Ellie is just looking for a little peace and quiet for a few days, but she gets anything but when the lady she is renting an airbnb from is rushed to the hospital upon her arrival. Thus sets forth her being right smack dab in the middle of 82 year old Marilyn’s family drama with her daughters. She wasn’t expecting Marilyn’s grandson, Warren, to question her intentions. I did not like their first encounter, I think it could have been done elsewhere.

Ellie has her own family drama she’s dealing with. Her mom was pretty annoying honestly. So when she’s unwillingly thrown into Marilyn’s, as well, she does all she can to be supportive and help this sweet lady out, even if it means wrangling a whole bunch of animals that she has no clue how to take care of.

Overall, I thought this was adorable and a fun time. I really enjoyed the friendship Ellie and Marilyn had. I hope I’ll be as delightful as Marilyn when I’m her age. This is more about Ellie’s growth and less about the romantic feelings forming between her and Warren. There are some funny bits that kept me entertained.

Narration notes:
Stephanie did a wonderful job bringing the story to life.

Cute romance with a great cast of characters that had me smiling at their antics. I enjoyed the small rural town setting as it felt charmingly personal. A nice lazy Sunday read.

The definition of a feel-good read. I’m unsure how to summarize the pure fun this book was! Farm settings will always be my catnip.

In need of an escape to figure out her future, Ellie retreats to Montana to rent an Airbnb on farm property. But when she sees the owner of the farmhouse leaving in an ambulance, Ellie lands herself in the middle of stable chores, runaway animals, an unexpected romance, and a family drama outside her own.

The laughs this book gave me! And many of those are thanks to Marilyn, the super feisty eighty-two-year-old widow who runs the farm at her own discretion. I highlighted nearly everything that came out of her mouth, I swear. I loved this woman and her wild ideas.

It’s truly a vacation turned upside down for Ellie, and I adored seeing her find friendships, learn to take risks, and of course find love …

Will it be the crotchety grandson of Marilyn or the charming neighbour down the road? It’s best to go in blind and experience the utterly swoonworthy moments yourself.

(heat level: kissing only)

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Said No One Ever by Stephanie Eding
Attempting a getaway vacation to decide on her future, Ellie Reed travels to a Montana farm where she has rented a tiny house. No sooner than she puts her suitcase down, an ambulance arrives at the farm and takes the owner away with a broken ankle. Ellie doesn’t know anything about farm work or taking care of sheep, goats, and a rambunctious dog and vicious rooster. but she’s willing to help wherever she can. Neighbor Blake Robins comes to the rescue when the sheep wanders away and then the owner’s grandson, Warren shows up and accuses Ellie of trying to swindle his grandmother.
Ellie still needs to figure out her own future thats been decided by her mother and sister but in the meantime, the eggs won’t collect themselves, so Ellie pitches in.

A charming romp with an irrepressible elderly woman bent on her own agenda to cause havoc and perhaps find a lost love for herself and a new reason for her grandson to return to the farm.
Sweet and delightful.

Sadly this one didn't work for me; not what I'd expected based on the cover and synopsis. I listened to the audiobook, but quit at 26% because the story's just not enjoyable to me.

Funny and heartwarming, Said No One Ever is a light and quick read about a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when she goes on a vacation.

I would probably categorize this as women’s fiction, not romance, as the story focuses more on Ellie’s growth than the love story. Ellie had a great character arc. At the start of the story, Ellie was floundering. With a recent break-up and almost certain job loss, Ellie decides to go on a vacation to a rural town in Montana. Here she plans to regroup and reevaluate her life. However, when her host has an accident upon Ellie’s arrival, Ellie’s life is changed, and she finds herself in the midst of a chaotic and entertaining journey taking care of farm animals, visiting with her host, and being pulled into family drama.

