Mixtape #3

Founded on Deception

Rate this book
I did what I had to do to protect someone I care about.

That sentence almost ruined my career–my life–and painted me as the villain in a story I was trying so desperately to save.

But that story wasn’t finished, and I am not someone you want to piss off.

As the manager for global pop sensation Nash Pierce, I’ve had to make some tough decisions. But when both Nash’s career and passion were threatened by his corrupt record label, the decision was easy–burn the label to the ground.

And do it before Nash’s annoying younger brother Aiden Pierce ruined everything.

No one despised me more than Aiden for what I did, and no one was able to push my buttons like he could. He was cocky, selfish, and had a temper that could blow up my entire plan.

Now, not only did I have to take down a billion-dollar corporation, but I had to do it alongside someone that hated me.

And then things got complicated.

I didn’t expect to let Aiden in–to relinquish control to him so easily. I didn’t foresee being consumed by desire for a man that I held so much animosity toward. It didn’t occur to me that while fighting a common enemy, we might just find our own common ground.

Most of all, I never thought that love and trust could stem from a relationship that had always been founded on deception.

That Enemies to Lovers Tension!
4.5 stars!
Her body draws me in like a magnet, the electricity of our disdain for each other only further fueling the fire between us.

Another book from the Mixtape series and I’m gonna want to devour it, and that's exactly what I did. This story brings in that little bit of forbidden goodness with Aiden being Nash’s younger brother, and Monica being Nash’s manager. With a romance stemming from annoyance and hatred, their tension kept building and building until they both just snapped and stopped denying the inevitable.

I loved how we see such a different side to Monica. She’s not some cold hearted manager, only thinking about the next latest and greatest hit song from Nash Pierce. She actually cares with her heart, and although some of her actions had heartbreaking consequences, she did it for a reason. She's just really misunderstood. Aiden is a fierce protector of his big brother, willing to do anything and everything to make sure Nash doesn’t get hurt again. Though when being strong headed, brings a whole lot of assumptions.

I wanted these two together as soon as I read their first interaction. They’ve got that fierce banter that is perfect for an enemies to lovers romance. But being enemies brings trust issues, and you see a whole lot of that play out. These two were a rollercoaster of emotions, hot and heavy one minute and almost at each other throats the next.

Just when you see them evolve into something, everythings gotta fall apart. Kat Singleton once again has made me love another Pierce brother, and I love that Aiden is the one that does the groveling this time. I loved the friendship with Lennon, Nora’s sister, and still seeing Nash and Nora completely in love. I wasn’t a fan of what Aiden did near the end of the story, but it also plays a bit into that little brother mentality. All in all though, their story couldn’t have been anymore perfect and that last chapter had me so completely swoony. Read FoD to continue to fall in love with these Mixtape boys, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

(I received an ARC for this book)

Trigger Warnings include:
mentions of sexual assault

She tastes like regret. My mind tries to convince my body that this is wrong, but the urge to devour her wins out. The sweet, warm taste of her is a sharp contrast to the bitter, cold personality she shows the world.

I went into this Team Aiden, because I am always Team Pierce. Especially when it comes to Monica. She had a lot to prove to get me on her side…and only Aiden could help her do that. We’re greeted by a time jump from the time Monica ripped our hearts out to Aiden hopping on his brother’s tour bus. And I knew my heart was in trouble the second he goes to boop her nose, and she swats his hand away. That tension continued, in all its glory. And while I was still working out my issues with Monica, this sexual tension really helped! Aiden had no issue pushing her buttons. All of her buttons. If it meant upsetting her, unsteadying her, being rude, it didn’t matter. And of course, it didn’t matter to Aiden. There was no love loss there. But what did matter to him, was reconnecting with Nash and protecting him. It didn’t take him long to realize he didn’t need to protect Nash from Monica. But that meant he also needed to protect Monica. And that changes everything. Aiden becomes vulnerable, and it allows Monica to do the same. They find comfort and understanding. Who thought we’d get here?! I’m pretty good about schooling my face so no one knows what I’m reading, but Aiden Pierce REALLY had me struggling! What is it with these Pierce men and needing to make big declarations of love?! Not that I’m complaining! Per Mixtape tradition, I was a puddle of tears by the end.

