Harry Potter like mystery

Ella and her family move into a new home in a new town. She is certain the house is haunted, but her brother and parents think she is being silly and making it all up. When the black mould on the walls keeps appearing after being wash off with bleach her brother finally starts to believe her. What happens next. I was on the edge of my seat reading this one.

Would have given it five stars but thought the ending was kind of flat. Tried going to the nest page but it had just ended. I still recommend the book and will be sharing w.with my granddaughter. I think she will enjoy it as much as I did.

A moulded mess!

It was a wonderful setting! Loved the story but couldn't put it down. Wasn't so crazy about Emma and her father liked the spell that was on them! Great read!

This was a pretty good witchy, haunted house story. It was fast paced with a good plot.

There were some things I had issues with. There were no chapter breaks, and the use of quotation marks was pretty bizarre. The worst thing was the blatant body shaming. Distasteful and unnecessary.

Sweet but slightly spooky story.

Hello, there! This book is in a British setting, but all the town are made-up. I think, never really bothered to check, anyway- let’s dive into the fun.

I enjoyed this book a lot, so I finished it quickly. Ella Tickles (interesting last name, but a cute one) moves from her home, with all her friends and her school and all that, to a very creepy mansion… her and her brother ask their parents several times not to buy the house, because Ella tells said brother, Kieran, that she saw eerie black mold (or as it is called in the book due to, well, British spelling, mould) creeping down the wall while she was in the bathroom, glowing eyes in the attic, and a strange shadow out the window. But her parents don’t listen. Even her calm father thinks she’s lying! And so they move into their own little fixer-upper..well, not little, did I mention that the house is very big? No? Well, now you know! So, anyway, things seem normal for a while, until several eerie events take place. And it keeps getting worse! When Ella invites a school bully over to lead her into a trap using the houses many dangerous magical things, the girl touches the black mold. and everything goes wrong! Ella soon realizes that she, like the woman who cursed their home, is a witch! And a powerful one. But, can she save their new home with the help of an old but brilliant man, another witch, and her brother? Well, to find that out, you’ll have to read the book. I hope you enjoy it, because I did. And therefore, I totally recommend Into the Dark.

Thank you for reading my review, and have a good day!

Ella and Kieran are upset when their parents decide to move to a bigger house. The home shift also implies new school and making new friends and foes. But one visit and Ella knows that there is something terribly wrong with the house. There are ever growing black moulds, bats flapping in the attic and a mossy cellar which houses a cupboard full of potions and a book of dark magic and spells. And of course not to forget the woods with the tree swiping hard as you go near it and the spider plants which can uproot themselves and attack you. But how does Ella convince her parents that the house is haunted? What is the dark past that still invades the coldness of the rooms ? How does Ella confront her fears and accept who she is?

Children's books are always good stress busters. Though a bit overstretched at parts it was quite enjoyable.