Ellie is such a relatable character who faces the criticism of her family, the break-up of a six-year relationship, and job insecurity. She’s constantly criticized by her family, and her self-esteem is not great. Between the break-up and the family pressures, not to mention that she needs to look for a new job, Ellie has a lot on her plate. However, she grows a ton over the course of the story, and she learns a lot about herself during her stay. Kind, caring, and compassionate, she never loses her spunk and generous spirit. I think her story and her situations will resonate with readers.

The friendship between Ellie and Marilyn is one of the highlights of the novel. I love that these two women connect, and Marilyn is an absolute riot! She is always up to something, and her shenanigans are hysterical. Warren, Marilyn’s grandson, is also wonderful. A bit of a grump, Warren is very devoted to his grandmother, and they have a lovely bond. And the banter between Ellie and Warren is fabulous – definite grumpy-sunshine vibes going on with these two!

This is a light, fun, and comical read and one that contemporary romance readers might enjoy. And a special shout-out to the farm animals. They were adorable, and like Marilyn, they were up to all kinds of shenanigans in the story. Ellie’s interactions with them are fantastic!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Girls finding themselves and finding ways to stand up for themselves- YAAAAASSS. All it took was getting away from her family and meeting an eccentric old woman for some lives to change- and definitely for the better. I was a little sad at how the family treated the elderly in this book but it did get much better.

🌀Synopsis
Ellie needs a break from her family. Well more like a break from her family making choices for her…she rents an Airbnb at a little farm, ready to clear her mind and make her own decisions. The day she shows up the owner, Marilyn, falls and breaks her hip. This lands her in recovery at a nursing home and leaves Ellie to take care of the farm.
It’s a blessing and a curse that her grandson, Warren, shows up a few days later. A blessing because he knows the animals but a curse because he suspects Ellie is trying to pull some scam on his grandma.
Marilyn and Ellie become fast friends though and when the family is determined to make her sell the farm the two come up with a plan so Ellie can stay. It just happens to include Warren who has also grown on Ellie quite a bit too.

Ellie Reed just wants to get away from her family. Their constant criticism and attempts to control her life (live in grandma's help and help with renovations, be a nanny to her sister's children, come home etc.) have destroyed her self-esteem. While waiting for her job to end, she is on a vacation in Montana living in a tiny house on a farm that she found on Airbnb. When she arrives, her landlady, Marilyn, is taken away in an ambulance and there is no one else there to care for the animals. The next thing she knows is that she is looking after the animals (staying for free now), and dealing with Marilyn's family. Before long, the handsome neighbour is making overtures and she is best friends with spunky 80 something Marilyn, who wants to stay on her farm despite her daughters' ideas and maybe playing matchmaker as well.

This was a fun story. Watching Ellie trying to take care of the various animals was a hoot, as well as hearing all their names and why Marilyn called them what she had. Marilyn, a feisty 82 year old grandma who loved her farm and wanted to stay no matter what, is my kind of lady. She knew her mind and spoke it. I loved the way she would ignore her grandson's calls and make him communicate through Ellie, matchmaking from the start. Warren was not a very likable character at the beginning, but he grew on Ellie as well as me. Not all the characters were nice. There is the neighbour who will do whatever it takes to buy the farm and Warren's mother and aunt, who think they know what their mother needs without listening to her. This is a story with romance, family, personal growth, treatment of elders, greed and power, all wrapped up in a humorous story that I highly recommend. The narration by Stephanie Richardson was well done. She has a pleasant voice, gave the characters their own voices and added just the right amount of emotion and expression. I enjoyed listening to this story.

Ellie's life may be imploding, but at least she still has a 3 week vacation at a quiet Montana farm stay to enjoy. Until she arrives and her host Marilyn is taken away in an ambulance! With no one else around, the responsibility for the animals now falls to Ellie... and she has no idea what she's doing.

She's just beginning to settle into her new normal when a man confronts her in the shower and accuses her of trespassing! Warren is Marilyn's solemn grandson and had no idea that his grandmother was injured, or that she'd started to sublet the tiny home he built for himself.

