From Now Until September

Rate this book
Three months together, three months apart. 90 days from now until September.

Koel Henshaw’s life changed when he fell unconscious to the floor of his high school calculus class.

A year later, Koel is trying to enjoy his last few months of freedom before his summer is ruined by a looming surgery for a surprise—and now chronic—health condition. Having to give up his college football career, Koel also gives up getting locked down in a relationship before his surgery, so he is able to focus on getting back to the person he was before his diagnosis.

One night, Koel meets Ryann Morrissey and finds himself unable to stick with his ‘no dating’ rule. Ryann is equally allured by Koel but doesn’t know anything about his dangerous health condition or upcoming summer plans in the hospital two states away. Their relationship is off to a whirlwind start, but so much more than just time and distance can change from now until September.

Sweet, coming-of-age, small town, second chance romance… it hits a lot of tropes, but manages to do so with a lot of heart! Ryann and Koel’s story is complicated by a medical condition (and some needed maturation), but there’s no third-act annoying fake breakups to fuel the story or interrupt their very charming relationship. Really loved seeing rural and campus life through the author’s eyes, and the switching narrators was super effective to keep the pace quick.

Amazing story! Definitely kept me on my toes! I loved the ending on how Ryann talked about the last 10 years with Koel and their life together. The birthday present that Ryann ended up giving Koel was amazing and was definitely a tear-jerker! Amazing Story, Ellison! 10/10
