Emmet Fox was a New Thought spiritual leader of the early 20th century, famous for his large Divine Science church services held in New York City during the Depression.
This is a great resource book, not the type of book you read straight through but I would say over the course of 6 months I would read each lesson and really use it to meditate on.
THE POPULAR AUTHOR PROVIDES SHORT ‘INSPIRATIONAL’ MEDITATIONS
Author Emmet Fox wrote in the first chapter of this 1952 book, “God is Infinite Life. God is Boundless Love. God is Infinite Intelligence. God is Unfathomable Wisdom. God is Unspeakable Beauty. God is the Unchanging Principle of Perfect Good. God is the Soul of man. I am the image and likeness of God, and I have the power of the Word. When I speak that Word, it goes forth and cannot return void. It accomplishes the thing whereunto I send it. That Word goes forth charged with the power of God. Now I speak the Word in your name and in mine. In invoke the power of the Healing Christ, and I say that the full power of God is now awakened in you, filling your soul with peace and life and joy. God is light, and that Light fills your Soul.” (Pg. 1)
He states, “In metaphysics, we often speak of claiming our good, and it is one of the surest ways of bringing the good we desire in our lives… If you want wealth, then claim every day that God is your health, that as a child of God you have perfect health… that Divine Life brings well-being to every part of your body. If you want prosperity, then claim every day that God is your prosperity and the Giver of every good gift, that God knows you and is ready to more than supply your every need… Whatever it is you wish to bring into your life, STAKE YOUR CLAIM to it.” (Pg. 7-8)
He asserts, “negative thinking only begets more negative thinking, and we simply keep on producing more and more negative conditions. Now, prayer is always good, but it is at the very times that we think prayer is not working that we need it most. Instead of going round and round like a trapped rat in a cage, you should pause and reflect once more upon the love and goodness of God, because if it only by a rise in consciousness that you can begin to rise above your problems.” (Pg. 29-30)
He notes, “The most powerful prayer is simply to see God doing the work and to rejoice in this. This is the best way of all to avoid tension and will power, and therefor to get results.” (Pg. 44)
He suggests, “I am often asked if it is essential to observe the Lord’s Day. In metaphysics, the answer is that we should make every day the Lord’s Day. Whatever the name of the day may be we should remember that it belongs to God and that we should live it in that spirit… Of course, this does not mean that it is not good to have a day of rest once a week, for it certainly is; but nevertheless we should try to make every day in the week the Lord’s Day.” (Pg. 62)
He observes, “The Bible is full of promises as to what God will do for His children, but perhaps Jesus put it the most plainly when he said, ‘What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone…?’ So you have a divine right to expect all these good things from God. But what does God expect of us? Well, God has a right to expect what we will put Him first in our hearts. That means that we will see God in all things and in all persons---in short, Practice of the Presence of God.” (Pg. 88)