The two have no choice but to co-exist in order to keep the farm running smoothly. But Marilyn's accident has set the vultures circling and if they aren't careful, this could be the end of the farm for good! Can Ellie & Warren put aside their differences and work together? Or will this be the final straw that sends Marilyn into a care home?

First of all, Marilyn is the Grandma that everyone wishes they had! She's fiesty and full of life; I think we would all be so lucky to live like her in our older age. Warren is a classic grumpy MMC, whilst FMC Ellie is quirky with a LOT to process within 3 short weeks.

I was engrossed in the story and loved the close community feel of the town. Ellie built some beautiful connections (both human and animal) in the story and Sheriff and Hilda were such sweet hearts!

This book was one of the few audios I’ve listened to. I thought the narrator was perfect for the story - she was engaging and her tones helped to contribute to the story. I thought it was a light, fun read with a bunch of humor and I found it to be enjoyable from start to finish. I loved Ellie and Marilyn’s friendship and the shenanigans Marilyn was always trying to get herself (and others) into. I also liked the underlying romcom story line and the mostly practical growth of the relationship. The farm and animals were another fun added touch, especially the dog, Hilda. The setting on a farm and the way it helped Ellie’s character development was enjoyable and I especially liked it helping her to gain confidence to deal with her own overbearing family. I recommend this book for a light, quick read! Thank you Net Galley for the ARC!

This was cute, and I loved the grandmother and her relationship with Ellie. They had some cute interactions and I love books that have friendships between people of different ages. However, a lot of the language used was very juvenile (Ellie calls another character “Captain Fartsicle” at one point) which detracted from the story for me. She came off as very immature, especially since she resorted to name calling a lot. It was still cute, and I loved all the antics with the farm animals!

First i found the cover and synopsis to be extremely appealing that's why I requested for it, but its not what i excepted it to be

Thanks NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for this Audiobook.

I wouldn't call this a romance novel, as its very light and the romance aspect didnt kick in till after 60-70%. After waiting all this time, the chemistry was mehhh and it wasn't my cup of tea.

But i must say the book had a cute premise and there were parts of the story that were charming and funny but most part were just dragging and pretty annoying.
It fell short.

If you are looking for a super cute rom Com set in a dreamy small town, Said No One Ever by Stephanie Eding is it for you.

Ellie got stuck with a colorful old but gold lady, her farm, her band of crazy animals and her grumpy grandson when she booked an Airbnb to escape her sad chaotic life. It was full of hilarious coincidences and funny twists. It was all very entertaining. This vacation proved to be the game changer she desperately needed. She is a very sweet and kind girl who has been put in a rock and hard place and these few days in Choteu gave her much needed strength and clarity to show the awesome woman she is. Warren Oliver is the grumpy grandson who cannot believe that his lively grandmother has started an Airbnb without consulting her overbearing daughters. They had a constant back and forth full of wit and fun. The story is told in third person POV and from Ellie's view. I enjoyed the laugh out loud moments but I didn't find much chemistry between Ellie and Warren. The romance was lacking. It didn't have any spice. So if you want a sweet romance to entertain you, it is a good choice.

This was a really fun women's fiction/romance set in rural Montana. Feeling lost in life after breaking up with her long time boyfriend and getting let go from her job, Ellie decides to book a mini vacation. When she arrives on the farm her elderly AirBnB host has an accident that lands her in the hospital. What follows is some forced proximity with the her host's grandson, farm animal shenanigans and a lovely second chance romance. Great on audio too narrated by Stephanie Richardson. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for early digital copies in exchange for my honest review!

Ellie Reed is having a bit of a rough patch in life. She decides to take a vacation to Montana and stay at an Airbnb for 3 weeks. On her first day there the owner of the Airbnb is hurt and taken away in an ambulance. Ellie decides to visit her in the rehab facility and meets a spunky 82 year old named Marilyn. Marilyn asks Ellie to help out on the farm and gives her a list of things to grab at the house. She meets the neighbor Blake and has a run-in with the grandson Warren. Warren thinks Ellie is trying to scam his grandma. Marilyn is trying to find her first love.

