An interesting but superficial contemporary account is Silicon Valley. Did not receive adequate editing.

An interesting simple read. Most books of this genre become too focused on certain of the many aspects of the technology business and get lost in one of the many interesting stories of the silicon valley. This book however means business. It sticks to the title and concisely explains the culture and 'how-to-survive' in the fast paced valley. Would recommend if anyone wants a quick insight into the formation of the silicon valley.