My Mixtape heart needed to also include a few little tidbits I loved:
•Rose, obviously.
•The Nash & Nora thing I won’t spoil but OHMYGOD!
•Sebastian being replaced. I knew he would be…but ouch.
•All the amazing side characters, doing their own thing, making me happy in return.

little liar: 16

My Favorite Quotes:
• “Does the devil ever miss you in hell?”
• “I’m so curious to see how far you’ll let me go-how far you’ll bend.”
• “I don’t have to like you to want to do that again.”
• “Tell me how I can hate you but crave you all the same.”
• “I hate the way that I’m desperate to be in control of your heartbeats.”
• “Making you rage has become my favorite kind of foreplay.”
• “A filthy little liar.”
• “In my dreams, you’d be begging.”
• “Get on your knees, little liar.”
• “Red is becoming my favorite color. But I personally think it looks better on the floor.”
• “Talk about other men when my face is between your thighs and I will make damn sure this sweet little p!ssy isn’t usable for weeks.”
• “You’re going to do it again and again until I tell you I’m done. Understand?”
• “Look at me when I make you lose control.”
• “I’ll give you enough for the both of us.”
• “I trust you so much that my heart is so f!cking yours.”
• “Kiss me like you hate me.”

A reread and still a 5 ⭐️ I just missed this hot headed and angsty couple 🤚🏼

𝑻𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆, 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂,” 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔. “𝑫𝒐 𝑰 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒔?”

.

Let me start this messy (I'm sure) review with the quote above 😂. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐏𝐑 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞-𝐚𝐫𝐜. 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐.

First things first, the cover is doing something for me. I usually don't like blonde-ish-brown-haired heroes you know, I'm more of the dark-haired, brooding/ sarcastic, morally grey one but THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE, like the 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐥'𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥 (𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐱), made me love a blonde one.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭:

-𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐲
-𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞
-𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝/ 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨
-𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐩 (𝟑𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟐𝟐)
-𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫
-𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐭, 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰-𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧, 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬

So I did shamelessly devour this book, not gonna lie about it. Stayed up until 4 am this morning just to finish this book which shows how much I did enjoy this.

The writing did improve in 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. It was much more bewitching that I can't put it down and had to go on because of the 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐒𝐓. Don't get me started on how deliciously frustrating Aiden and Monica were.

These 2 had me choking with their distressing qualities which I would say were valid and at the same time wicked in each of their circumstances but still made their character more appealing to me. Which I would say is a shock? I admit, I despised Monica in Founded on Goodbye because of what she did- which I'm not going to say what because- 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐒.

Going back to the plot, I would say that the plot was far more engaging here powered by the flawlessly carried out sequencing of the events, tropes, and of course the romance.

Aside from that, I'm pleased to see relevant issues here, not just in familial aspects but also in line with the dark side of entertainment/ industries which I think needed to be more shown?

Going back to the characters, if you've seen my review of the previous books, you might still be surprised to know that Aiden and Monica are my favorite pairing from the rest, despite their frustrating qualities that normally would have thrown me off.

Their characterization was the definition of 𝐫𝐚𝐰- a perfect description for Aiden aside from his 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 which sometimes I find displeasing even though his reasoning in some instances is valid.

I also enjoyed Monica's calculating and ruthless personality which was caused by being a daughter of some shtty parents. Despite that nasty thing she did to Aiden's brother being the main plot of the story, and even if she did it out of concern and to save him from destruction, I still could not condone the deed which caused Nash to almost self-destructing in a sense.

Now, these two are just 𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐓 𝐅𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐃𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐔𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐘. The tension and the angst I felt whenever these two are together is astronomical but I'm also so drawn into it.

The development of these characters is just so good, I love how they slowly become undone and bare with each of their selves to each other even though they hated each other to death so much that I'm sure the tension they're emitting would not be enough for the ac to handle.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬. And again, among all the 3 pairings so far in this series, I enjoyed Monica and Aiden's. It just suited the relationship they had.

I also love their domestic scenes together and despite that annoying conflict after their domestic scenes, and even though I wanted to punch Aiden and for him to grovel more, I still love these 2 relentless and frustrating people.

Although I cringed over those things (towards the end), I would say I wasn't thrown off by it, instead, I think that it just suited their character so much. And the ending was so good too.

Overall, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞. I probably would reread this soon to feel something.

I absolutely loved this dang booook. Ugh 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 writing so good. Spice sooo goo, tension Yumm. My only reason for 4 stars only is because in my expectation, M should have been the dominant one because
A was so bratty 🤣. But either way, it was great. I definitely recommend it.