This was such a fun adventure with Ellie and her controlling family and Marilyn's controlling daughters. The friendships made. I laughed and cried equals a fantastic book.

Thank you @sourcebookcasa @dreamscape_media @netgalley for a copy this book. Ellie escapes to a small town Montana as her life is at a crossroad and all things break loose when the host needs help taking care of the property. She meets the host grandson, Warren, and there's mistrust and they must learn to figure out how to bear with each other. This felt more like women's fiction and Ellie figures out how to handle her family and Warren doing the same with his family. I didn't really buy their love story and wanted to see it develop.

This was such a charming story, particularly in the second half as the MC really gets pulled into the drama surrounding spitfire grandma Marilyn! I loved the whole found-family aspect and the message that it's never too late for romantic love! All of the animals added to the charm! A very fun escapist read with loveable characters, both human and animal.

What's with this weird fetishizing of quirky old people? Do we only like old ladies if they're spunky? Not those quiet, tired ones, certainly!

Meh. Most of this book was time spent justifying bad decisions that most of us would agree were foolish.

SAID NO ONE EVER was an absolute joy to read! This story has everything – comedy, drama, a touch of romance, and a donkey! The cast contains a hilarious, feisty grandma (or two), a cantankerous, skeptical grandson, and a city girl who just needs to take a moment and reexamine her life.

Ellie needs to relax and rewind, she needs to get out of Columbus, Ohio. She's in the middle of some life-altering situations – one of her own doing, but the others not so much. Where better to forget everything than a middle-of-nowhere farm in central Montana? Marilyn Perry is a spicy, elderly farmer who just so happens to be excited to rent out her tiny house to interested travelers.

I don't know what to say, this was a sweet, funny story about different women finding what they want or need. It's a story about life and the different stages and ages. This was a story of friendships formed in unlikely places. It was also about finding one's voice and the confidence to wield it. It's a story about different family dynamics and the effect they have on those they're trying so desperately to help.

I honestly loved this book and will be adding it to my re-read shelf.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this book – it leads the reader down a variety of garden paths and they are all great fun. Ellie has left a boring relationship and is reassessing her future – as far away from her hometown that she can be, in a guest house at a farm. She ends up doing far more animal care than she could imagine.

Marilyn, the elderly, injured owner of the farmhouse is highly entertaining, but also pretty insightful. Her desire to retain her freedom even as she gets older and less able is admirable, and when we also understand her desire to give her grandson, Warren, a different future, she is even more of a hero.

Eding uses our natural desire to give Ellie a romantic interest to make us think about how perception affects our judgment! It gives Ellie a chance to work out what is important and just how much she needs to value what she wants above family and expectation.

Fun read!

If that quote doesn’t convince to read this book I don’t know what will! Said No One Ever was a hilarious, zany adventure that I didn’t know I needed in my life. First of all, I was not expecting Marilyn — what a hoot!! Think Betty White on crack…in a good way though!! I love old ladies in books and she’s my new favorite. She had me cackling from beginning to end. The unlikely friendship she forms with Ellie after she comes to Marilyn’s aid was my favorite part of this whole story. It was both hilarious and heartwarming — I’m still thinking about it!!

Then there’s our heroine Ellie! Talk about character growth! Her character arc was perfection. I love how she went from people pleaser to a take charge, independent go getter. She still stayed true to herself by being kind and helping others, but no longer to her detriment. This story was the perfect blend of women’s fiction and romance. All I’m going to say about the romance is that it was handled so well and in a very grownup way. There are two romances in this story and it’s best to peel back that onion for yourself.

There is so much to love in this book — loveable farm animals, Hilda, nursing home shenanigans, funny nicknames, a certain grumpy grandson. I’m sure I’m missing something, but I just can’t recommend this book enough!!

