About a remarkable rock climber, mountaineer, and physician who developed a revolutionary process of managing back pain that many claimed to be miraculous: exercise and flexibility! (His approach was what enabled John F. Kennedy to toss his crutches...for example...) Kraus’s work is carried on by the Norman Marcus Pain Institute in NYC (www.nmpi.com). He climbed the Grand Teton with Paul Petzoldt in the 1930s, as an aside (I’ve written about Petzoldt, so that was fun to see). I hope chronic pain sufferers can/will brush aside “mainstream” approaches to chronic pain and seek this kind of help. It. Works. (The writing itself was so-so, but the information is really good, and he was an amazing man...)
