ab him mentioned, no backstory...just another boring white man in a high powered job

Yes I know it’s a wlw romance but a twin’s bf should have SOME backstory or literally anything except using him to add an additional character

From sleeping around to falling in love after having sex 4x or so then getting engaged and moving in and talking ab babies is just wildly unbelievable

Ok I’m done, I’m sure I could go on but I’m glad I read this for free bc it never got interesting; although I was hoping for it

I really don't enjoy talking a book down, but I can't in good conscience not say something here.

Please forgive me, Aleks, but it's giving 14yr-old-wants-to-be-a-writer-when-they-grow-up-vibes.
If you are 14, I'll change my review to 2 stars to be fair.

The book is in desperate need of an editor. The amount of spelling errors and grammar issues was staggering.

The writing style was stilted and extremely repetitive. The repetition may have worked in some places if used sparingly, but it was constant. At one point, it felt as though I was reading the same sentence again and again all the way down the page.

Another couple of things that annoyed me in general:
 1. The overuse of the word gross, as though it was every character's favourite term. It's probably just a word the author uses often themselves, but the fact that the same language was used no matter who was talking made the characters seem very 2D.

 2. Why does Josslyn refer to Kate as "the lawyer" so often? It seems weird to me that she'd think of her this way when they'd known one another since they were kids. Maybe it's a small thing, but to me it was bizarre.
3.Also "the woman", "the blonde woman", stop!

The story could have been a lot better if some proper editing had been done. It wasn't a terrible story, although I thought the ending was a bit lame.

Not bad at all. Enjoyable read.

Good plot and character development, but there was far too much telling and not much showing. This made it read a little like a police report at times. Kate's confession should have gotten shown (or even told!) as well instead of simply skipped, it was set up to basically be the climax and it just faded to black, then picked up afterwards. Kate had a good character arc and so did Joss, but I felt Joss just suddenly deciding to trust without going through much of a process to get there could have been done differently.
Also, why hint that Kate was into kink then have Joss shut it down instantly? Like, what was the point? Joss claims not to be vanilla, but showed no evidence of that in their interactions or sex scenes. Missed opportunity there.
Over all though, I enjoyed the story. It felt underdeveloped, but it was still good.

3 stars. These characters were way too immature to be such grown and established people. They acted like they were in high school and I honestly didn’t really like any of them. Josslyn and Kate weren’t completely unlikable but they both got on my nerves. I did like them together though they had really good chemistry and I liked their banter. They’ve disliked each other since they were children and Josslyn is also best friends with Kate’s sister so there was history there between them which I liked. I just wish they had been more developed as individuals and that I had liked them. Overall, this was fine. Nothing all that great but it was a quick read.

3.5 ⭐️ first book of the year complete! this was a quick, easy read. it was really entertaining! it was repetitive on a lot of topics like kate sleeping around and i didn’t like how they said “the blonde or the brunette” also it didn’t feel like they were in their late 20’s they felt like they were in their early 20’s or teenager! overall, it was super quick and short read

I don't want to be unfair to a pretty short book (~200 pages) but there's a LOT going on here and I'm not convinced justice is done to all the relationships and dynamics.

We have fraternal twins, one of whom has a best friend and roommate named Josslyn and the other hates Joss. Somehow, the gregarious and womanizing twin and Joss decide to have sex (this comes out of nowhere for two people who only ever communicate in frustrated sighs and condescension and hate being around each other). Predictably for the plot, things very quickly and nonsensically escalate to love, despite the twin in question never wanting a long term relationship before now and Joss getting out of a long term relationship almost immediately prior to this.

Add in some more drama, such as an absentee dad who has complicated relationships with his fraternal twin daughters and may have a new baby on the way, the gregarious twin having a moral crisis about her job as a lawyer, a traffic accident, and the quieter twin being kept completely in the dark for some reason and you have this book.

As I said, a lot going on in here and I'm not sure anything got its due, even the relationship at its core, which takes an absolute flying leap from "can't stand to be in the same room with each other" to love.

It was a heartwarming sweet story about a love alcoholic dr. And a relationship phobic lawyer. Josslyn is best friend with Kate's sister. They have always hated each other but something changes when they have sex and this is the story of that change.
The book was fluffy sweet puppy dog love. Nothing too serious or deep. The character were well rounded. I specifically likes the part where it doesn't end just after they admit to liking each other. It continues to show us the journey to their love declaration.

Enjoyable enemies-to-lovers!

Best friends since childhood, Amy and Joss are roommates who are looking for committed relationships while Kate is the freewheeling outsider looking for a no strings hookup in life. In this story, I feel like I could label the twins lawyer Kate "Naughty" and nurse Amy "Nice." They are so different until doctor Joss breaks through Kate's defenses. I don't want to give anymore away, but it was fun, funny and serious all rolled into a very interesting story!

Age disparity, forbidden love, scorching sex, angst—this book has it all! The narrative begins in the middle of the action and uses a few flashbacks to explain a few elements, but the most of the action occurs right now. I appreciated that the story's main conflict didn't include our two main characters. Their primary disagreement was a minor misunderstanding, and the drama that ensued around them was what brought them together. I adored Josslyn and Kate individually, and I think they make a wonderful couple. Their connection, humor, and their simple presence together made me grin.

The plot is actually very good. I would like to see something like that again. But I didn't enjoy the pace or the depth. I felt it was rushed. Maybe it was supposed to be 50 pages longer?
But it also is a bit superficial. Like, I get the Amy relationship with both of them, but the romance itself? Is so... "and they like each other". Is too much said, not shown.
I don't know if it makes sense. Hahaha I might be babbling and saying nonsense.

Great book!!!!

The only thing I hated about this book is it ended. I really enjoyed this book. I love Josslyn and Katie so much!! I love the trio, Amy, Josslyn, and Katie. I died laughing when Katie thought Amy didn't know about her and Josslyn. Reminds me of the quote sometimes what you need is right in front of you.

A well paced story

So this story was very well written. It's well paced. And it never felt like it dragged it rushed forwards or anything. If enemies to lovers is your thing you'll probably love Kate and Jocelyn's story

An easy read, good for the beach. However there are typos, slight grammatical errors, and maybe a few too many plot points for a 210 page book.
