If he’s not careful, he’ll end up in the emotional doghouse and might not ever make it out…
For Haley Redmon, must love dogs is more than just a saying; it’s a way of life. She’d never want a romantic relationship with a man who didn’t get along with her animals. So, when her dog seems to approve of the handsome real estate broker she’s falling for, Haley’s thrilled. But then a new puppy joins her tribe and everything changes…
Austin Young wasn’t looking for romance when he came to Oak Creek, but he isn’t about to turn his back on it, either. And Haley is perfect …except for her insistence on adopting an intolerable, destructive puppy. With so many animals to care for, he can’t help but wonder if there’s even room in her life—or heart—for him…
Will a little hell-raiser of a puppy destroy the fragile bonds Haley and Austin have built? Or will this pair of opposites find a way to overcome their differences and take a real shot at happily ever after?

B.K. Stubblefield is a writer with a passion for dogs and dog rescue. Her dog, Harper, inspired her Oak Creek series, so it is to no surprise that each book features a loveable canine. B.K. Stubblefield was born and raised in Germany, where she met her husband. Supporting his military career, she moved between Europe and the United States for many years. Now she makes her home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where she draws inspiration from the slower pace of small-town living. https://facebook.com/BKStubblefield1 https://BKStubblefield.com
This book set in Oak Creek, Kentucky is centered around Haley and Austin. Haley and Austin meet when he comes to pick up the Taste of Town gift basket he won in Barkville Rescues Fall Fundraiser. They’re attracted to each other and he knows just how to use some of the certificates in the gift basket. He calls the shelter to ask her out. She thinks it’s the car dealer again and answers, “the answer is still NO, so please stop calling.” They have a romance, but break up. Now, it’s five weeks after their breakup and Austin is seen around town with a new woman. I’m not leaving any spoilers because I want everyone to fall in love with this series of books, like I have. If you enjoy reading about the love of animals, especially dogs, great friends, wonderful characters, and small town living, then you will love this book.

The new rescue puppy is causing tension between Austin and Haley, and they can't agree on a solution. They're miserable apart - until he comes up with a way to win her heart again. I love Austin and Haley together, and they've got some great supporting characters. The real stars of this book are the furry children... Jake, so chill... Max, the little troublemaker... Tripod, the little three-legged sweetie. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, such a great little afternoon read I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked all the characters but loved all the fur kids. The story was a little choppy to read. It starts in present then goes backwards, then present again. When it goes to the past sometimes it stays there for several chapters, it became a little confusing. I like that it is told dual point of view. I would recommend it but not a beach read.

This was such a great book. It had a beautiful love story and dogs….what could be better?
Haley runs an animal rescue and Austin just moved to town. They have a chance encounter and let's just say there are butterflies! I truly enjoyed this book. It was an easy read with a very happy ending.

I loved this short, easy to read, interesting, and exciting book. Well written and good character development. Enjoyed this book and recommend it to others!
I really liked how this switched between now and when Hayley and Austin first met so you get to see how their relationship started up to how it ended and what's happening now. They had insta attraction and their attraction along with the relationship continues to bloom until mistakes are made. You get why both sides reacted the way they did, but I also got a bit frustrated with Hayley when she just shuts down anything to do with Austin as you know they are perfect for each other so are rooting for Austin to make her see sense.

Haley Redmon gives her heart to her animals first. Her dog readily accepts Austin Young, who is new to town. So she is happy with his company. But when she adds a new rescue puppy, the puppy’s destructive habits cause issues that Austin and Haley can’t seem to resolve. He ends up feeling like the one neglected. But being apart is making them both unhappy. Will one of them find a solution that lets them all remain together? Or is it too late to get Austin back now?
This is an adorable small town romance. The book is a well written, sweet story with just enough steam. The characters are heartwarming and charming. I loved the storyline and cute animals, even the destructive puppy. The book offers love, laughter, a HEA and plenty of rescue animals. Haley and Austin may not have been looking for a relationship when they met but they found one. Haley had the big life as a paralegal now she just wanted her dogs and her animal rescue but Austin made the mistake of not understanding its importance. Their story was pretty sweet and reading about the rescue was very interesting.
Chances is a well written romance with perfect balance between romance and the hardships followed to keep a relationship everlasting. The characters and the doggos were all well written and the plot line was refreshing to read.

book is kind of boring.... felt very narrated and fast paced, and the flashback to the past didn't help much either.
additionally, the book needs better editing, the speech apostrophe are either at the wrong location or missing when it's suppose to be there, which makes the paragraph or sentences feels kind of weird to read.
not for me, wouldn't read other books from this author anymore.
“Chances” is a tale geared toward animal lovers, specifically dog lovers, as Haley is all about pets, with the added fun being Austin is all about Haley.
If you love dogs, you will love this story! But it's not just about rescue dogs (my personal favorite), but also the unfolding love story of Austin and Haley, and how it can be so easy to ruin a relationship based on misunderstanding, and perhaps a bit of mischief from the fur baby of the house. No need to take chances on this read. It's so enjoyable from start to finish!!
I found the book extremely slow and sorry to say not really interesting. It lack of humour and this structure present , flashbacks doesn’t really serve well the story.

I didn't know what to expect of Chances - I gambled on an affordable book. What I got was a feisty heroine who would almost slot into erotica. Almost - it's a strong, fast-paced, novel with a down-to-earth background of the horrors, and joys, of running a dog rescue centre.
Fans of small-town stories where everyone knows everything, or thinks they do, and like a sizzling-hot read will get their money's worth several times over. If you're not a dog lover, you may well be converted. Highly recommended.
