Lightwave: Command Decision

Rate this book
Hal's back--but can they trust him? Saree and Lightwave fly together, maintaining clocks and trying to avoid everyone hunting them. They've started to come together as a team, but Saree's no-longer secret identity is straining their bonds. No matter how many times they change their name or fold to a new constellation, Lightwave is under constant threat. Organized crime, greedy corporations, and political operatives all hunt Saree--the most wanted woman in the universe. Lightwave needs real protection, maybe a whole military fleet. When Hal shows up, apparently unharmed from his captivity, he has all the answers. But is his escape too good to be true? And will the pressure on the crew form diamonds or crush them into stardust? Find out in Command Decision , Folding Space Series 6.0!

There is an authenticity in the characters and situations AM brigs so well to the stories of the Time Master and Clock Maintainer and the crew she hired to take her someplace so she could tune clocks necessary for safe folding of timespace for instantaneous travel from one solar system to another

A cross between MacGyver and Dr Who with a TEAM like the Star Gate (Air Force) Team … Remarkable well trained and cross trained crew. Even the world class (Interstellar Class) Chef is also a qualified Combat Pilot (if it came to that though, they would be in a world of hurt) and Weapons Officer and "costume design" for uniforms as they might change their name just before fold and come out with a different name?
Scott’s Lightwave Clutch, their travels, and escapes from the MOB and OTHER Agents of Opportunity and now the AI's are entering the picture and who knows what the next fold will produce.

I am nearly caught up on this series and I only found it when the Pandemic hit.

My first review of the Lightwave Series included things like "What a delightful surprise!"
I admire that Captain is so self controlled... I doubt I wold be as well controlled...
But I might surprise myself.

Still Hanging but Convuluted

I keep wondering why still reading ...books one thru three were fantastic. After that the plots were convuluted, the author uses time jumps to fill or leave gaps in storyline etc...that deserve more words for the reader. It is as if boredom set in so a story line to end the series established. The author seems to assume we know the full bio of each character still imbedded in his or her brain.

The stories have become clugie and erratic and come to fast conclusions hanging on bones with no meat. This book covered a lot of ground without sensical resolutions. The last book is supposedly out I am going to read like scientific curiousity....will the author take time to put the meat back on bones or just jumble lots of short storylines as a conclusion. I really think the author grew bored but had publishing commitment...the love of author with their creations feels lost. This series had so much potential for a longer life...that is why feel author bored and out of love. I dont know who so called group the author thanks...but it makes me wonder if real or they just tell author what they think they want to be heard.

This is a must read series because of its unique story line. Space travel is only possible in any solar system where the Sa’sa (an alien race) have a clock like device that assists ships in the folding of space. The characters in the series are not the typical science fiction people you would imagine, which makes the story so interesting. Each book expands the depth of the characters and fills in background details that helps you understand each character. Which is why I recommend that you start with the first book in the series and continue consecutively to the latest book, number 6. Sure, each book can stand alone, but you would really miss out on a lot of the story if you skipped around.

Take my word for it, this series is a winner.

Another book full of action and brilliant escapes from bad guys. Super sci-fi! The characters are realistically imperfect and draw you in. I was, however, disappointed in the ending. There are still many unresolved issues, and the interaction between characters has become almost nonexistent. The relationship between Ruhger and Saree is no longer believable. The author bypasses almost every opportunity for them to show affection and deepen their love for one another. Action is great but for me characters make the book.

Various individuals and relationships develop towards expected conclusions - romance and hive minds in particular. Rapid transition from one conflict to another keep the story moving. A little disappointed when large sections seem at first to be an episode duplicating a different episode, but I suppose the prequel only tells the same story from a different perspective. I recommend reading the prequel after the novel, but the sequence numbers indicate otherwise.

This is the sixth book in the Lightwave series. As with the previous five books (all of which I’ve enjoyed), the author continues to develop the characters and the main story line. For that reason I don’t feel the series is feeling ‘flat’, it continues to evolve focusing on the characters. I gave it 5 stars.

If you made it through book 3 of the Folding Space series, you MUST read this one! There are some big reveals here about the nature of ^timespace^ that you will not want to miss.
