Until the moment I met him, I’d never done anything wrong. Like, seriously, nothing . Until that summery afternoon when an exceptionally cute boy with unnatural green eyes—like emerald flames—stepped out in front of my car. And I hit him.
Only the boy didn’t die. There isn’t a mark on him. And now Aiden is begging me to drive him somewhere, anywhere . Because he’s being hunted, and the people chasing him will only stop when he’s dead. I know I should just keep driving, but there’s something vulnerable in his voice, in his crooked smile, that makes me want to help him…even if it means leaving “good” behind.
And “leaving good” feels a whole lot like being alive. More alive than I’ve ever felt.
Now I’m risking everything—my safety, my relationship with my dad, even my freedom —for a guy I just met. It’s not Stockholm Syndrome or even Hot Hijacker Syndrome. Something tells me Aiden’s different, really different, and it’s not just his eyes, his strength, or his preternatural smarts. Or that when he kisses me, everything else just disappears.
Lindsey writes about heart-stopping romance, rule-breaking heroes, and everyday magic. She lives in Ohio (where the weather is never quite right). Her BFA in Photography and Graphic Design has granted her a wide assortment of creative knowledge that serves mostly as inspiration. When she’s not crafting stories, you'll likely find her spending waaay too much time on Pinterest, gaming, or performing in a burlesque show—because she enjoys giving her introversion a worthy adversary. (Plus, it's the closest to Broadway she’ll ever get.) Lindsey is represented by the amazing Naomi Davis. Her debut, THE HEARTBEAT HYPOTHESIS, released March 2017. Her forthcoming novels, TO WHATEVER END, and the first in the PROJECT A.I.D.E.N. series are set to release 10/1/18 and 1/8/19 with Entangled Teen.
If you ever watched The Terminator and said, "Hey, what if there was kissing in this?", you're in luck!

One look at this cover and one perusal of the synopsis and I was sold. I usually have this list each month of books I need to read for tours etc but it all went to hell when this book hit my inbox. I can say that it lived up to my expectations because my expectations were HIGH. I knew I'd love it from the first chapter.
Aiden is an A.I, about to be terminated for his lack of obedience; they want to scrap the project and start over. But Aiden has other plans. He breaks out of the facility and nearly gets hit by a car driven by our female protagonist, Elena.
Elena just graduated high school and wants to be a mechanic (against all her family's wishes) On her way to get her car fixed, she runs into Aiden. Literally. A strange hot boy then basically kidnaps her and tells her to drive as far as possible. But his demeanor isn't one you'd expect from a hijacker. He doesn't want to hurt her and she knows it. Soon, they're on a high-speed chase to find out more about Project A.I.D.E.N and Elana's father's involvement in the project.
I'm a sucker for a good run-from-authorities-plot-line. That and we seriously need more books about hot robot boys. I may have to write one because this book has inspired me. This is a quick read full of non-stop action and two protags you can root for.
This was the surprise of 2022 IMO. I hope there's a book two because I'd probably riot if there wasn't.
Thank you to Netgally and Entangled for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was definitely a page turner. I could not put it down. I loved the futuristic setting. Great character and world building.
The adventure Aidan and Elena go on definitely kept me on my toes. It kept me wanting more. I still want more. I liked how each chapter was a different POV, it helped me understand Aiden and Elena more.
Aiden is a boy just trying to LIVE. Elena wants nothing more then to be a mechanic and live the life SHE wants. When their two world collide neither of them will ever be the same...
This was a quick, easy and fun read. I'm definitely looking forward to more books from Lindsey Frydman.
With fast pacing, an engaging plot, and endearing characters this book makes a great addition to the sci-fi young adult genre.
I enjoyed so many aspects of this book. I loved its futuristic setting without it absorbing dystopian elements like so many sci-fi novels do. I loved its dual point-of-views and the insights they gave us into the MCs. I loved its quick pacing and how accessible the writing style was. And mostly, I LOVED Aiden, our rogue AI. He is written in such an endearing way that it really pulls so much empathy for him as a reader. And the way the overarching question of whether Artificial Intelligence has a right to life is woven into the romance makes for such a compelling theme.
Usually when finishing a book I often think that it could've benefited from being shorter but I feel the opposite about this one. I wish it had been longer. I would've loved to have gone on an even longer journey with our MCs. I would've loved to have seen more details about the lab and Project A.I.D.E.N. And while the plot became a bit predictable, especially toward the middle, I enjoyed seeing how the book came together in the end.
This would make a great pick for someone interested in getting into the sci-fi genre but hesitant to dip their toes in. Its sci-fi elements aren't too extensive and are well explained while the romance adds a sweet touch to its storyline. Overall, this is a book that I feel will hit a sweet spot for many readers in the future.
