Ghost Train of Treblinka

Rate this book
In the winter of 1943, a train from Warsaw bound for the Treblinka death camp went missing. Now, in modern day Poland, the train still haunts the countryside, luring people to leave their homes and step aboard. A group of American travelers with a penchant for ghost hunting decide to look into the disappearances, only to discover a plot that could change the world, and that the Ghost Train's origins reach much further back than the holocaust . . .

This novel combines two of my favorite things: history and ghost stories. I read Ghost Train of Treblinka practically all in one sitting. I was intrigued by the thought of a ghostly train winding it's way across Poland even before I was completely immersed in the story. I could almost see the light bulb form above my head when certain aspects started to come together, although there were a few things I didn't see coming. A very well told story by an author who never fails to capture my attention and who now has me interested in reading more about Treblinka as well. Highly recommend!

Excellent story

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The history mixed with the horror genre. I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend

I loved this one. Hubert Mullins is becoming one of my favourite authors. There was history and terrific characters and lots of creepy ghosty/ entity horror and atmosphere. Just sucked me in.

Nazis will never stop being great villains

From Captain America to Indiana Jones, fictional stories have often employed the real world horrors of the Nazi regime to immediately solidify the villains of the piece. The nature of the crimes committed by the Nazis lend directly into horror, so this book already had a lot going for it from jump.

Mr. Mullins fantastical additions to the story overall heighten and extend the possibilities of those atrocities. In the hours since finishing the book, I find myself still thinking about the implications of what happened off the page, what wasn't described, what fates weren't directly spelled out. A book that lives in your head like that is an accomplishment.

On a technical level, I do believe the book could have used another revision and layer of polish. A few minor typos certainly don't spoil the book, but the pacing issues nearly could have. There were sequences early on in the book that felt too long, while several of the weightier beats and revelations later on felt rushed or passed over.

That aside, I truly enjoy Mr. Mullins' imagination and storytelling (having now read two of his books after "Under Bethel"), and I look forward to reading more of his work!

Very interesting book. The entity was hard to understand, but then I did not want to understand such evil and what consumed people to commit the heinous acts they did to the Jewish people. To me, the entity was raw and the perfect depiction of the evil in the hearts of men who can cause the devastation that happened. I pray it doesn't ever happen again. The book was well written and kept me turning pages without losing interest, so overall, it's a good book.

Never Forget

I honestly don't know if I enjoyed this novel. I will say that it held me captive from the first paragraph. I had to finish reading it.
The writing ,in my opinion was excellent. The story was compelling.
The characters were real.
I pray that history does not repeat Treblinka or any of the deathcamps.
I hope and pray that there is no more death trains ,or ghost trains.

Good

Sort of hard to review. Good characters and well written but some of the plot I thought was a bit silly. It at least didnt entirely make sense like it was a kids movie plot. The entity? Meh. But I read it mostly straight through the guys got talent. I’m gonna check out his other stuff too. Sometimes I think good character writing is really the most important part of a story, you can read about them eating breakfast and enjoy it if you feel like they’re your friends.

Very interesting!!!!!

I’m not a history buff but this is a very enlightening book. It’s sad to know that such atrocities happened and most of the world just looked the other way.
Even though I know that some of the things that happened in this story happened in Mr. Mullins’ head, he did and awesome job of bringing the story to life!!!!
Job well done Mr. Mullins. Job well done!!!!!

Scary and Historic

I don’t think any fiction can do justice to the horrors of Nazi occupation of Poland, or anywhere else. But the story even though it’s a ghost story, gives us some insight. It’s a hell of a story. And I personally hope there are no further entities involved. Read this.

A perfect historical horror for spooky season. Mullins is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with his easy going style and brutal descriptions. His books really make you understand that horror is scary, but the history of humanity is always scarier. Mankind will always be more terrifying than ghosts.

Horror is not my preferred genre but since each new day now brings horrific headlines, I thought I might as well read something that is only a figment of an author's imagination. My heartfelt thanks to the author for distracting me for a few hours with this tale of ultimate evil vs an elderly Polish woman filled with pure goodness.

A well told ghost story, great characters and plenty of suspense and action.
A train to Treblinka disappears on the way to the concentration camp in 1943...and now the story is, they're back for more passengers. Can the living escape the call of the death train.

This book was okay, not stellar, but okay. I considered stopping several times, but then something would happen that kept me reading. I didn't like the parts that dealt with "the Entity." Just couldn't get into that for some reason.

Haunting

This one got me in the feels. Mullins continues to spin yarns that are in all ways poignant, horrific, and mesmerizing. His choice of subject for this novel touches the part of me that grieves for the past and fears for the future. Well done, and thoughtfully written.

Spellbinding!

This was a spine tingling read and reading about the death camps was heartbreaking. People are trying to change history, not just remember and honor. Our pasts can and should never be forgotten. Would make an excellent movie

Surprisingly excellent

I really enjoyed this book, much more than I thought I would. I highly recommend it! Fyi, it has its very gory moments, so just be aware of that. I like how thorough and tidy it was, character, and story wise.

Slow

The first half was dreadfully slow, character development was lackluster, and there were a lot of details that seemed relevant at first but went nowhere. Original concept, but mediocre writing

Book I cannot put down, and I just want to read more!

There is a good flow of the story. I can't seem to put the book down. Very exciting twist and turns of event. Great read! This is the second book I've read (Salt and Blood). It did not disappoint!

Excellent story line…

…from a very creative author. My only critique of the two novels of his that I’ve read, so far, is he needs a better editor. There are some errors that just should not exist in such quality writing.

A truly original ghost story.

Another great read from Hubert L Mullins. Thoroughly engrossing from start to finish. So much more than a traditional ghost story.

It is a different twist to combine what I consider unnatural sci-fi with historical fiction. Simply not my cup of tea.

The author is an amazing storyteller. This is the 2nd book I read from the author. I'm a spiritual person, and some of the events in the story (whispers of something evil or negative) I believe are real. It is important to discern what to accept and refuse when "suggestions" are being presented in our minds. I couldn't put the book down. Another amazing book!
