"Allah created the rainbow and all it's wonderful colors. / Then Allah created Adam (Peace be upon him). Allah made him the best of all his creations. Allah created Hawwa (Peace be upon her) as Adam's wife."
This is the first in a board book series about the prophets. This one is by far one of my favourites in it for babies and toddlers. The others are more suited to 3+, despite the board book format.
It child friendly language, it tells the story of creation and then of the creation of Adam (AS). Allah made the world, the moon and the stars. He made the sun and the rainbow. Then after that made the first man and made him a wife. They got to enjopy everything in heaven except for one tree but they didn't listen to Allah. Allah sent them to earth and promised to guide him. They had lots of children. Then comes the main moral of the book. The author explains that we are all the children of Adam so we're like one big family. So we should be kind and help each other, just like a family does.
The illustrations in this book are bold and bright. Some of them have a whimsical look that is really artistic. The style does vary a bit from page to page. It also varies with how much text is on one page with some pages having one simple sentence and others having two longer ones.
A nice board book overall. I like the simplicity of the story and language. There's two things about the wording I'm not crazy about. Firstly, there's a difference of opinion as to whether Adam (AS) was in THE Paradise or not. Whereas 'heaven' suggests that. Secondly, it says that we're like one big family and "this is why we must try to help each other..." We are good to each other because Allah taught us it's the right thing to do, because it pleases him, not because we're related. Perhaps saying something like "Allah made the whole world like one big family and taught us to try to help each other and live together, as if we're all brothers and sisters." A really nice message though and good opportunity to start a conversation with your little one.