I can't even put into words how much I love Kats writing style and world building!!!
I can only recommend you to read her books.

Monica is a strong and very goal oriented young woman. Already from an early age, being competitive was a big part of her childhood. Thats one of the reasons why Monica knows what she wants and is not afraid to put her plans and ideas into action.

But what happens when one of her plans goes wrong and she just made the younger brother of her rockstar client as her enemy is a good question...

Aiden is moody, hot, the younger brother of Monicas client and he loves to cook.
What Aiden doesn't like and doesn't get along with is Monica.
Since a certain incident happend, Aiden has a special eye on Monica and her actions. (read founded on goodbye, if you want to know what happend)

However, what happens when just watching Monicas actions suddenly turns into attraction and sexual tension between them is a question we will talk about later..

🔥 Reverse age gap
🔥 Enemies to lovers
🔥 Forced proximity

This is the 3rd book in the Mixtape series (but can be read as standalones) and it follows Monica and Aiden’s story.

I’ve been looking forward to Monica’s story and see her get a chance to redeem herself after her actions in the 1st book. Monica is smart and strong and proves to be loyal to a fault. Aiden, has qualities of the annoying younger brother but he is extremely protective of Nash and comes in all guns blazing ready to make Monica pay for what she did to Nash. I really enjoyed the plot as we learn why Monica did what she did and how she is trying to make up for her past mistakes. I love that Aiden becomes involved and they work together despite their intense dislike of each other. These kind of enemies to lovers stories when they have to work together are my favourite!

The development of their relationship from enemies to lovers didn’t feel forced or too fast, there was still a delightful amount of push and pull between them throughout. I would have liked a bit more grovelling from Aiden at the end as he shows his age and immaturity when he lashes out Monica. I’m not normally a fan of reverse age gap for this reason however for the majority of the book the age gap wasn’t noticeable and I think it worked well Monica being older and fitted with her character. Overall this was another excellent addition to the series and I can’t wait for Lennon and Poe’s story!

I kindly received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I don’t know what it is about enemies to lovers but I could read this trope for the rest of my days without ever reading another trope again in my life and I’d be completely fine with it 😄 It’s just the best trope. periodt🤩
The tension.
The undeniable chemistry.
The push and pull.🔥
I love it as much as the love interests hate each other 😂

“Tell me how I can hate you but crave you all the same.”

Monica and Aiden were the best example in this book phew😄 Aiden is the younger brother of famous rockstar Nash Pierce and Monica is his manager. Put them both together and force them in a limited space while they’re on tour? And you’ll get the perfect setting for these two who loathe each other more than anything.

OH AND BTW THIS HAS AN REVERSE AGE GAP ROMANCE TOO!! It’s the first time I’ve read a romance where the FMC is older than her love interest 🙌🏼 She’s 30 and he’s 22😄And I was all here for it 😍

Founded on Deception is the third interconnected standalone book in The Mixtape Series and it comes out tomorrow 🤩
While you can certainly read each book separately I’d still recommend to read them in chronological order or at least the first book Founded on Goodbye before you pick this one up.

“You can still tell me you hate me. You can hate me, fight me, loathe me, I don’t f*cking care. As long as I have you in some way. Hate is a feeling, and where it’s not one I feel from you anymore, if that’s the only feeling I can get from you….then I’ll take it.”

🥵🥵🥵🥵

Monica is the manager for Nash Pierce, a global pop star. In the previous books we saw Monica make decisions to protect Nash’s career. In this book Aiden, Nash’s younger brother, who has never forgiven Monica for her choices joins Monica and Nash on the road wanting to take his ultimate enemy (😉)Monica down.

This book is a spicy CHEFS KISS enemies to lover. That hits all the boxes for me:

Forced proximity ✔️
Reverse age gap✔️
Friends brother✔️
A+ smut✔️
Tension for days✔️
Grovelling✔️

4⭐️ read for me!

I honestly loved the build up/angst in this book and the way the relationship grew from enemies to lovers felt super realistic to me.

I was sucked into this universe and it made me want to fill out some applications to become a groupie ASAP.

Also a man that will save a puppy is the man for me 🐶

Go read this book now!!!!!

I received this book as an ARC from Smuthood Reviews.

