Horror anthologies might not be for everyone, but what I can tell you is that this particular anthology has a little bit of something for everyone.
While it is slasher-centric, which means a great deal of the stories have to do with summer camps, not all of them are presented as such. Honestly, when I started the first story, I did not have high hopes for this book because I'm not a big fan of horror sci-fi. However, the book quickly redeemed itself as the next few stories were titillating. Somewhere towards the end, I started losing interest again, but that could also just be because I read this too quickly.
While I highly recommend this book, I do not recommend people read it in one or two sittings as I have. Digest it slowly, chew on it, slash it into pieces. If you like tropes such as teen scream, summer slashing, and/or horror short stories in general, then this is the book for you!
Another brilliant anthology of slashers from some brilliant horror authors. While I felt like Volume 1 had stories more to my taste, this one was great in its own way. As is the way with anthologies, you aren't always going to love every story, and that was the case here. But the ones I did love were absolutely amazing. I'm looking forward to finally starting volume 3.
Camp Slasher Lake Vol II is just as fun and bloody as Vol I. Each story inside highlights its own slasher and, you guessed it… many deaths. Each story was enjoyable and hit all the slasher marks. A few of my favorites were Evisceration Liberation, Fat Fran and Custer’s Last Stand.
If you want a thrilling and gory read with campy 80s vibes, check this one out!
"Losing focus means possibly losing my prey. I'm the master of the impulses throttling my brain."
Having already read the first one, I knew I had to read this one when it came out. It is just as good as the first one. Another 80's like short story compilation of slasher horror. Out of the 11 stories, there isn't a bad one in the bunch, but as with the first volume, I have my favorites.
Evisceration Liberation by Jay Bower Father's Day by Kevin McHugh Skulls on the Shelf by Carl R. Moore Ash Wednesday by Mark Wheaton The Gospel According to Teddy by Darren Todd He Hunts at Night in the Boneyard Bog by Brett Mitchell Kent Custer's Last Stand by D.W. Hitz
Those are the ones that I really, really liked, but as I said above, there isn't a bad story in the bunch. If you love 1980's nostalgia and slasher gore, then this is the book for you.
Thank you D.W.Hitz for an Advanced Copy here is my Honest Review.
The novel is the Companion to Camp Slasher Lake volume 2. I really enjoyed this Collection of Creepy, Scary, Gruesome Camp Stories.
Two of my favorite stories were Fat Fran and Ash Wednesday. Fat Fran by Kay Hanifen is an Urban Legend in a Summer Camp Setting. " Revenge is for the Living" Kristy (2014) meets The Burning(2018) Ash Wednesday by Mark Wheaton is a Crime Horror Adventure. All Buried Family Secrets eventually Rise to the Surface.
The Anchor Story Custer's Last Stand by D. W. Hitz. Custer's Last Stand is the conclusion of the last story that was started in Volume One. It has plenty of twist and turns. Is the Bogeyman still out there?
I highly Recommend this Collection for anyone that can't get enough of the vintage 80's horror slashers.

A fun selection of slasher stories that I assumed might be a bit samey, considering the theme, but every writer brought something different to the table. Consistently good writing from author to author and some really fun stories!
If you enjoy masked maniacs, slashers who slash creatively with an array of unlikely weapons, the dark arts, cults, and a general delicious 80s vibe (despite most of these stories not taking place in that decade), this is an anthology for you! Consistently good writing, fun story plots, and an overall tone and feel that will fit in nicely on the shelves of anyone who enjoys the likes of Jason.
I can't finish the review without mentioning my favourite story, 'Disassembler 3: The Revenge of Billy Burns'. If ever I've read a story that truly encapsulates the balls out, batshit crazy, love of horror that I have, it's this one. Every time I thought "okay, I'm done laughing now - there can't possibly be a dark humour joke or a savage meta joke that tickles me more than this one", I'd turn the page and find the likes of someone like Charlie.
