Three short stories featuring floggers. Chris Owens one was fun and just made me smile as a dare took a kinky turn. Sean Micheal's was pretty typical smut fest that just really didn't do anything for me since I learned more about them naked that I did as people. Jay Lygon's was the best hitting my emotions and really making me care about the characters despite they didn't even have names. Well worth the time and very enjoyable read.

This had a nice story by Chris Owen, nothing wild or amazing but it was well written. It had a less than okay story by Sean Michael that I almost couldn't finish. But the story that earned this book the 4 stars was the longer one of the set by Jay Lygon. It made this book more than worth the read.

“Double Dog Dare” by Chris Owen centers on the introduction of one man to a different side of life. Ever since he was a child, Dog has accepted, and completed, every dare posed to him. His unbroken record is a source of pride, so when Rex poses a dare of his own, Dog cannot refuse. This is a story of surprises, for both the characters and the reader. In particular I was intrigued that the role each character plays is the exact opposite from my initial presumption. Rex puts himself on the line by challenging Dog, exposing his sexuality proclivities to another who may not be like-minded. This story shows that sometimes a dare is just what you need to discover a side of yourself that you didn’t know existed.
“Number One” by Jay Lygon is a deeply emotional story of a slave who is feeling lost and overlooked. Although Number One is the top slave, in charge of keeping the others in line, he has begun to feel unsure of his place in his master’s home. He tries to free himself of Two and Three for an evening, to ensure Master Ophir’s focus is solely on him, but Three isn’t quite cooperating. One lets his unsettled emotions take over and makes a decision he knows is wrong even before it is discovered. The discipline that Master Ophir serves up is both physically and emotionally demanding. One is trying with everything he has to explain to his master what he is feeling without saying a word. The interactions are intense and even through the punishment it is obvious how much Master Ophir cares for his slave.
“Testing Leather“ by Sean Michael explores what happens when intense love and trust are combined with a few exquisite floggers. Samuel is able to fully experience the new toys because he trusts Peter to keep him safe. Peter is fully attentive to what his lover needs, and thrives on being able to meet those needs. The bond between these characters is especially strong and their scene with the floggers is fascinating. The toys cover a range of response from Samuel, starting with comforting pleasure and ending with an intensity which pushes Samuel’s boundaries.
All three stories utilize floggers in a different way, one to entice, one to punish, and one to pleasure. Each is enjoyable and interesting, making this another excellent collection in the Toy Box series!

“Double Dog Dare” by Chris Owen
For the past few years, Rex has watched his friend Dog accept any and every dare that came across his path. One night Rex finally approaches Dog with a dare of his own, one that could have utterly delicious results. The question is, will Dog accept?
“Double Dog Dare” is my favorite story of the anthology. It’s fast and fun with two incredibly hot heroes that generate some serious heat. Dog has an easy manner and a sparkling personality that makes it impossible not to be charmed by him. Rex is the more serious of the pair, but he has a quiet sensuality of his own that drew me to him. Separately and together, these two packed one heck of a punch and I finished their story with a smile on my face, eager for more.
This is the first story I’ve read by Chris Owen and it’s enough to have me hooked on her work, eagerly looking to glom up her backlist. I find Ms. Owen’s voice, style, and characters wonderfully appealing and look forward to reading many equally engaging stories from her in the future.

I was worried reading “Number One” that the story would be bittersweet and not to my taste. While not a “happy” story, “Number One” surprised me nonetheless in its loveliness. The bond between Number One and Master Ophir isn’t something to be easily defined, and the insight the story gave into their relationship was fascinating. “Number One” was gripping and intriguing and I look forward to reading more of Jay Lygon’s work.

“Testing Leather” is a tempting bit of wickedness featuring Peter and Samuel of Sean Michael’s Between Friends series. Though I have not read any of the Between Friends books, I had no problem following this story and, indeed, found myself somewhat intrigued by the hints given concerning Samuel’s past. A sexy window into the lives of two committed lovers, “Testing Leather” is sure to please.
Scintillating and hot, Toy Box: Flogger contains three entertaining stories that will please old and new fans of Chris Owen, Jay Lygon, and Sean Michael alike. Each of these three stories tempt and tease with their combination of lust and love, making Toy Box: Flogger an anthology with as much snap as a flogger itself.

I LOVED Number One a short story about Master Ophir and his most devoted slave from the Chaos Magic series. I hope Jay writes more about these two. I found this on a fluke as it's not listed on his author page as part of the series. HOT! The other stories were good but not smoldering reads :)

The only story I liked in this collection was "Testing Leather" by Sean Michaal. I liked the way he describes the increasing level of trust between Sammy and Pete. I gave that a 4-star rating.