Monica made choices that she had to make to save Nash’s career. He forgave her but his brother Aiden hasn’t and probably never will. She doesn’t care what he thinks, she’s a strong determined woman and she’ll do what she has to do to protect Nash. Now they’re heading out on tour and Aiden has invited himself along, she knows he’s going to make her life hell. So far I can’t stand Aiden, he’s definitely acting his age of twenty one. Monica isn’t my favorite either and I’m trying not to throw in the towel on this book.
This story is dragging and I’m clicking my kindle pages at the speed of light. This book is not on KU so I’m getting upset. These two fighting each other constantly, even half way through the book they’re still at it. I’m also not crazy about the age gap but suddenly Aiden man’s up and it becomes a love story. There’s also a little bit of danger and a nasty label executive. I loved the ending of this story, and I’m giving it five stars. I highly recommend this book.

This is Monica and Aidens story and if you’ve read Founded on Temptation you have been waiting for it. The tension was and is always high between these two. They go at it constantly and drive everyone around them crazy.

There’s layers to Monica which I don’t think was really expected. She’s got all the walls and barriers for reasons but deeply cares about Nash and his career and protecting him. However Aiden being the “kid” he is just looks at the surface and has to get his head on straight to peel back the layers.

They both bond over Nash. He’s Aidens brother but become family to Monica. They realize what they’re fighting against together goes much deeper too. When they connect they are fireworks exploding. Their tension is so hot and palpable.

I received an ARC of this and I’m so grateful for this! Overall, 4 stars!! I do think I lacked a bit of the plot by not having read the previous books in the series, but as a standalone story for Monica and Aiden it worked fine! I’m not a fan of age gap, or reverse age gap tropes in general; but I think that’s just me being picky. The story was a quick read and really good, I could’ve used more, or different, spice, it felt odd and sort of mediocre at times, but didn’t take away from the plot at all! I’d give the spice more like 3-3.5 stars. I enjoyed the book overall, but as I said previously, I think I’d enjoy it that much more if I’d had experience with the series. Definitely makes me want to visit it in the future though!!

TROPES: reverse age gap, enemies to lovers, hate to love

Aiden & Monica were a fun read! I really enjoyed their banter, their chemistry and everything in between. I read this pretty quick because I just couldn’t help but wanna see what these two were gonna be up to next. The book was well paced, the steamy scenes were fun & I liked that we got some emotional aspects to this story as well. Both Aiden & Monica have some pretty hefty emotional baggage due to their pasts. It added some extra depth to their relationship & I liked getting to see them work through it for each other eventually.

Really enjoyed this book and excited to see what comes next in the series!

Cliffhanger? ❌️

Do I recommend? ✅️

Tropes: New Adult, enemies-to-lovers, reverse age-gap, forced proximity

Monica is the ball-busting manager for pop sensation, Nash Pierce. Most see her as the villain in his story but she did it because she cared. When the record label tried to threaten his career and passion for music, she developed a plan to make them pay. If she doesn't act fast, Nash's little brother, Aiden, was going to ruin her plans. Aiden despised Monica for what she did to Nash and he would protect his brother no matter what. He was cocky, selfish, had anger issues and could push her buttons like no one else. Now she has to take down a billion-dollar corporation beside an enemy. Things only got more complicated from there. Hate is a powerful emotion and it can turn to desire easily. It turns out working together to bring down a common enemy brought them close. But can love and trust form in a relationship that was founded on deception?

I LOVED Aiden and Monica. I honestly didn't think the author could change my negative opinion towards her but I couldn't have been more wrong. I fell in love with both characters. The sexual tension between them kept getting more and more intense. When that tension finally broke I couldn't have gotten hotter! My emotions had a ticket on one hell of a rollercoaster. Also epic banter! I can't wait for Lennon's story! I'm highly recommending this read. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

If you are looking for an enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract story, this is one you don’t want to miss out on. I felt all the emotions in this one, what the characters went through I felt it. The frustrations, a little anger, the confusion and the heart melting sweetness, it was perfectly done! I was sucked in instantly.

