Does Bigfoot really exist? Here is a collection of stories of sightings and even contact between human and creature, as well as some possible explanations and theories. The author once tried hunting Bigfoot himself!
This book isn't an in - depth cryptozoologist's guide to Sasquatch, but then it clearly is not meant to be. It is a short book that aims to give an introduction to and overview of the Bigfoot legend. That, I think, it does quite well. Readers get a history of Bigfoot sightings and a brief summary of the evidence and theories surrounding the legend. It was nothing earth-shattering, but I did enjoy this little Bigfoot book.
Interesting little book, most of these stories I have heard though a couple I had not. Also some tidbits about anthropology, and what Bigfoot could be if real (the author makes no claims either way & leaves room for the reader to decide what they think & if they believe Bigfoot exists or is just some fairytale passed down for generations).
Summary: This book discusses the possible existence, sightings, and captures of the creature known as Bigfoot. It begins by telling the reader who Bigfoot is and what he may look like. It also shows a map of where he may live. It also goes into evidence that has been gathered from people including footprints and sightings.
Review: I think this book does a great job of going into detail about who Bigfoot is, the evidence we have, or do not have, saying if he is real, and how Bigfoot would have come to be. This book gives the reader the facts that we do have about Bigfoot but does not try to convince the reader that he is real or fake. Instead, the author leaves it open to the reader to decide for themselves.
Teaching: I would use this book in the older grades, possibly as a read aloud, when discussing with students about legends and folktales. This could teach students that not all legends are found to be true, but there are also still some that we are not sure about to this day.
