The title is a little misleading for this book, Yoruba is a people, culture and history. There is history in this book, but it focuses on West African spirituality. There is a lot of generalizations in this book, Mari Silva specializes in Celtic spirituality, so I felt that this book's chapters were not well researched and could errors. The section on Orishas is better and is the only well researched part of this book.

Yoruba, This book was quite interesting on all the Yoruba history, and traditions many people tried to preserve throughout the centuries. The culture was spread throughout the world by slavery. Many of the captured slaves tried to maintain a sense of their culture as Christianity was forced upon them by their captures. the Ancient Religion is making a comeback without resistance.

Nice information

This is great and good from non-Yoruba . I really like this information, it sheds light on some many misinformation about Yorubas and the Orishas. Yorubas are not idol worshippers but seek God (Olodumare) through the help of Orisha (Messengers).