Monica is a fantastic character, manager to mega pop star Nash pierce, she is smart, strong and hardworking. She values her friendship Nash, but refuses to truly let anyone in. She is one to hide her emotions and feelings (causing her to be misunderstood)- in Aiden walks. As Nash’s younger brother, Aiden is highly protective of him and doesn’t hide the way he feels about Monica. Furious with her for a decision she made regarding Nash’s career and life- he is determined to ruin her. Aiden is cocky, commanding and confident, but it works for him. He seems so sure of himself but there is also a lot more to him than he is judged for.
However, once this unlikely pair team up, the banter, quick jabs and light insults somehow turns into something else. Their chemistry is undeniable.

I loved watching the relationship and connection that Aiden and Monica have. Seeing their characters develop throughout the story was fascinating. I enjoyed finding out more about each of them as the story unfolded. There was so much more to both of them than they initially see one another as. The subtle feelings, the little bits of personality that came through and the reasons they are how they are was just fantastic to read. Warring with themselves the whole time, both so frustrated at what they are feeling and refusing to acknowledge it, it caused more friction and ‘hate’ between them. You feel for them, neither are really prepared/ready to deal with their emotions so they continue on a destructive path when it comes to their relationship.

Once these two allowed themselves to acknowledge that there is some sort of feelings, they were hot hot hot! The spice is on point, and all that built up tension, just perfect!
But can they really maintain and grow a deep connection when everything started from a place of hate and distrust?

The addition of the side characters, revisiting the couples from the previous books and getting more from others you met before was great.

I love this author’s writing and how she easily makes you feel connected to her main characters and invested in them. I look forward to what she has planned next for the Mixtape Series.

Founded on Deception is the third installment of the Mixtape series by Kat Singleton. Even though this is part of a series, it is a standalone. I have not read the other books in the series and was OK and not lost as the author covers the important details. This book follows Monica and Aiden's relationship in this is a reverse age gap, enemies to lovers story.

Monica is a strong, independent, ruthless music manager, who always puts Nash first. She has to make tough decisions regarding Nash's career, but to some people, it looks like she gains from those decisions. Aiden sees her as this manipulative, lying person and wants to prove to Nash that she needs to go. Aiden is Nash's little brother, and he is only looking out for his brother. What he doesn't know is there is more to the story than anyone is letting on and he just may ruin Nash's career without even knowing it.

What I loved about this book: is Monica. She is a badass, independent, successful female. She doesn't show her emotions due to her upbringing. The author wrote her beautifully and for me, it makes me feel for her. I know my opinion may differ from others, but remember I didn't read the other books in the series to develop such feelings.

Secondly, is Aiden. There were times when I forgot he was younger than Monica. The way he helped her share her feelings, dropped down her walls, was very mature. The way he treated her in the bedroom, was soo good!

Third, is the plot. I don't want to spoil it for other readers, but I loved how the author brought real-life issues into the story. I wanted more stories to develop their case, maybe even where it hit close to home ... Monica.

There wasn't much that I didn't like about the book, except the ending where Aiden screws it all up. This really showed his age and immaturity and it drove me nuts. I really didn't want the HEA. The strong, independent woman in me... was like boy bye.

Overall, I enjoyed the characters, the story of this book. If you are into musicians, reverse age gap, enemies to lovers, this book is for you.

Rating: 3.75/5

I freaking LOVED this book!!!! When I first read book 1, I DESPISED Monica. I thought there was no possible way I cold connect with her but when I seen she was getting a book and with Aiden no less I was EXCITED! Because throughout book 1 and book 2 you could see their chemistry and let me tell you, THEY HAD THE MOST CHEMISTRY OF ALL THE COUPLES!!!
They were so alike yet so different at the same time. I loved Aiden's hate for her. It was so real. And Monica, she had so much on her shoulders yet she took Aiden's emotional slaps like a champ. I loved that we got to see another side to Monica. Usually we see nothing but the sass but in her book we got to really SEE her and I loved her for who she was and understood why she was always so....Monica. lol. And I LOVED Aiden's tenacity and how he never gave up in his quest to basically save his brother from anyone wanting to harm him or his career.
That first kiss? MELTED ME. But the first time they had sex I actually thought I was going to have to LIVE in the bathtub with how "sweaty" I was.
When they finally set aside their differences and became a couple I was in HEAVEN. They were so effortless perfect for one another I dont know how any of the other couples compare BUT, with every book I say that couple is my favorite because it seems like they all just get better and better with each book...SOOOO you know what that means...Lennon and Poe are going to cause me to not only throw my kindle (which I do believe this will happen with how Poe was acting in this book...HARDHEADED MAN) but also melt me from the inside out. Lennon seems the most innocent and sweet of them all and Poe is.....STUBBORN AF. This was by far one of my favorite reverse age gap books I have ever read and I cannot wait to read MORE from Kat Singleton!!!!