I loved the character Aiden. He was a character that was full of hopes and dreams. The chapters were from different characters POV which made it very interesting and you could feel and learn what the other characters were feeling and thinking. It was a very fast and easy read and made you feel all kinds of emotions.
At 1st when I started reading it I felt like it was kinda a retelling of the movie Bourne Identity. That quickly changed and the story took a whole different direction.
The character, Elena, I loved as she would never give up hope and was the backbone to Aiden’s story. She fought to the very end even if it meant she was going to loose someone she loved.
There was a lot of pieces of the story that was quite predictable and then some that made you keep guessing.
Project A.I.D.E.N. was a really compelling read. It was an interesting take on the world of artificial intelligence, kind of The Terminator for the high school set. Aiden was such an endearing character, you couldn't help but get attached to him and want all good things to happen for him. I found myself completely engaged as he and Elana went on the run, hoping that everything would work out for the best! It was a little stressful waiting to see how things played out, but overall this was a pretty quick, easy read.
I was not prepared for how much I was going to love this book! I found myself rooting for Aiden and Elena straight away. Told from different POV’s it kept me on the edge of my seat from page 1. The adventure they went on together was absolutely incredible and show us how beautiful love can be despite the obstacles. Thank you so much Entangled Teen and NetGalley for this ARC. I can’t wait to read more from Lindsey.
I have absolutely no fault with this book. This was a very quick and enjoyable read. I don’t typically read just YA books but this sucked me in till the very end.
Project Aiden has: AI Romance Sci-fi Rebellious teenager Smidge of violence A small twist
This really was a great story, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
okay hold up ..this book did not just end did it ..ohh no am left hanging .To be honest am starting to feel like the author owes a nice bottle of wine but hey am just saying.loved the story ..much thanks to the author and her team...It ended too soon but i loved it
This was super fun. Take the million-dollar-man, make him a teenager and throw in a love interest that doesn't know he's a cyborg til it's too late. Dude. This was fun. I fully enjoyed it. Some parts were a tad predictable but not enough to lower the rating for me. 💋
I felt like I was listening to the song Getaway Car during most of this book. Fast-paced, government experiments, romance- a trifecta! Can’t wait to read more from this author ❤️
Thank you Netgalley and Entangled Publishing and Entangled Teen for allowing me to read and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Project A.I.D.E.N. is about an A.I. who has wondered about the outside world and has never been able to leave the AIR facility. When Aiden fails a test proving he is more human than robot, he learns he is going to be terminated for his failure and decides to make a break for it.
Elena is a high school graduate who dreams of being a mechanic and is having a hard time telling her father that she doesn't want to go to a high end college. When she leaves town to go visit her sister and fix her car, she hits Aiden as he tries to escape AIR and Elena's father (the person who decided to eliminate Aiden).
Aiden and Elena are now in a high speed chase to keep Aiden safe and to find out answers about Project A.I.D.E.N.
Lindsey Frydman has written a fast paced and entertaining ride of a story. I liked the adrenaline rush of Aiden and Elena trying to hide from the authorities and her father while also figuring out answers. The book is quick and to the point and makes you question what you would do if you were in Elena's shoes.
Of course there is a romance that builds between Elena and Aiden. It does have a slight Stockholm Syndrome in the beginning but as they both learn about each other it develops into something sweet.
It’s such a warm read for me after all the fantasy stories and spicy ones. I enjoyed the plot here and loved the way the story progressed, there was never a dull moment. Even in the sadness, a little excitement was there to know what will happen next and how the inevitable will be delayed. It’s a very well-written book and has a perfect pace for reading. Elena and Aiden are interesting characters with a heart of Gold. As the story gets finished, I kept thinking what will happen next?? There’s hope but still. Definitely a worthy read.
I loved this YA novel that perfectly blended science fiction with touching romance! Aiden is a compelling and insightful character that had me rooting for him from page one. There was a ton of action moving the story along and tension filled moments that had me on the edge of my seat. The story inspires you to think deeply on what it means to be human. This is the YA I want to read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for access to this arc.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Omg this book is such a page turner. I could not put it down, I finished it in 1 night. It’s a story I didn’t know I was missing. I have always loved characters like Data from Star Trek, who wanted to be more human and this has Aiden who seems more human than AI. This was the perfect blend of Sci and romance to me. I just love Aiden and Elena and my only complaint is I want more.
Adventure surrounding an A.I. gains a refreshing twist, while seeping in tension and a touch of romance.
Aiden would like nothing better than to have the chance to finally leave the room he's called home ever since a nearly deadly car accident several years before. The institute has done everything they could to save his life and more. He never forgets anything, is practically invincible, strong and fast. And he's a nice guy. Now, if only he could pass the last test, they'll finally let them go. Or will they?