I was fortunate enough to receive an audio-ARC of "Said No One Ever" by Stephanie Eding, and I have mixed feelings about my listening experience. While I appreciated certain aspects of the story, it ultimately fell short in others. In this review, I'll explore my thoughts on the book, including my connection to the characters and my gratitude for the opportunity to listen to the audio-ARC.

One of the strengths of "Said No One Ever" was the character development of Ellie and Marilyn. As a young woman struggling with anxiety and uncertainty, I strongly connected to Ellie and her journey. I rooted for her as she navigated post-college life and worked to overcome her fears. Similarly, I became attached to Marilyn and her story. The portrayal of her aging and the challenges that come with it was both realistic and poignant.

While I enjoyed the character development, I was less enthused about the plot and pacing of the story. The conflict lacked the high stakes I had hoped for, and I wanted more tension and excitement. The pacing felt slow, and some of the supporting characters needed to be more developed.

As for the audio-ARC, I'm grateful to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to listen. The narrator did an excellent job bringing the characters to life, and her performance was engaging and enjoyable. However, I sometimes wanted to skip forward due to the slow pacing.

Overall, "Said No One Ever" is a book that may appeal to readers who are looking for relatable characters and a slice-of-life story. However, those who want a more action-packed plot or faster pacing may be disappointed. As someone who connected with Ellie and Marilyn and appreciated the opportunity to listen to the audio-ARC, I give "Said No One Ever" a three-star rating.

Said No One Ever by Stephanie Eding

Ellie Reed travels to a Montana farm where she has rented a tiny house through an Air BNB. She is trying to figure out her life she left her boyfriend of 6 years, and her job is ending. As soon as she puts her suitcase down, an ambulance arrives at the farm and takes the owner away with a broken ankle. Ellie doesn’t know anything about farm work or taking care of farm animals and a dog. Blake Robins comes to the rescue when the sheep get loose and Warren shows up and accuses Ellie of taking advantage of his grandmother.

This was such an entertaining book I was laughing constantly. I really felt bad though how bad Ellie was treated by her own family. I highly recommend this book for hit storytelling and the romance was sweet. Warren's grandmother is funny, and I love her spunk and the way she handled things.

The audio book was narrated by Stephanie Richardson who really brings life to the characters and made this such a good listen.

Ellie rents an Airbnb in the middle of nowhere, Montana, to get away from her life. She's thrust into the shenanigans and family drama of her host and becomes her host's pseudo-caretaker. Between the elderly lady's meddling, two polar opposite men, and the never-ending line of animals, Ellie is busier than she expected to be on her solo retreat.
I found the cover and synopsis to be extremely appealing. Love triangles aren't for everyone but I like the push and pull between the characters and the juxtaposition the MC finds herself in with two personalities vying for her attention. Usually, I'll pick the wrong LI but, in this case, I was on the right team. I wasn't connected to any of the characters, however, despite really enjoying Stephanie's last release and the summary for this one. This won't deter me from trying another by her.
The narrator, Stephanie Richardson, is fine. I didn't find that she added much to the story through her performance and it probably added to my waning interest.

Filled with a barnyard of characters, farm life charm, and feisty senior citizens, this was such a cute rom com to listen to! This is also a great non-steamy story (I think there's only two kisses in the whole book) that you don't have to be embarrassed reading in public. Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced listening copy of this.

In an effort to escape a bad breakup and overbearing family, Ellie books a tiny house stay on Airbnb in remote Montana. She arrives expecting a relaxing vacation, but is instead met with a spunky bulldog, escapee donkey, hangry chickens, and her host being wheeled into an ambulance because of a nasty fall. With no family to come to the elderly owner's aid, Ellie steps up and takes charge of the situation. Just when she thinks everything is under control, the owner's handsome, but grumpy, grandson shows up to kick Ellie out...

Fun and Appropriate, this was a Cozy rom com.