Welcome to another series that I absolutely adore! Here we are at book 3 of The Mixtape Series, following Aiden and Monica. These two have been at each others throats since the events of “Founded on Goodbye," and I’ve been waiting for them to either come to blows or fall into bed!
This may be my first reversed age gap and as a woman engaged to a younger man (same age difference) I’m surprised I haven’t read more.

Aiden feels disconnected from his rockstar brother, Nash. Looking to bridge the gap and reconnect he decides to join him on his tour, and if it means he can snoop on Monica to prove to Nash that she can’t be trusted even better. He has some moments where if I was Monica, I would have throttled him but in the end his sweet but also loyal nature won me over. I appreciate how fiercely he wants to protect Nash, especially once he learns what I going on.

I was a little worried I wouldn’t like Monica in the beginning not going to lie, some parts of her character rubbed me the wrong way but she won me over in the end. Monica is a workaholic who has closed herself off to most emotional attachments. She’s worked hard to get the reputation she has and she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. While she has excellent banter with Aiden, her quick witted responses to other members of the band and Nash are also A+.

Our at each others throats couple have wonderful sexual chemistry. The spice is a pretty normal level. I love that Monica enjoys control in all aspects of her life but gets off being controlled.

I really liked the sibling relationship build-up between Nash & Lennon. They each saw what everyone else was mostly blind to and provide advice.

Hoping that Lennon and Poe are going to be the next book, and we get some more of Aiden being a brother to her.

-Standalone in the Mixtape series. 3 of 4
-Aiden’s older brother is a famous musician. He has decided to go on tour with him, but he can’t stand Nash’s manager, Monica. Monica set Nash and Nora up on a previous tour to get her to break his hear so he would write more music. Aiden doesn’t understand why Nash forgave her and didn’t fire her. Monica has been threatened by the label manager that Nash works for to make him make more music or they will drop him. She is doing everything in her power to prevent that. Aiden finally corners Monica one day after she had an argument with Roy. Monica tells Aiden about the label owning all of Nash’s music so he can’t just leave, or he wouldn’t be able to play any of his songs again. Aiden has decided to help Monica get dirt on Roy so that Nash can have the rights to his songs. What was not supposed to happen what the attraction that they have for one another. Monica wanted it to be a one time thing to get it out of their systems but Aiden had other plans for that. So, they decided to see how it went until Aiden overheard part of a conversation with Monica and Roy that he didn’t know all of the context. He ended up wanting nothing to do with her anymore until he found out the truth that he wouldn’t let her explain what happened. Monica wouldn’t just forgive him. Aiden would follow her around for weeks trying to get her to listen to his apology. She didn’t listen until they were at a dinner with everyone, and Aiden professed his love and his apology in front of everyone. Monica forgave him. This book was such a slow burn, and I loved every minute of reading it. I want to go back and read the first two.

A sarcastic laugh bubbles from her throat. “What I want is for you to get out of my head.”

I taunt her with a smirk. “Can’t stop thinking about me, little liar?”

There is just something about enemies to lovers that I just LOVE. This book has so many good tropes, it’s not just enemies to lovers, but it’s also a age gap (22/30), the touch of forbidden relationship (her boss’s little brother), and a reverse grumpy sunshine.

Technically this book can be read as a standalone BUT I highly recommend reading the two first books in the Mixtape series since we meet Monica in that first book and learn a little about her.

Monica is shown to be a overworking, strict af, bitchy manager for singer Nash Pierce. Aiden is Nash’s younger brother who drops out of college to go on tour with Nash to try and reconnect after Nash goes to rehab. Monica, as we learn in the first book, kinda fucked Nash over, but Nash forgave her after she explains her reasons (which we learn in this book) but Aiden doesn’t forgive her, actually, he plans to make her life hell during this tour. We see how this two become enemies during the tour, but soon Aiden realices they are hiding something from him, and in the process of finding that out from Monica, they end up in some spicy moments🫣🔥.

This was a really amazing book, I’ve loved the series and Monica was definitely one of my top characters! Definitely recommend it for anyone who loves enemies to lovers. Thank you to The Smuthood and Kat for the ARC!