This is an easy, quick read, which kept me in the pages until the very end. I read it in one sitting and didn't have even the slightest inkling of an urge to put it down. It was so quick and easy that I really was surprised, when I looked back and realized that it was over 200 pages and not much shorter. So, I'd have to say it was a good, entertaining read. But of course, I have to say more than that, don't I?
It's pretty clear from the title and cover that this one swirls around the theme of artificial intelligence, and it does so with a couple refreshing twists, which keep it from turning cliche. Aiden is a super, nice character with tons of simple charm and a very good heart. The heroine is just as kind and nice, and finds herself in over her head, trying to make the best decisions possible. Both are easy to root for the entire way through.
Something happens on every page, and while some twists are easy to see coming, others take by a bit of surprise. There were moments, where the actions of the main characters seemed a bit dumb, but all in all everything flowed well and was understandable. The story holds some depth but, at the same time, stays a bit light and a little too quick to the resolution. I did think it was a bit short for the subject matter and wanted to see a bit more chase and development, but, on the other hand, it was a lovely read to throw into a few hours. So, I can't really criticize it, either.
The romance is sweet, straight forward, and warms the heart. The ending does bring a bit of uncertainty and create just the right amount of tension to make sure it's not clear if things will work out or not...and I'm not going to say, which way it went because that'd ruin everything.
This is an enjoyable, quick read, which adds just the right amount of food for thought without going overly deep. I can recommend it to light science fiction fans, who enjoy a bit of tension, action, and tons of heart.

Review: This book was just as amazing as I thought it was going to be! I love how it shows perspective from both Aiden and Elena, which I was not expecting going into it. I love both of the main characters and the growth they experience throughout the book, and the futuristic aspect of this world. I appreciate when there are flashbacks, they are shown with italics. I really like how Elena wants to be a mechanic for her future career, which you don’t see too often in young adult books. There were also plenty of moments where there were plot twists that I did not expect or thought would happen. Overall, I definitely recommend picking up this book!

Project A.I.D.E.N. is a standalone Young Adult Sci-Fi and tells the story of Elena and Aiden.
When I saw the cover of Project A.I.D.E.N., I had to read the synopsis. The guy one the cover really caught my attention, and I was really interested in the story. After reading the synopsis, I knew that I was going to enjoy reading this YA book. I had some expectations of this book since I read one of Lindsey Frydman’s other books, To Whatever End, and I’m glad that I picked this book up.
Project A.I.D.E.N. is about Aiden and Elena. Aiden is an A.I. even though he doesn’t realise that’s he is one. Elena is a high school student who wants to be a mechanic. I really liked that Elena’s dream is to become a mechanic, because we don’t really see that that often in books. I liked seeing Aiden and Elena grow towards each other, and fall for each other. It’s like a typical YA story where the characters easily fall for each other and would do everything for each other. It was really cute!
I normally don’t read that many Sci-Fi books, and I really don’t know why. It’s an interesting and fun genre, and I enjoyed reading Project A.I.D.E.N.. The story was really interesting, the pacing was really nice and you can easily finish this book in a few days. It only took me two days because it’s a good and quick read. If you’re looking for a YA Sci-Fi, then I really recommend Project A.I.D.E.N.!
If Maximum Ride met the Terminator who also met a Sarah Dessen novel, this would be the outcome.
“If I destroy her life, too, the regret will swallow me whole.” ~Project A.I.D.E.N.
First things first, Project A.I.D.E.N. was very predictable, but it wasn't a bad predictable. For the most part, I think Frydman probably wanted you to be able to guess the plot. I mean the whole evil dad thing was pretty obvious from the get go.
This fast pacing confusing story alternates between the two main characters, Elena and Aiden, point of view and takes you on their journey. I don’t know exactly how I feel about either character. I neither loved or hated them and at times, I found them hilarious but then it would start describing how the other person looks so beautiful.
If you are an anti-insta love person, this is most definitely not for you. Elena and Aiden fall in love with each other pretty much instantly, like the trope. She hits him with her car and immediately finds him attractive and doesn’t freak out, which most people would find weird. There are plenty of paragraphs which are just them describing the other in each other’s POV.
Probably after reading all of that, you are wondering why I gave this four stars. Well despite what I might have said up there, I actually did enjoy this novel. I found the writing hilarious and the characters were fun. Elena was probably my favorite because she wasn’t the “I’m not like other girls” trope and she was able to stand up for herself. Plus there was one twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.
I would probably read Project A.I.D.E.N. again if I had the chance because it was a different book then what I have seen around and it was pretty interesting.
