As Daniel is drawn into this dark mystery, he discovers that time is running out to thwart their terrible plot.

Holy Crap!
What did I just read?
Karn has taken the medical world on a “VIRAL” journey through the greatest city on earth. (New York City)
Our story begins with:
Daniel-Financial journalist suffering from a loss that no one should ever have to endure. Meets wiseass, rude, pain in the behind Kim on the subway platform and saves her life. At first, she is grateful, then later treats him like crap, yet he still pines away for her.
Kim- Rude, Liar, No one really knows much about her, likes candles, works from home, throws up a lot.
Angela- Daniels best friend, artistic, good friends with his ex-wife also. Angela calls Daniel one day and tells him to meet her, that it is important, and it must be in person. Daniel meets with her, and she tells him that A. he needs to talk with his ex-wife Charlotte because Charlotte needs him, that she is in pain just like he is.
B. She tells him about the girl that she met with the incredibly intense eyes and the red hair. How the girl told her that her brother was missing and that the inhuman people took him. Daniel of course does not believe a word that Angela is telling him and thinks she should be checked out.
Angela convinces Daniel to meet Ella, who takes them to a place underground where her brother used to take pictures. Only for them to be scared half to death.
Meanwhile all sorts of people have gone missing, and no one has reported them missing.
Daniel ends up going out on a date with Kim because he found her bracelet, which she wanted back. After dinner she runs out and tells him to never look for her again, it is for his own good. He starts going to the gym, starts getting his self together, anything to forget her. In this period of time, he ends up seeing his ex-wife Charlotte, she tells him she is on drugs, she was raped, all the while Daniel is still thinking about Kim. He gives her the spare money he has in his gym bag and sends her on her way.
Couple of days later Daniel spots Kim and follows her home, so he knows where she lives. Prior to that though, he had seen on TV that a wealthy Korean family had put a hefty reward out for any information leading to their sons return. He had on an expensive bracelet when he went to NYC that said KIM on the Bar of the bracelet. Daniel being furious rushes over to Kim’s house, confronts her and demands to know who the hell she is and what is going on. That is when she breaks down the “WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON” (Sorry! That is where I end, you just have to read it to believe it)
Daniel is on a quest to save Sarina no matter the cost.
Karn has done such an amazing job on this story, this is the first time I am truly stumped on a review. His characters flow seamlessly together, you do not even notice when they switch. Daniel, you feel sorry for half the time, you cheer for him towards the end. Kim, you want to slap senseless. Ugh!!! Angela you actually want Daniel to be with her, she is so down to earth and genuinely cares for him.
Then his side Characters, you want them all to be ok also, Ella with her piercing eyes and what of her brother? Charlotte was another one who worked my nerves.
But what do they say when a character can evoke emotion? That the writer has done an excellent job. That he definitely has done.
The scientific aspect of this I cannot even get into because it would give the whole book away. (That is why I am stumped) But OMG!!!! OMG!!!!
This is some serious Robin Cook, Michael Palmer level writing. Just short of scaring the living daylights out of you.
Karn leaves you hanging on…… BUT WHAT IF?
Would we EVER KNOW?
Standing Ovation Karn
1. For leaving me at a loss for words
2. Wish my review were better, but you got me
3. ONE DARN AMAZING BOOK!!! OMG
THIS IS A MUST READ!!!