-Book Three
-Band life
-Enemies to lovers
-Witty and funny banter
-Age gap

One Sentence Synopsis: Aiden tags along on his brother's tour with a purpose--to figure out Monica's ulterior motives.

So Aiden definitely started out in the running for getting the King Douchebag of the Year Award, but any man who rescues a stray is a good man in my eyes, and yes, that is the instance where I fell in love with him. Sue me. This snarky, brooding, sarcastic SOB really was just amazing and so entertaining.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two dance around each other--Aiden trying to figure out Monica's true intentions and Monica trying to keep one step ahead of Aiden (and the entire production company).

The characters seemed so raw with their flaws so deliciously on display. I am a big believer in flaws, and I love when they are put on display in books--it brings a certain realism to play. No one is perfect, including Aiden and Monica. They're bitchy, selfish at times, and frustrating, and I love them both for all of those things.

Also, each book in this series can be read on its own, but there are overlapping characters, so I think it would be best to start at the beginning with Founded on Goodbye, Founded on Temptation, and then Founded on Deception (all of which are excellent!!) This book kept me up so late that my eyes hurt 😂

Fav Quote: You may be able to hide behind that cold, black heart of yours, but it doesn't lie. Not to me.

When I found out that Monica would be getting her own story I was so excited. I wanted to see where the woman who always made sure to be compose, strong minded and determined really stood when it came to Nash, his career, and his record label. I'm glad her stance was made very clear from the start, even if the choices she made hurt many people. She always made sure to keep her plan at the forefront of her mind, even if Aiden began to slowly invade her heart and mind. The bits of of her childhood helped me understand why she was a calculating and almost cold-hearted woman.

As for Aiden, he really showed that he was like a dog with a bone, protective of his older brother, but deterimed to discover what Monica was hiding. His hatred toward her, though misplaced at times, was understandable. Singleton really made sure to remind me of his age, and how unexpirienced in life he was compared to Monica. Especially when there was a possibility he could have jeopardized Monica's goal with his inability to trust her.

I'm glad Monica really made him grovel and proved that he loved and trusted her. And at the same time he began to grow into a man and not the little brother who didn't seem to understand that not everything in life was black and white. Just be warned this book is more tension filled than spicy, but the tension is so worth it in the end

4 1/2 Stars for this enemies-to-lovers romance!

Aiden and Monica are so sassy ... I love the banter between them. The more hateful things they say to each other ... the more turned on they get. That fine line between love and hate is going to be stretched so far that it just might break. Monica has met her match in Aiden and even though he's eight years younger than her, it doesn't take long for him to draw her interest. This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait to see who's next.

Monica is Nash's manager and Aiden is Nash's younger brother. After the stunt that Monica orchestrated when trying to get Nora to break Nash's heart so that he would write a number one album, Aiden doesn't trust Monica ... at all! He doesn't understand why Nash didn't fire her when he found out, but he's gonna get the bottom of it. But the closer Aiden gets to Monica, the more he realizes that he may have been wrong about her. Monica is tired of babysitting ... first Nash after Nora breaks his heart and now Nash's little brother is on tour with them. Monica has to keep an eye on him so he doesn't ruin the plan that Nash and her have to take on Nash's record label.

I received an early copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

ARC Review

Founded on Deception
ARC Review

This is one of THE best enemies to lovers books I’ve read in a long time🥵 I think this just might be my favorite Mixtape book so far.

The chemistry and tension between Aiden and Monica in this book is off the charts and I would seriously love a second book of these two!

“Do you feel that?” I ask, my voice coming out low and gravelly. She nods. “For some catastrophic reason I’ll never be able to understand, it only beats like that when I’m around you.”

You can see the turning point in this book where Aiden finally starts to see Monica as someone other than an enemy. Kat also gives you a more in depth reason as to why Monica did what she did to Nash when she hired Nora to break his heart.

“Never did I imagine asking her to stay. What I’m only just realizing, as the weight of her absence truly hits me, is that I’m pissed off. But not because of anything I would’ve thought. She’s the last person I should want, yet she’s the only person I want.”

Kat is a mastermind when it comes to her Mixtape series and Founded on Deception is no different. It gives you angst, steam, tension, chemistry, hate, sadness, humor and so much more. Definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year!