Thank you to Entangled Teen and Netgalley for giving me an advanced copy for review.
Project A.I.D.E.N. is a fast-paced, fully immersive experience that could easily be adapted to the screen. Set in the not-so-distant future, this book will give you a healthy dose of adrenaline, and the fluttery feeling of first love.
When Elena hits Aiden with her car, she doesn’t even have time to think about the reasons why he is miraculously uninjured. Because Aiden begs her to drive him away from the place he just escaped. Now on the run, Elena and Aiden become unlikely partners-in-crime, trying to figure out who wants Aiden gone, and why.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this story was its pace. Author Lindsey Frydman doesn’t waste an inordinate amount of time world building or doing anything else superfluous. Instead, Frydman drops readers right into this world and hits the ground running.
I also liked how the chemistry between Elena and Aiden develops slowly, yet surely, even as the events around them are moving at a fast clip. This is the kind of book you can sit down and just tear through, and it was something I could definitely see being made into a movie.
I really enjoyed this book, and think that it’s a great read for YA-aged readers and adults alike.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Project AIDEN is an intense mixture of YA Sci-Fi and Romance with a lot of action. The plot was incredibly fast-paced, maybe a bit too much at times, but there wasn't a lull in the story at all. If you're looking for something different to read that will keep you on your toes, definitely recommend this one!
The story opens with Aiden in AIR, the facility that created him, and jumps between his and Elena's points of view each chapter. Many secrets and twists are uncovered through the story and while completely unrealistic at times (I mean, Aiden is a hot robot...), Aiden and Elena both tugged at my heartstrings. They were well-written and well-rounded characters, though there wasn't a lot of depth to them, there was just enough to enjoy the adventure.
Thank you Entangled Teen for the e-ARC to read and honestly review!
First, thank you so much to Entangled Teen for the opportunity to read Project A.I.D.E.N early.
This was such a quick, fun, fast-paced SciFi read with a splash of romance that hit me right in the heart. From the moment Aiden appeared on the page, I could not help but love and want to protect him at all costs. Once I started, I did not want to put this book down. So I may or may not have read it in one sitting. Okay, I absolutely did. Adulting will suffer today but was totally worth it.
Project A.I.D.E.N was pure entertainment and joy. This was the exact book I needed at this exact moment. I wish there was an epilogue so we could have even MORE with these characters. I need my boy to be completely, blissfully free, and happy. Or maybe a movie....
If you are looking for a quick, fun, YA SciFi romance, check this one out.
Everyone that I'm hearing that's comparing this book to The Terminator--is absolutely spot-on. It just has the extra added bonus of romance. Which is a plus to me!
I was completely enthralled in this story. Aiden is a boy who lives in a facility where they now want to kill him. He finds out more about himself along the way--there are some surprises in store for this poor kid.
Elena, is involved in ways that she doesn't comprehend at first. But their first meeting involves her hitting Aiden with her car. From that point forward, she's invested in helping Aiden escape death at the hands of those who made him who he is.
This story was a quick, captivating read. It was full of twists, and I was rooting for these two from the absolute beginning!
This was very fun. It was both interesting and fun. I read someone describing this as terminator but with romance and it was but also wasn't. I love the sci-fi part of this and the scientific bits of it. I absolutely ADORED those bits. The romance was super sweet and I was surprised by how invested I got with Elena and Aiden's relationship. Overall this was a quick fun and fantastic read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
short and fast pace sci-fi book! An AI who doesn't know he is flees from the people who created him as they want to destroy him for being too human. This book does well at drawing you in quick and making you fall in love with Aiden. I found him intriguing from the beginning and Elena was just as endearing. This is a nice quick read that can appeal to anyone. I felt the ending was a little rushed but I hope to read more of Aiden and Elena.
I loved this book! It reminded a little bit of Twilight, with great chemistry between an empathetic human girl and an otherwordly boy who only wants the best for her but is a little...different. Fast-paced, exciting action scenes with plenty of suspense, just enough sci fi to be fun and not too heavy, a tight story, and a heartwarming, wholesome romance. I can imagine a streaming service turning this into a successful limited series TV show. Calling all producers! A terrific YA read.
I haven't been into YA books for a while but this book reminded me why I love YA so much. I was hooked from the very beginning, I know that sounds cliche but its true. It had the best Maximum Ride vibes and it hit all the right spots. I wanted to know everything about Project Aiden. I did see the end coming but regardless of it I loved it.
You can't help but fall for Aiden in this fast paced, YA sci-fi novel. The company that has created him, now wants him destroyed because he exhibits some human traits that they are not happy with. What happens when Aiden escapes the facility sets off a non-stop ride right to the ending.
This is another example of how far is too far when robotics and A.I. are involved.
